Introduction RALLY GUIDE Welcome Welcome to the 2018 Subaru Rally Tasmania, Round 4 of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship, Round 3 of the Tasmanian Rally Championship and Round 3 of the Buckby Subaru RS Challenge. We are extremely pleased to bring on a range of sponsors which has been pivotal to placing Subaru Rally Tasmania back on the ARC Calendar. Special thanks must go to Ben Newman and the team at Buckby Subaru for their efforts in securing our major sponsors. We are excited to announce that for 2018 we have secured significant support from Buckby Subaru, the City of Launceston, Events Tasmania and the Examiner Newspaper. These major sponsors, along with a raft of other sponsors have been critical in securing a spot on the calendar. Subaru Rally Tasmania would also not be possible without the cooperation of the three rally clubs in Tasmania. I would like to personally thank these clubs for their endless assistance in providing members to the senior organising committee, right down to all the roadside officials pool that we draw down upon for the event. The City of Launceston has also provided a magnificent sealed venue for our service park in the centre of Launceston. Along with event HQ facilities within the Aurora Stadium environs right next door, the City of Launceston has also provided an excellent Super Special Stage within the same precinct, making the overall competitor / service crew experience at the Subaru Rally Tasmania easy. We also are excited to announce that we have secured a sponsorship deal with SeaRoad Shipping for service trucks, tow vehicles, trailers and rally cars to be transported across Bass Straight. It is envisaged that freight costs will be approximately half of the ticket fare that would be expected on the Spirit of Tasmania, with the average tow vehicle and car trailer costing $1,500 one way between Port Melbourne and Devonport. 5 1.2 Purpose of the guide The purpose of this Guide is to provide valuable planning information for crews intending to compete in Subaru Rally Tasmania, and for those people involved in and around the event who are not participating directly in competition, such as service crew, media, sponsors, stakeholders and contractors. A more detailed Rally Guide will be published closer to the rally. With the exception of any part of this document which is specifically referred to in any regulation or Bulletin, this document has no regulatory power and is issued as a guide only. 1.3 Summary of round and time of year Subaru Rally Tasmania will be a National Championship Special Stage Rally, run under the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA, the National Competition Rules (NCR) of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS), the National Rally Code and the 2018 CAMS Australian Rally Championship (ARC) Regulations. The event will run over the winter months and all surfaces chosen for the event, both in competition and service location, have been selected for their all weather suitability. 1.4 Sponsors and Local Support The event could not go ahead without substantial support from the following sponsors. These businesses are listed under Local Services at the end of this guide. 1.5 Super Special Stage We will be holding a 900m Super Special Stage adjacent to the Service Park at Inveresk on Friday night. The stage will be run under lights and will be serviced by local stall holders for both race and local produce items. 1.6 Forest Stages Summary The core of the event takes place in the forests surrounding the City of Launceston. Five stages are run twice during Saturday's Heat 1. The first two tests are located in the Diddleum Plains area which are smooth flowing stages. The second loop of stages in Heat 1 takes place in the Sideling Range and Lisle State Forest. These stages are quite contrasting to the first two, with Lisle State Forest comprising of slow, tight and technical sections.

6 Sunday s Heat 2 is based north of Launceston, with three stages being run twice. The first two tests are held in the Retreat Forest, which is known for its fast and open forestry roads. The final stage returns to the Lisle State Forest, which will also be the longest and most demanding. 2. 9 6. SeaRoad Shipping Information RALLY GUIDE 1 Subaru Rally Tasmania are pleased to announce that SeaRoad Shipping are our event shipping partner. All competition and service vehicle shipping can be arranged by Subaru Rally Tasmania for competitors via SeaRoad. Shipping will be from the Port of Melbourne to the Port of Devonport and will only cover shipping for the vehicle/ trailer combination. Please be aware that there is no capacity on the ship for passengers. The cost of shipping for each crew coming to Tasmania will be dependent on the length and width of the vehicle/trailer combination that will be shipped. The following are examples of shipping costs to assist teams in planning for freighting team vehicles to Subaru Rally Tasmania Shipping will be calculated based on vehicle dimensions, however this can be roughly calculated at $140 per lineal metre of the overall vehicle length and up to 2.5 metres wide. Please be aware of the following condition of travel on the SeaRoad Vessel: a. All vehicles must meet Tasmanian Quarantine rules as listed HERE b. Drummed fuel may not be carried on the ship. Please make alternative arrangements if fuels other than pump fuel is required. Empty jerry cans may be transported. c. SeaRoad is an uninsured carrier. Most insurance companies will extend, at no extra cost, an existing vehicle policy to cover passage on the SeaRoad. You must discuss this with your insurance company. d. All vehicles and trailers departing Melbourne must be clean and void of any dirt, mud and grime. e. Vehicles must be dropped at the freight depots at either end SeaRoad will load vehicles onto the ship. 7. Testing a. Testing will be provided to those crews who have purchased an entry to the testing day that will be held on Wednesday 25th July. The testing location will be less than 60 minutes from Launceston CBD with specific detail being advised to competitors who have purchased testing as part of their entry.

