We will be having workdays on the Saturday following the monthly Meeting unless a holiday or event has a conflict. 3 GREENHAVEN FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER page 3 of 8 APRIL MEETING MINUTES SUMMARY Two new members were voted in at the meeting, William Quick Sr. and James Wilson. New member applications were read for Joseph Sodouski, Eric Kenny, Stillwell Mamnriguez, Valerio Piqconte, Phillip Simons, Anthony Quatrochi, John Foderi, Sean Gordman and Gregory Vince. Range work is coming up to power wash and paint the range buildings. Date to be announced. Bake tickets are available, Call Jim Teeling. 31 Day gun Raffle. Sales are going well. St. Patrick's Day Dinner: The Board has decided to drop this event and instead start a spring Chicken BBQ or something else.. The turnout for the St. Patrick s day dinner has been poor for the past few years. Posting: Jim is in contact with Ms. Secor and the property is still for sale with a prospective buyer. The club is still looking for property to buy or lease. Membership, 127 with 9 on waiting list. ****EVENTS**** HUNTER SAFETY COURSE NYS DEC Hunter Safety Bow Course scheduled for Saturday September 8 Sunday September 9. Course is all day. STEAK BAKE The Steak Bake will be held on August 4, Steak Bake tickets are now available. Please contact Jim Teeling. PIG ROAST Next Pig Roast will be held on September 29, BIG BUCK DINNER The Big Buck Dinner was held on January Date for 2019 not yet scheduled. St. PATRICKS DAY DINNER The St. Patrick's day Dinner is being cancelled. The attendance has been poor for the last few years. Instead the board is planning of having a Chicken BBQ or other similar event in the spring. More details to follow. RAFFLES 31 Day Gun Raffle- This year two separate raffles will be held in the month of October, one based on the mid day NY Lottery number and the other on the evening numbers. You can buy two tickets (mid day and evening) and get the same number for both if you like. Cost will be $20 for each ticket. BOY SCOUT Troop 86 The Boy Scouts held a meeting at the Sprout Brook House on March 21st. FRIENDS OF NRA DINNER Mid Hudson Friends of NRA Dinner was held Friday, The club had two tables at the dinner. Everyone had a great time and it was good to support the NRA. Thank you to Chris Hunt for setting it up for the club. If you are interested please let Bill Hunt or any BOD know you are interested. FEDERATION Fish stocking was held, but due to the weather was delayed. Many places will not be stocked until after April 1st. MERCHANDISE Shirts and Jackets are well stocked. Check them out at the next meeting. PROPERTY POSTING We need a Brush Hog for cleaning up the hunting property. Madalay Road parking is not allowed. Needs to be posted again. Jim is in contact with Ms. Secor and the property is still for sale with a prospective buyer. The club is still looking for property to buy or lease. RANGE A range work day will be coming up soon to power wash and paint. Date to be determined. Don t forget to sign in and out on the range book and put up and take down the flag. Remember that all members are required to attend a Range Safety Course/Video PRI- OR to using the range. SPROUT BROOK GROUNDS and HOUSE Remember that the Saturday following the monthly meeting of every month is a work day (unless changed by a holiday). Please help out in anyway you can. Work Days have been lightly attended but the work has been done well. Good Job. Reminder, there is no smoking on the second floor of the house. Smoking is limited to downstairs in the wood burning furnace area only. The locks at Sprout Brook have been changed for HUNTER/FISHING EDUCATION Just a reminder to check the DEC website prior to hunting or fishing. Changes are made to regulations after the books are printed up. Congratulations to George!!! SPROUT BROOK KITCHEN Another excellent dinner at the meeting! STONY CREEK Bathroom off of the kitchen will be remodeled next year. Mouse traps are loaded. Fill them up when you are there. Most important, be sure to follow the directions for closing up the house to prevent damage to the house/equipment. If supplies are low, let Ed know. Next Stony Creek Work Day is April 21, Ed will be resigning as Chairperson. If you would like to be the Chairperson, please let Bill Hunt or any BOD member. WAYS & MEANS We are sorry to report that Life Members, Robert Brunell and Allen Deragon have passed. Please keep Robert and Allen and their families in your prayers. WORK HOURS Every member now has a member number. Please write your number every time you sign in so it will be easier to identify you when we can t read your writing. To join the group, go to Facebook and under groups search for the group Greenhaven Fish & Game Association, Inc. Make your request to join and once accepted you will be allowed to view and post within the group. Only members will be able to see posts made within the group. NRA NEWS GUN OWNERS INSURANCE Charles Harris has information on gun insurance for people who own and/or carry weapons. The club is not endorsing any insurance or suggesting you get insurance. Realizing the anti-gun state we live in, everyone should evaluate their individual liability and whether or not this insurance is right for them. Information on the insurance is located in the July Newsletter, or you can contact Charles Harris. NRA Grant Proposal will be submitted. More details on the project to be discussed as information is available. Four High School Boys afflicted with spring fever skipped morning classes. After lunch they reported to the teacher that they had a flat tire. Much to their relief she smiled and said, Well, you missed a test today so take seats apart from one another and take out a piece of paper. Still smiling, she waited for them to sit down. Then she said, First question: Which tire was flat?

