This is in addition to 2440 MW already operational through Ratnagiri Gas Plant (1940 MW) and Mouda 500 MW. Schemes worth ` 4000 Crore are also being implemented by Power Ministry in Maharashtra as stated by Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon ble Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge) at a well attended public meeting at NTPC site, on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of Mouda Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) at Mouda in Nagpur district in Maharashtra on January 04, Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon ble Chief Minister, Maharashtra appealed to the Centre regarding the coal requirement, for Maharashtra's Power needs. Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD stated NTPC generates 27.5 percent of the total power generated by the country. Informing about Mouda Project, the CMD said that the plant is generating 500 MW power Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon ble Union Minister of State for Power, Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon'ble Chief Minister Maharashtra, Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC and other dignitaries at the Foundation Stone laying ceremony of Mouda Stage-II (2x660MW) at Mouda and capacity will be increased by 1320 MW on installation of 2 x 660 MW besides adding 500 MW second unit to stage-i. NTPC Registers a Record Growth in Capacity Addition NTPC Limited, India's largest power generating company with an installed capacity of 39,674 MW, after having declared a capacity of 3820 MW on commercial operation in the initial Nine-months of the Financial Year , has declared a growth in profit by 24.24% in the Un-audited Financial Results announced for the Ninemonths of Financial Year NTPC added 24% of the total capacity commissioned in the country during the Nine-months period of current fiscal. The Un-audited total income for the Ninemonths of Financial Year stands at `50, Crore as against ` 47, Crore reported for the corresponding Nine-months in previous year, thus, registering an increase of 5.74% on Nine-month basis. For the same period, the Company declared an Un-audited Profit after Tax of ` 8, Crore as compared to ` 6, Crore declared in the corresponding Nine-months of previous year, thus, registering an increase of 24.24% on Nine-months basis. For the Q3 of Financial Year , the Unaudited total income stands at ` 16, Crore while the Un-audited PAT stands at `2, Crore as compared to `16, Crore and ` 2, Crore respectively for the corresponding Q3 of previous year, thus, registering an increase of 1.76% in the Unaudited total income and 21.89% in the Unaudited PAT.

3 Media Appreciation Programme at Korba A Media Appreciation Programme was conducted at Korba on th 11 January, 2013 in which over forty media-persons from print and electronic media, in and around Korba district took part. Addressing the gathering, Shri S K Roy, GM, NTPC Korba highlighted the generation as well as various other initiatives such as CSR, Environment and Ash Utilisation taken up by the station. Shri S K Roy, GM, Korba interacting with the participants NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA), the R&D wing of NTPC held its 4th Research Advisory Council (RAC) meeting on 22nd January at its Greater Noida Complex. RAC is an advisory body constituted to guide, support and steer research and technology development of NTPC. Padmashri Dr. V K Saraswat, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and Director General, DRDO presided over the meeting as Chairman of RAC along with 5 external renowned national and international scientists, academicians and power professionals. The Council appreciated the Pilot Plants set up at NETRA Complex and the progress made in the last one year. 4 Long Service Awards Ceremony at ER-I Shri U P Pani presenting the long service award to a recipient 31 employees of NTPC ER-I, Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL) and Nabinagar Power Generating Company Limited (NPGCL) were honoured with Long Service Award of the company at a function, organised by Eastern Region I Headquarters at Patna on January 26, In all, 29 employees received gold coins and certificates for 25 years of continuous service in NTPC, while two got silver plaques and certificates for 15 years of continuous service. Nav Nirman- A CSR Initiative by NSPCL ED (Security & Co-ordination) Visits Khargone As Shri Vishwaroop, CEO, NSPCL addressing the audience part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, NTPC SAIL Power Company Pvt. Ltd. (A Joint Venture of NTPC and SAIL), Corporate Centre has tied up with Janhit Society for Social Welfare, a New Delhi based NGO. The focus of this initiative "Nav Nirman" would be on providing Education, Vocational Training and OPD Health checkup to underprivileged women and children of Azadpur and Mukherjee Nagar Slums. The program was inaugurated by Shri Vishwaroop, CEO, NSPCL on 31st December who emphasized on the need for Organizations to focus on Community Development. ED (Security & Co-ordination), NTPC with other senior officials at Khargone at the newly acquired land for the project site Shri Anand Kumar, ED (Security & Coordination) visited NTPC Khargone on 24th January. Shri Kumar visited the project site and took an overview of the land acquired for the project. During the site visit, he reviewed the security aspects and gave suggestions to team Khargone for its further improvement. 