11 Hospital Window Heal Tips BEST TIME OF ICE OR HEAT, INJURY Ice compressions is recommended after injury and heat fomentation after 24 hrs: ice tends to constrict surrounding e blood vessles and reduce inflammation, heat on e oer side increase e blood flow to e area and can cause inflammation if given immediately after injury. BEST TIME TO TAKE MULTIVITAMIN Two men, bo seriously ill, occupied e same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain e fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to e room s only window. The oer man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of eir wives and families, eir homes, eir jobs, eir involvement in e military service, where ey had been on vacation. Every afternoon when e man in e bed by e window could sit up, he would pass e time by describing to his roommate all e ings he could see outside e window. The man in e oer bed began to live for at one hour period where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all e activity and color of e world outside. The window overlooked a park wi a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on e water while children sailed eir model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of e city skyline could be seen in e distance. As e man by e window described all is in exquisite detail, e man on e oer side of e room would close his eyes and imagine e picturesque scene. One warm afternoon e man by e window described a parade passing by. Alough e oer man couldn t hear e band he could see it. In his mind s eye as e gentlemen by e window portrayed it wi descriptive words. Days and weeks passed. One morning, e day nurse arrived to bring water for eir bas only to find e lifeless body of e man by e window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called e hospital attendants to take e body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, e oer man asked if he could be moved next to e window. The nurse was happy to make e switch and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at e real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out e window beside e bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked e nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful ings outside is window The nurse responded at e man was blind and could not even see e wall. She said, Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you. auor unkown At meal time: If multivitamin is taken wi meal, absorption of most of e vitamins and minerals is more an on empty stomach. BEST TIME TO BUY YOUR SHOES At e end of e day: Feet tend to swell and get larger as e day goes on, so shoes bought in e morning could easily become torturous when you wear em in e evening. BEST TIME TO TAKE WARM BATH One or two hours, before going to bed: A warm ba can cause an immediate artificial rise in your metabolism, making it hard to sleep. After one or two hours, metabolism makes your sleep deeper. BEST TIME TO TAKE MEDICATION FOR OSTEOARTHRITIS Before going to bed, so at when you get up after 8 hours of immobility, enough medication has been administrated to reduce e morning stiffness of e affected joints. BEST TIME TO EXERCISE IN THE MORNING After taking a warm shower: The shower can cause loosening of body joints & e morning exercise becomes easy.