ON JULY 20, 1969, AS COMMANDER OF THE APOLLO 11 LUNAR MODULE, NEIL ARM- STRONG WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO SET FOOT ON THE MOON. HIS FIRST WORDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE MOON, "THAT'S ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND," WERE TELE- VISED TO EARTH AND HEARD BY MILLIONS. BUT, JUST BEFORE HE RE-ENTERED THE LANDER, HE MADE THE ENIGMATIC REMARK "GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY." MANY PEOPLE AT NASA THOUGHT IT WAS A CASUAL REMARK CONCERNING SOME RI- VAL SOVIET COSMONAUT. HOWEVER, UPON CHECKING, THERE WAS NO GORSKY IN EITHER THE RUSSIAN OR AMERICAN SPACE PROGRAMS. OVER THE YEARS, MANY PEOPLE QUESTIONED ARMSTRONG AS TO WHAT THE 'GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY' STATEMENT MEANT, BUT ARMSTRONG ALWAYS JUST SMILED. ON JULY 5, 1995, IN TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA, WHILE ANSWERING QUESTIONS FOLLOWING A SPEECH, A REPORTER BROUGHT UP THE 26-YEAR-OLD QUESTION ABOUT MR.GORSKY AND THIS TIME HE FINALLY RESPONDED BECAUSE HIS MR. GORSKY HAD JUST DIED, SO NEIL ARMSTRONG FELT HE COULD NOW ANSWER THE QUESTION. HERE IS THE ANSWER TO "WHO WAS MR. GORSKY?": IN 1938, WHEN HE WAS A KID IN A SMALL MID-WESTERN TOWN, HE WAS PLAYING BASEBALL WITH A FRIEND IN THE BACKYARD. HIS FRIEND HIT THE BALL, WHICH LANDED IN HIS NEIGHBOR'S YARD BY THEIR BED- ROOM WINDOW. HIS NEIGHBORS WERE MR. AND MRS. GORSKY. AS HE LEANED DOWN TO PICK UP THE BALL, YOUNG ARMSTRONG HEARD MRS. GORSKY SHOUTING AT MR. GORSKY, "SEX! YOU WANT SEX?! YOU'LL GET SEX WHEN THE KID NEXT DOOR WALKS ON THE MOON!" It broke the place up. NEIL ARMSTRONG'S FAMILY CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A TRUE STORY.

8 GREENHAVEN FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER page 8 of 8 RUGER MARK IV RECALL Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV pistols (including 22/45 models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly. In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the safe and fire positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the fire position, the pistol may fire at that time. Although only a small percentage of pistols appear to be affected and we are not aware of any injuries, Ruger is firmly committed to safety and would like to retrofit all potentially affected pistols with an updated safety mechanism. Until your Mark IV pistol has been retrofitted or you verify that it is not subject to the recall, we strongly recommend that you not use your pistol. HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOUR PISTOL NEEDS THE RETROFIT All Mark IV pistols produced prior to June 1, 2017 are potentially affected and therefore are being recalled. This includes Mark IV Target, Hunter, Competition, 22/45, 22/45 Lite and 22/45 Tactical models. These models bear serial numbers beginning with 401 (2017 models) or WBR (2016 models). Mark I, Mark II and Mark III Pistols are NOT affected. Newly manufactured Mark IV pistols will begin with serial number 500. Thus, if you have a Mark IV or 22/45 pistol with a serial number beginning with the number 5, your pistol is not subject to the recall. Mark IV and 22/45 pistols retrofitted with the updated safety mechanism are easily identified by the letter S in the white safety dot that is visible when the safety is engaged. Visit the Mark IV Recall website at Ruger.com/MarkIVRecall to look up your serial number and verify if it is subject to the recall. Please have the unloaded pistol available when you visit the website and obtain the serial number directly from the pistol. IF YOUR PISTOL IS AFFECTED STEP 1: Follow the instructions at the Mark IV Recall Website and sign up for the recall. You will be asked to provide your name, address, telephone number, an address, and the serial number of your pistol. STEP 2: You will be added to a list to have the retrofit installed on a first-come, first-served basis. In the next few weeks, you will receive a prepaid USPS box with a shipping label and detailed packaging and shipping instructions. Simply follow the instructions in your instruction manual to separate the barrel/ receiver assembly and return the grip frame assembly to us in accordance with the shipping instructions. STEP 3: We will install the updated safety mechanism, and return your grip frame assembly to you, all FREE of charge. Individual consumers will receive a FREE magazine (a $29.95 value) as a thank you for their patience and cooperation.