5 Ratnagiri Commissions LNG Terminal Senior officials of Ratnagiri (RGPPL) at the commissioning of LNG Terminal at Ratnagiri Ratnagiri (RGPPL) has successfully commissioned LNG terminal on th 10 January, On commissioning of this LNG terminal, India gets its third LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal at Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. For commissioning of LNG terminal, Ratnagiri got its LNG Cargo Vessel "LNG PIONEER" carrying 1,38,000 cubic meters of LNG. This was safely berthed at st the RGPPL LNG Jetty on 31 December, The LNG was sourced by GAIL (India) Ltd. from GAZPROM of Russia. Cardiac Care Camp inaugurated at NTPC Dadri Shri A N Dave, RED (NC&CA) lighting a ceremonial lamp at the Cardiac Care Camp A Cardiac Care Camp at NTPC Dadri was inaugurated by Shri A N Dave, RED (NC&CA) on January 24, Shri D K Sood, General Manager (Incharge), NTPC Dadri, Dr. B B Dash, CMO, NTPC Hospital and doctors/specialists were also present on the occasion. The camp was organized by NTPC Dadri hospital in association with Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, Ghaziabad. On this occasion Dr.(Col.) Nikhil Kumar, Head, (Cardiology), Yashoda Group of Hospitals gave an overview about the occurence of heart attack among patients and preventive measures of the disease to be taken through a presentation. Dr. Kumar also emphasized upon the awareness about cardiac care and life style modifications. The screening of as many as 87 patients for heart disease was done at the camp jointly by the team of doctors/specialists from NTPC Hospital and Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital,Ghaziabad. Cardiac Care camp in progress E-Procurement Workshop Organized by NCR-HQ Employees at E-Procurement workshop With the objective to meet Company's strategy for achieving 100% E- Procurement/E-Tender, a two day Workshop on "E-Procurement/E- Tender" was organized on 14th & 15th January, 2013 at PMI-Noida by C&M Department of NCR-HQ with support from Corporate SRM-ERP Group and PMI-Noida. Shri Dave interacted with end users and suggested that E-Procurement will not only bring transparency and speed in the procurement process but ensure confidence in the NTPC systems by Vendors and overall efficiency. First day of the Workshop was for end users of NCR Stations. Shipra Singh, Smt. Nisha Jha, Smt. Sadhana Dave, Smt. Rekha Sood, President, Jagriti Samaj and office bearers of Saheli Club and Jagriti Samaj also graced the occasion. As many as 38 food stalls and fun games were put up at the Anand Mela. The Human Resources Deptt., Bal Bhawan and Bal Vatika also put up the stalls and displayed their respective activities. The Camp was inaugurated by Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC. Shri S P Singh, Director (HR) and other senior officials of NTPC were also present on the occasion. A total of 180 donors donated blood in the camp out of which 140 people donated at EOC and 40 persons donated at PMI. Employees from Scope, EOC, NETRA, PMI, NCR, Hydro & other associates came forward in large numbers and participated in this noble cause. 8 Workshop on Sustainable Development NTPC Dr. Amalendu Sinha, Director (CIMFR) (2nd from L) releasing the workshop proceedings along with Shri D K Agrawal, ED (NETRA), Shri A K Mohindru, GM (NETRA) and Shri S K Dave, GM (NETRA) NETRA in collaboration with Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR) Dhanbad organized a two day national workshop `Coal to Energy for Sustainable Development' on 10th and 11th January 2013 at PMI, Noida. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Amalendu Sinha, Director (CSIR-CIMFR) and highlighted the need to work on sustainable fuels in order to reduce carbon foot print. There had been deliberations on various topics like coal blending, coal combustion, wear resistant materials, clean coal technologies, O&M issues in thermal power plants, environment & waste utilization etc. Welfare Activity by Bal Bhawan, Noida As a part of the welfare activity by NTPC Bal Bhawan Samiti for the underprivileged, 2 Nos. While complimenting the ladies of Township for their efforts towards domestic safety, he appealed them to be more cautious while using LPG at home. Visitors at the Mela Unchahar, Singrauli, Tanda, Rihand and Korba organized Mela for employees, members of their family and for the people staying in the vicinity. The Mela is an annual affair, organized by the Ladies Club of these Projects. Besides, drawing good response from employees and members of their family, the mela also attracted huge crowds from the local population. Various stalls depicting handicrafts and items made by the members of Ladies Club were put up for display. Food items made by members of the Ladies Club were also put on sale for the visitors. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but at the same time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. This is your house, he said, my gift to you. What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well. So, it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points, we do not give the job our best effort. Then, with a shock, we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on the wall says, Life is a do-it-yourself project. Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past.
