3 INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT DR. NARESH AGGARWAL Dr. Naresh Aggarwal, of Batala, Punjab, India, was elected to serve as first Vice President of Lions Clubs International at the association s 99 th International Convention held in Fukuoka, Japan, June 24 through 28, Dr. Naresh is chairman of companies specializing in steel and agricultural products. A lifetime member of the Batala Smile Lions Club since 1974, Vice President Dr. Naresh has served with great distinction as club President and District. He also served as chairman of the Council of Governors for MD 321 in Dr. Naresh served as International Director from 1998 to He earned great appreciation by achieving significant membership growth while serving as Global Membership Team Area Leader. He was a faculty and group leader for DGE Seminars at three International Conventions. He also served as International Board Appointee three times, and as Global Leadership Team constitutional area leader (CA- 6). Vice President Dr. Naresh is trustee and vice chairperson of Lions Quest in India Foundation and has also served on the National Sight First Committee. He is the chief patron of Dainik Prarthana Sabha, which operates charity projects in Batala. He is vice president of Age - Care India, a charitable society for the care and welfare of elderly people. He has been trustee and patron to many other projects. Dr. Naresh has received 23 International President's Medals and the Ambassador of Goodwill Award. He is a major lead gift donor and humanitarian partner of Lions Clubs International Foundation. Dr. Naresh and his wife, Navita, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons, one daughter and seven grandchildren. Dr. Naresh also shares a birthday with the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones. 3
4 CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR TOM GORDON Tom Gordon of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada was elected to serve a twoyear term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association s 100 th International Convention held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, June 30 through July 4, Director Gordon is a retired educator and owner of a human resources training company. A member of the Newmarket North Lions Club since 1982, he has held many offices within the association, including club secretary, treasurer, and president, zone and region chairperson, district governor and council chairperson and multiple district GLT co-ordinator. In addition, Director Gordon has presented training and information seminars at local, multiple district, and international conventions. Director Gordon is also a Lions Quest trainer and trainer-of-trainers and has presented Lions Quest workshops across Canada and the USA since He is also a member of the faculty of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum. In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the Membership Key Award, the Extension Award, two International Leadership Awards, and two International President s awards. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to his Lions activities, Director Gordon has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, and has served on the board of directors of York Region Addiction Services, Habitat for Humanity and Lions Quest Canada. Director Gordon and his wife, Lion Gillian, have two daughters, one son, two nieces, three grandchildren, and four great nieces. 4
