There are several lakes on the property with the club room patio/gazebo extending out over one of the lakes. Catch and release fishing is permitted and there is a coin operated fish food dispenser at the gazebo from which the food provided entertainment watching the fish, ducks and turtles vie for a bite. Members started arriving on Tuesday and the majority arrived on Wednesday. On some days the weather cooperated and it was great to be able to spend time visiting on the patio or gazebo. Just have to make mention of the beauty we were all treated to on the approach to the park. Bluebonnet, Red Hyacinth and Indian Paintbrush flowers were plentiful along Continued on pg 2, col 1 HOSTS TEAM MAY RALLY PLANS Next month our chapter will be returning to the Coyote Ranch Resort for the third time for a rally in the Wichita Falls area. The RV Park is Woodalls newest 5W/5W RV resort in Texas. Those of you who were attendees at one or both of the previous rallies know of the outstanding amenities that are available to make this an outstanding rally. Come early... There are three places you may want to visit in Wichita Falls according to the Texas Co-Op Power Magazine. Downtown, you ll find the world s smallest skyscraper that stands only 40 feet tall. According to local legend, an oil man/ promoter drew up the plans to lure investors, not telling them it was scaled in inches instead of feet. He raked in $200,000 in that misrepresentation. A lot of the rally attendees were out and about on Thursday and Friday either visiting outside their coaches, the club room or sight seeing. The host team of Curtis and Marva Buchhorn, Robert and Maureen Robinson, John and Biney Sharpe and Charlie and Jeanette Trahan researched the area and provided print-outs listing the many places to visit and things to do. Some of the places visited by members are the Azalea Trail and the Rose Garden, both in Tyler, The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, East Texas Arboretum, The Tara Vineyard and Winery and the Henderson County Historical Museum, all in Athens. Another researched item was a place to eat out, so on Thursday evening 48 of the attendees carpooled to the Catfish Palace in Athens for dinner. After returning to the campground several members played cards or visited in the clubroom. We have new members Sue and H. O. Abbott. The delightful couple was introduced Friday evening by their good friends, Bill and Lenora Clyde. H.O. is a retired Methodist Minister and they live in Tyler. The Abbotts will miss the May rally due to a previously planned trip to Western states, but they look forward to attending the June rally. Friday dinner the hosts brought in a good ole BBQ meal of brisket, sausage, potato salad, slaw, beans, pickles, peppers and bread from Danny s Smokehouse in Athens. Dessert was peach cobbler with ice cream. No one left hungry!! Whoszat was presented by Kathy Mabry who collected many guesses as to the owner of the child s picture. When Kathy asked the mystery person to stand up Melody Beall surprised many as the Whoszat for April. She said she was 6 when the school picture was taken. Card playing and visiting completed Friday evening. Saturday morning we awoke to cloudy skies and wind. Everyone was in good spirits and the breakfast was well worth waking up for. The host team prepared all the fixings for delicious breakfast tacos. The choice of toppings allowed each person to custom-build their tacos to suit taste preferences. Also on the menu was mixed fruit, juice and coffee. After breakfast Dennis held a meeting to inform the members of our duties at the Six-State Rally to be held in Shreveport, LA in October. Dennis gave everyone a schedule of jobs and all was discussed. Everyone was pleased with our progress. Since it was so windy, the ladies did a lot of card playing before and after the craft session. They made candle rings, some with flowers and others from fabric swatches. A wonderful dinner of ham, cheese potatoes, green beans, hot bread, brownies and ice cream was served by our hosts. After dinner Gary Mabry told a True story on Jerry and Shirley Nelson about a black bra, over which everyone laughed and laughed! Then on to the D.A Award about bad luck to our president. Dennis says that donkey doesn t like it in his motor home and tries to jump over the fence! Sunday morning breakfast was fruit and sweet breads. A great devotional was led by Snoopy Campbell. Everyone left fairly early due to the weather forecast of storms to roll into the area by afternoon. It was a great rally and we have new members. 3 Coyote Ranch continued from pg 1 the Antique Wood. Also downtown are plenty of museums to check out. Go to the Kemp Center for the Arts, the center of the art community for the Wichita Falls area. Originally built in 1917, the center features an outdoor sculpture garden and frequent arts performances. You may want to visti the Waterfall. Completed in 1986, this 54-foot manmade falls replaced the original falls that washed away long ago. Enjoy the miles of landscaped and lighted all-weather walking trails. The trails lead to the 170-acre Lucy Park, which has pavilions and the Lucy Land playground. 5 D. A. AWARD Page 5 OKLAHOMA ENGINEERING! This months D A Award is mostly for bad luck. This is what happens when tough luck is involved and the person this is about has four, I repeat four... college degrees. Just go by his coach and look at his southern engineering skill, showing two-by-fours, step stool, a ladder and the motor home steps. All this just to get in the coach. Now this guy has a cumulative history of sad or should I say "bad things happening to him". Gets a great price on his motor home. Why?? Company's going bankrupt, his is the last coach off assembly line. It has seemed like it was just pieced together, leaking slide, hole in the floor that the slide rolls on, air conditioner problems and many others that could be listed. Now this has been long in coming because he was so upset on the next item that he was thinking about going home after this happened. He was at Destiny R V Resort and was supposed to go behind the club house to park. Just so happens a USP truck was there and not wanting to wait (like USP drivers are slow) he drives around the park and has to make an awkward turn into his camping site. In doing so he hooks the rear of coach on the retaining wall and tears loose the rear cap on the coach. Dennis, gets award for April... Should you like to make a specific color call LuAnn Marchisin about your needs. All attendees were very complimentary to the Host Team for the quality food choices. The Team s objective was to provide each attendee with a very good value for their registration fee and indications are that objective was soundly met. I made an effort to inform the Texan RV Park of the financial impact a club like ours has on the local community and told them that without them having an RV Park near Athens the city would not realize such gains. Our Club spent, as a whole, approx $3, over the four days thru restaurants, RV parking, catering, groceries, etc. Curtis
