1 Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) 2 DAY STUDY TOUR 7 th March 2013 (Melbourne) - 8 th March 2013 (Traralgon) The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) welcomes you to participate in a 2 day Study Tour in March Participants will be provided with an overview of ASIC's registry operations. Information sessions will be conducted in our Melbourne office on the 7 th March 2013 and a tour of our registry office located in Traralgon (regional Victoria) will be conducted on 8 th March For further information on the ASIC Study Tour please contact crfauckland2013@gmail.com 1
2 Register Now Provisional agenda for the two day Study Tour is as follows (note, depending on number of participants the agenda may be altered to accommodate everyone). Study Tour Details - Day 1 (Melbourne) Today we will provide you with an overview of ASIC's registry business through information sessions conducted at our Melbourne office. ASIC's Melbourne office is located at 120 Collins Street, and consists of approximately 400 staff. The majority of staff located in our Melbourne office work in areas outside off our registry business (such as compliance and deterrence) with 30 staff working in our registry business. Morning - The morning session will include an overview of our strategic priorities, regulated population, organisational structure and registry transformation journey including our technology upgrade and key trends. We will break for lunch before beginning the afternoon session. Afternoon This afternoon we will explore a range of emerging government reforms, including the impacts these reforms have on our business and the challenges they bring to the organisation. Day 1 Morning Session Time Thursday 7 March 2013 Level Collins Street Melbourne Victoria Australia Welcome and Introductions Overview of ASIC and our registry business including: ASIC's strategic priorities, funding model, regulated population Update on ASIC's Registry Transformation Journey including: technology replacement, register overview, leveraging government reforms ASIC Registry Operations Update: including our structure, resources (staffing), business analysis, key trends and metrics 10:30am 12:30pm Break for lunch - Own arrangements (take time out to visit one of Melbourne's cafes or alternative dining options. Come back refreshed and ready to begin the afternoon session). Afternoon Session Emerging Reforms and challenges including: - Standard Business Reporting - Business Names and Joint Registration - Personal Properties and Securities Register - Australian Charities and Not for profits Commission - Financial Licensing reforms (Carbon and FOFA) - People and Change (organisational impacts) Time 2.00pm 4.00pm 2
3 Study Tour Details - Day 2 (Traralgon) Today you will travel from Melbourne to Traralgon via a VLine train. You can board the VLine train from either Southern Cross or Flinders Street railway stations. You will need to purchase a 'return' train ticket from a VLine ticketing booth. The cost of your rail fare will vary depending on whether you travel at peak or off peak time and in economy or first class. We suggest you purchase a return ticket travelling first class on the 7.12am VLine train (Southern Cross Station) from Melbourne to Traralgon (or 7.20am from Flinders Street Station), returning via economy class at 3.05pm from Traralgon to Melbourne (there are no first class seats available on this train). Note that reservations are generally required for the 7.12am train. The cost of your rail fare will be approximately $ The travel time each way is just over 2 hrs. Once you reach Traralgon, it is a minute walk to the ASIC office, which is located at Grey Street. The ASIC Office in Traralgon is the third largest ASIC office in Australia. Approximately 300 staff work in the Traralgon office with the majority working in our registry business. Today you will tour the Traralgon office, and will see firsthand our document processing, system and online services, compliance and customer management teams. You will also tour our client contact centre, document imaging and finance areas. An Australian BBQ lunch will be provided. 4 Getting There Melbourne Airport to/from CBD There are a variety of transport options available at the Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) including Taxis, Sky Bus, and Car Rentals The cost of a Taxi fare will vary according to the location of your hotel and whether you are travelling in peak or off peak periods. The fare may cost from $50.00AUD - $100.00AUD (one way to the Melbourne CBD). Melbourne Traralgon The travel time from Melbourne to Traralgon (one way) by Railway is approximately 2 hours. It is a scenic and relaxing trip and will cost approximately $39.00 AUD per person (return fare). Time table, fare and ticketing information can be found at It is a minute walk from the Traralgon Railway Station to the ASIC Office. You can purchase tickets at Flinders Street or Southern Cross Railway stations. If travelling first class or on a peak service a reservation may be required. Time tables are subject to minor changes. 5 Accommodation Melbourne ASIC's Melbourne Office is located on Level 24, 120 Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The office is located in the Central Business District (CBD). There are a variety of hotel options available nearby. 5

This Motel is of a high standard and is conveniently located to the ASIC office (10-15 minute walk). Alternative accommodation options are available and can be searched online.
