The college has helped them with electrical challenges and the display has now been approved by the CSA. Andy Griffin and Jim Holberton volunteered to be on the
assembly team. The display will be set up from December 6 and Sunrise will be manning the collecting tins on Wednesdays. Phase One is complete! Ken Ottoson introduced speaker Allan Holender, founder and General Manager of Peachland's first radio station. The station was nominated for two awards of Business Excellence in Allan is a member of Peachland Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Allan has been passionate about and involved in radio since the age of ten when he broadcast to his mother by way of a speaker in their kitchen. Allan co-founded AM650 in Richmond BC and web radio networks including Media on Tap, Positive World Radio Network, conscious Planet Radio and Peachland Radio.com. Peachland Radio is a small radio station in a small town, Allan drew inspiration from radio KBHR 570AM from the TV show Northern Exposure. It is the first independent all digital online radio station in Canada. AM and FM radio are in jeopardy, the
terrestrial stations have to apply for a licence to broadcast. Digital radio requires no licence. The online radio world is growing fast, a station can be on air within weeks, it needs no tower and no start-up capital. Peachland Radio started in December 2013 with Christmas music. The average age of Peachland residents is 54, in the winter many travel south and in summer the population is greatly increased by tourists. Peachland Radio is available to everyone with an internet connection. The station is involved in community events and is planning a Jazz Festival and outdoor movie event for next year. LISTEN AT peachlandradio.com Wine draw winner Kerry Armit Sherriff -Gary Bowker Thank you to Allan, a very interesting presentation, most Sunrise Rotarians have
faces suited to radio! Following the interesting rendition of the national anthem this morning Gary fined Bob Fortier and issued a general warning to those leading the singing to START LOW! Max and Sarah Mosley were fined for including 'pillow talk' as make-ups! Speaker Allan had said that your perfect career would be something you loved at age 10. Bill Reynolds wanted to be a policeman so became a referee, Jerry Sedmak wanted to be a fireman so now picks up women. Happy/Sad Laurel D'Andrea Rutland Park AGM on Monday October 20, taking the vote back to the membership. Linda Frandsen son Scott was in Hawaii for the Iron Man, completing it in 9hours 30, and then got engaged! Maribeth Friesen had a lovely trip down memory lane this morning, speaker Allan used to work with her Dad. Max Mosley - missed last two meetings had a wonderful trip to Vancouver and Victoria with daughter and her fiancé a surprise visit for Sarah! Pat Bentley had great seats at the hockey game, thanks Huck for donating them last week. Gary Bowker Interact at OKM has 35 very enthusiastic members. They are planning a bake sale. Paul Mulvihill saw a few interesting Kelowna Sunday morning sights while directing traffic for the Okanagan Marathon. Vic Spolia invitation to everyone to the Grand Opening of Torino Ritz, Mission Park Shopping Centre Tuesday October 21 5pm - 8pm
Brian Fennell hurricane missed the British Virgin Islands but hit St Martin Ed Kolybaba made a request for club history information which would be great to have completed for our 30 th anniversary in Ed is travelling south next week but would love to receive s from anyone with information and items that they would like to have placed on the website.
