2 Backfiring from the chair: I sure miss Trevor s input for the newsletter; it just does not seem to be the same. Trevor could not make the Baby Blanket Run as he was in some pain when I saw him on Sunday morning. He still showed up though, in a cage with his blankets and R20, after having a chin wag and seeing us off he returned home to rest. Hope you are feeling better! In the last edition I failed to list Graham as present on the ride but from the photo s it is obvious he was around. I don t know how Trevor does it, but he seems to have the memory of an elephant when it comes to attendees, their bikes and the route. The Barnyard social is fully booked, two tables, each seating twelve. The deposit has been paid, we need to pay the balance so that we can finalise our booking, please settle with Peter. The first annual Baby Blanket Run was held on the 16 th June 2013 and considering the short planning stage, it was a success. Three members from the West Rand chapter braved the cold to meet us at Bimbo s and join us on the run. The president of the Forty s club also popped in to drop off some blankets and made a monetary contribution to the cause. We were able to collect enough blankets to distribute to all the patients in the maternity ward and some to spare. Shirley has mentioned that Pick and Pay will be willing to make a contribution next year towards this event and the hospital made an offer to have a gazebo set up for us. This event can only grow from here!