10 8. Scrutineering / Sealing and Marking a. ARC documentation will be available on the following days and must be completed prior to presentation of that vehicle for scrutiny: Tuesday 24th July (ARC Only) Wednesday 25th July (ARC and TRC) Friday 27th July (TRC Only) b. Road Books, Service Instructions, Door Panels and Organiser s Advertising will be available for collection upon completion of documentation. c. ARC Scrutiny, will held on Thursday 26th July. Scrutiny will commence at from 3pm and conclude at approximately 7pm. d. All TRC competitors must present their vehicles for official scrutiny & turbo scrutiny at the regional scrutineering locations on Thursday 19th July. Documentation is not required to be presented prior to this scrutiny. 9. RallySafe a. RallySafe wiring loom, antennas and mounting kit can be purchased for $ (plus GST & postage). Details can be found at the RallySafe Fitting Kits web page. b. The RallySafe GPS units and tracking systems will be available at Scrutiny. c. The correct functioning and installation of the equipment will be checked at Scrutiny. 10. Reconnaissance a. A two-pass reconnaissance has been scheduled for Thursday 26th July between the hours of 7am and 5pm. b. All competitors taking part in reconnaissance must register, during Documentation at Rally HQ, to get all the necessary documentation before starting their reconnaissance. 11. Shakedown and VIP Ride Day b. VIP rides will be conducted at Symmons Plains Raceway on Friday 27 th July from 11am til 2pm. c. All competitors at the Shakedown must have all livery, numbers and signage in place on their vehicles and must have completed pre-event scrutiny. It is also a condition of entry that at least two VIP rides are given if requested. 12. Event Start a. A ceremonial start in which all crews and their vehicles must participate, will be held on Friday 27th July from 1800hrs. b. Heat 1, Saturday s Section 2 will start from the overnight Parc Fermé. A short service will be provided prior to SS2. c. There will be a Saturday overnight Parc Fermé, which is within walking distance of the Service Park.

11 13. Service Park RALLY GUIDE 1 Service Park and Location is at 2 Invermay Road, Invermay ( , ) a. The Inveresk Railyards and York Park Precinct was once Tasmania's largest industrial site and is now the major cultural heart of Launceston. It is home to York Park, one of two current Australian Football League venues in Tasmania, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, TAFE Tasmania, and The School of Visual and Performing Arts. The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) has a part of the museum located at the Inveresk Precinct. Its other site is at Royal Park and when combined it becomes the largest museum in Australia located out of a capital city. It includes a working planetarium and displays related to Launceston's industrial environments and railway workshops. b. The Service Park is located at the Inveresk Railyard main car park at the Lindsay St and Invermay Roads intersection. Trailers and transporters and additional service vehicles that are not required for servicing duties, are to be parked at the parking facility adjacent to Barnards Way, which is less than 50 metres from the service park. Only registered service vehicles will be permitted to enter the Service Park and the Service Parking area. Competitors will be advised of their allocated service bay before arrival at the Service Park. c. Service vehicles must access the Service Park from the Invermay Road / Lindsay Street roundabout only. Use of competitor only lanes by service vehicles during that period, without the approval of the Service Park Manager, may be noted by an official of the rally and may result in fines to the relevant competitor. d. The Service Park will be located on a level sealed bitumen surface. Service areas will be strictly monitored as the facility is reasonably compact. Each ARC / ARC2 team will be provided with an area 9m x 9m, each TRC competitor will be provided with an area of 6m x 6m and each Buckby Subaru RS challenge competitor will be provided with an area of 6m x 6m. Additional service space may be expanded though consultation with the Event Manager, depending on specific requirements of each team. All written requests for additional service park space must be submitted prior to close of entries. e. An optional car wash will be provided by a local community group for competitors to wash down vehicles prior to entering each service and the final Parc Fermé. The car wash will be user pays ($5 per wash), with all proceeds going to the community group. 14. Remote Refuelling Both Saturday and Sunday will have a remote refuelling requirement. a. Remote Refuel 1 will be located at Myrtle Park Recreation Ground, Tasman Highway, Targa b. Remote Refuel 2 will be located at the Lebrina Memorial Hall, 905 Golconda Road, Lebrina 15. Event Finish The rally will finish at the Inveresk Service Park on Sunday 29 th July with the first car due at approximately 1530hrs.

All media wishing to attend the event must register their intent via the event website prior to the event. Media registrations can be made at b. Upon arrival at the event, Media personnel must sign on at Rally HQ, presenting their CAMS ID and vest for inspection. Once signed onto the event, maps, documents and accreditation will be issued. c. The deadline for Subaru Rally Tasmania Media Accreditation is Friday 20 th July Welcome Function The official Subaru Rally Tasmania welcome function will be held immediately after the compulsory briefing at Peppers Silo Hotel, in Lindsay Street Invermay from 6pm on Thursday 26 th July. All crews, service crews and officials are encouraged to attend. 18. Post Event Function The Post Event Function will also be held at Peppers Silo Hotel. We are encouraging competitors and officials to come and relax, socialise and enjoy a drink at the bar and swap stories about the event. Restaurant meals will be available.
