3 October is Breast Cancer Awareness month #SFPD at Richmond Station join more than 170 law enforcement agencies around the country in the #PinkPatchProject, a collaborative effort created to raise awareness and funds for #breastcancer research and treatment. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth The picture above includes Captain Michelle Jean, Lieutenants Conley and Pera, Sergeants Cueba, Dempsky and Paras, and Officers Hang, Masangcay, Harper, Stephens, (the back of) Garrett, Bryant, Hill and Whitfield. 3

5 Citizen of the month MINDY FONG Meet our Citizen of the Month! Mindy is the owner and manager of Jade Chocolates, located at 4207 Geary Boulevard in the Inner Richmond. Title: Flagging in the Park Date: 10/13/2018 Time: hrs Location: Aids Memorial Grove Details: This is an opportunity for people to wave brightly colored fabrics, picnic and generally socialize with music in the park while raising funds for charity. This is free and open to the general public. Title: Clement Street Farmers Market Date: 10/14/2018 Time: hrs Location: Clement Street between 2 nd Avenue and 4 th Avenue Title: Golden Gate Park Band Series Date: 10/14/2018 Time: hrs Location: Golden Gate Park- Music Concourse Bandshell Details: This event is a weekly two hour concert by the Golden Gate Park Band. 11 DEFINITION OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that could indicate a crime-related incident has been committed, or about to be committed. Unusual items or situations: A vehicle is parked in an odd location, a package/luggage is left unattended, a window/ door is open that is usually closed, or other out-of-the-ordinary situations occur. Examples of Suspicious Activity: An individual peering into vehicles, to try and locate any valuables left unattended. An individual trying door handles to vehicles, and/or residences to gain access to the vehicle and/or residence. An individual checking front doors of residences to locate any unattended packages, or individuals following delivery trucks to see where the truck is dropping off packages. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING DEFINITIONS OF CRIME Robbery Robbery is the taking of property from another by using force or by using fear. Assault An assault is an unlawful attempt, coupled with the present ability, to commit a violent injury on another person. Battery- (Misdemeanor battery) is any willful and unlawful touching of another. (Felony battery) is the use of force or violence upon the person of another that causes serious bodily in jury. **Assault is when a person swings their arm and battery is when that arm makes contact with another person. ** Aggravated Assault Assault upon another person with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm or by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Burglary The intent upon entry into a property to commit grand theft, petty theft, or any felony. 11

13 SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT INCIDENTS IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK Burglary, Arrest 10/06/ Hours Lake St/ 5th St A witness observed a suspect jimmy the front door of the apartment building and proceed to the apartment s bicycle storage area and check which bicycles were locked. Witness called 911 and the suspect attempted to flee. The witness chased the suspect, who stopped and pulled out a knife. The witness was concerned for his safety so he grabbed the suspect s arm and wrestled the suspect to the ground. Responding officers placed the suspect in handcuffs and searched him, locating a knife and a screwdriver. The suspect was on parole from the CDC for burglary. The suspect was arrested and booked at County Jail on the following charges: Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Arrest 10/07/ Hours MLK JR Dr/ Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr Officers responding to an auto-burglary in progress located an individual matching the description of the suspect, wearing a face mask, riding a Ford GoBike on MLK Jr Dr in the direction opposite to traffic and looking into parked vehicles. The officers conducted a cold show with the witnesses, who confirmed similar build and clothes but were unable to positively identify suspect s face due to the mask he was wearing. A search of the suspect s backpack revealed two loaded high-capacity magazines, burglary tools, and credit cards and identification not belonging to him. The suspect was on parole for burglary and on probation for petty theft and possession of heroin. The suspect was arrested and booked at County Jail on the following charges: Probation Violation, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a High-capacity Magazine, and possession of burglary tools. 13
