We will be having workdays on the 4th Saturday of the month (Sunday if necessary). 3 GREENHAVEN FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER page 3 of 8 NOVEMBER MEETING MINUTES SUMMARY Voted in 5 new members, W. Farr, A. Deruggerio Sr., A. Deruggerio Jr., R. Desena and A. Christian. 31 Day Gun Raffle, 219 not sold, $3900 cash paid out, $15,520 deposited and guns being finalized. Big Buck dinner is coming up on 1/13/18. We processed two deer. Thanks to all who helped. Still need a chair for the event. Discussion on ticket sales for forecasting the meal. Date for St. Pats dinner needs to be confirmed. The Secor s posted the property themselves. Pegusus property posting of right away. Madalay Road parking is not allowed. Needs to be posted again. Work hours are posted through 11/30/17. Work hours for new members after July are not required. Federation report Youth applications for camp are due by 12/1/17. Stony Creek work days are done for the year. Bathroom off the kitchen will be renovated next year. Logging is done, clean up is being worked on. Mouse traps are loaded. Fill them up when you are there...most important, when you are there make sure to follow the directions to close up the house. Sprout Creek House Good Job! Work Days are light but the work has been done well. Sprout Brook Grounds Firewood needs to be worked on Dec. 16th. December 16th will be the workday for the month of December. Elections-Nominations are complete. An election for 1st VP and 1 Year Director (2) will be conducted at the December 18th meeting. Public Relations Ken Williams has passed away. The membership was reminded that the club does a wake service for the deceased and support is expected. New Business Royal Carting damaged the bridge. Ownershhip is being researched. Discussion on payment of the damages. A motion was made to have the club begin keeping records of the animals harvested from the properties. Also, a motion that the club place sign in Hunting Logs at each property. The Board will design a plan. Both motions approved. Discussed the issue of finding hunting property. We are in need of a Brush Hof for cleanup of property for hunting. (November Meeting Minutes continued on page 6) ****EVENTS**** HUNTER SAFETY COURSE No additional coursed scheduled at this time. PIG ROAST The Pig roast was held on Saturday October 1:00pm. 125 adults and 15 kids attended. Next Pig Roast will be in September BIG BUCK DINNER The Big Buck Dinner is scheduled for January Joe Tatoni has asked anyone who can butcher, buy goods and help prep for the dinner to please let him know. We are still looking for someone to chair the event. Joe will still be the Chef but we need someone to run the event and organize the help that Joe will need, including butchering the meat. Contact Bill Hunt if interested. St. PATRICKS DAY DINNER Need to confirm a date for the dinner. RAFFLES Quad ATV Raffle: Raffle was successful, with a profit of about $ Day Gun Raffle: 219 tickets not sold. $3900 in cash paid out. $15520 deposited, guns being finalized. BYLAWS A motion was passed to distribute a copy of revised bylaws to all members with this years dues collection. 4 GREENHAVEN FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER page 4 of 8 ARCHERY COMMITTEE REPORTS We are looking for a new Archery Chairperson. Dan has resigned due to a change in his work schedule. Dan will help out as much as his schedule allows. FEDERATION Applications being accepted for Boys and Girls ages 11 to 14 to attend DEC camp in the summer. Applications are next to the printer in the club house meeting room or contact Steve Zammikiel. Applications for youth camp are due by 12/1/17. Sending Club President to Friends of NRA Dinner on December 3, MERCHANDISE Shirts and Jackets are well stocked. Check them out at the next meeting. PROPERTY POSTING A motion was passed to keep records on animals harvested from hunting properties. Also a motion to have a sign in log when hunting on the properties. The Board will design a plan. We need a Brush Hog for cleaning up the hunting property. Madalay Road parking is not allowed. Needs to be posted again. RANGE Range Separator improvements may need to be done to prevent ejected shells from contacting other shooters. Also, the range has been kept clean. Don t forget to sign in and out on the range book and put up and take down the flag. Remember that all members are required to attend a Range Safety Course/Video PRIOR to using the range. SPROUT BROOK GROUNDS and HOUSE Remember that the 4th Saturday of every month is a work day (unless changed by a holiday). Please help out in anyway you can. Work Days have been lightly attended but the work has been done well. Good Job. Reminder, there is no smoking on the second floor of the house. Smoking is limited to downstairs in the wood burning furnace area only. HUNTER EDUCATION Just a reminder to check the DEC website prior to hunting. Changes are made to hunting regulations after the books are printed up. SPROUT BROOK KITCHEN Another excellent dinner at the meeting of Chicken and Vegetables. STONY CREEK Work Days for the year are done. Bathroom off of the kitchen will be remodeled next year. Logging is done. Cleanup is in progress. Mouse traps are loaded. Fill them up when you are there. Most important, be sure to follow the directions for closing up the house to prevent damage to the house/equipment. WAYS & MEANS Joe Condon has a broken leg. Wayne had Hip Surgery. 5 GREENHAVEN FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER page 5 of 8 OTHER ITEMS OTHER ITEMS NY SAFE ACT AND CCW PERMIT RE- CERTIFICATION Another rule of the NY SAFE Act is becoming active. The requirement to re-certify your CCW permit every 5 years is now taking effect. If you have a pistol permit you have probably received a letter from the NY State Police informing you of the need to re-certify. If you have not received it, a copy of the letter is enclosed on the next page of the newsletter for your information. Don t forget that if your NYS Pistol License was issued before January 15, 2013 you must recertify your license by January 31, If you do not re-certify your permit will be revoked! our Pistol License was issued after January 15, 2013 the deadline to recertify is five years after the date is was issued. Refer to the NYS Police letter printed on the next page of the newsletter. GREENHAVEN FACEBOOK Curt Bailey has started a Facebook page for current active and life members. To join the group, go to Facebook and under groups search for the group Greenhaven Fish & Game Association, Inc. Make your request to join and once accepted you will be allowed to view and post within the group. Only members will be able to see posts made within the group. NRA NEWS NRA Grant Proposal will be submitted. More details on the project to be discussed as information is available. The club is not endorsing any insurance or suggesting you get insurance. Realizing the anti-gun state we live in, everyone should evaluate their individual liability and whether or not this insurance is right for them. Information on the insurance is located in the July Newsletter, or you can contact Charles Harris. Q: Who is Santa s favorite singer? Boy Scouts had a very successful camp out. Announced that a service will be held for Kenny Williams and a good turnout would be nice. He is a former officer and good member, having handled many raffles and worked at the club whenever needed. Membership- 135 Active and 50 Life. Dues notices will be sent out in December and paid by February meeting. Another delicious meal provided by the kitchen crew, Chicken and vegetables.
