Meanwhile, the rapid development of Chinese intelligent transportation and the in-depth application of information technology are continuously bringing new surprises to us. These are the reasons why we would like to invite you to the fourteenth ITS Asia-Pacific Forum to be held in China. The Yangtze River, the mother river of China, is the third largest river in the world. Over the past thousands of years, it has bred the Chinese civilization and nourished numerous Chinese people. 3 Introduction Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Chinese Ministry of Transport extend a warm invitation to join the leading Asia-Pacific regional transportation specialists on the occasion for the 14 th ITS Asia Pacific Forum & Exhibition in Nanjing, China, April 27-29, Under the theme Transferable, Connectable, Sustainable, this one-of-a-kind event will provide a unique setting for sharing proven and an innovative spirit for the region s mobility needs, latest industry technologies and global best practices from all over the world and how they can be replicated and/or modified to meet the region s specific needs. The event will feature a series of Youth session, as well as Plenary, Executive, Technical and Sponsor/Exhibitor s Sessions. The 10,000 m 2 exhibition is also accompanying beside, and showcases outdoors. 4 About the Program The 14th ITS Asia-Pacific Forum & Exhibition will consist of multiple public sessions, including plenary, executive, technical, special, and newly added youth sessions, as well as exhibition and showcases, series of social events, and interesting technical tours. PLENARY SESSIONS (PL) Top level transport officials and leading industry representatives will present insightful speeches on ITS policies, initiatives and international development trends. Plenary sessions will set the stage for, and are at the core of, activities for the ITS-AP Forum this year. A short Opening Ceremony will take place prior to the first day Plenary, which it will also feature a special local entertainment of Nanjing cultural performance. EXECUTIVE SESSIONS (ES) High-level industry executives, public officials and academics from around the world will share their expert global and strategic views on ITS achievements, issues and challenges. SPECIAL SESSIONS (SS) Special sessions are set for sponsors and exhibitors that focus on specific intervention areas being developed in cooperation with stakeholder organizations. TECHNICAL SESSIONS (TS) The technical & scientific portion of the program is being developed through the evaluation of numerous abstracts and papers by a committee of recognized ITS experts and researchers. The papers reflect original research or innovation in technical, institutional, economic, business and policy issues that are relevant, recent and significant slotted across multiple technical & scientific sessions. YOUTH SESSIONS (YS) The Forum, for the first time, set "Youth Sessions ", aims to strengthen the academic communication and exchange of young students in transportation and related professionals, catalytic young technical talent faster and better growth. In order to attract more young people deeply involved in transportation professionals and to encourage better quality paper contributions. EXHIBITION & SHOWCASES The Exhibition offers 10,000 m 2 in area, plus extra space for showcases, based on Asia-Pacific market, various technologies and new products will be shown. SOCIAL EVENTS Delegates can experience the Chinese cultural atmosphere at the Gala Dinner, Youth Party, and Enterprisers Salon which will be great networking opportunities. 6 Call for Papers The 14th Intelligent Transport System Asia Pacific Forum will be held April 27-29, 2015, in Nanjing, China. The forum will address critical issues and challenges emerging from the development of a transferable, connectable, and sustainable transportation system. In keeping with this core vision the Technical Committee invites you to join our discussions by submitting a paper. For more details regarding paper preparation, please refer to Notes for Preparing Full Paper at the Forum official website: Submission All papers should present original research that has not been published elsewhere. Considering the fact that English is the official language of the forum, it is encouraged that the paper will be written in English. However, papers in Chinese will also be accepted and will be included in special Chinese sessions. The abstract should be no less than 150 words and should not exceed 300 words. The overall length of the paper, including tables, diagrams, charts, abstract and references must not exceed 7000 words. 10 Technical Tours A series of technical tours in Nanjing will be conducted to get a closer look at the deployment of the latest ITS technologies in highway, railway, and waterway, and in urban transportation, etc. All the technical tours set time on Wednesday April 29 afternoon as all sessions finished, that each tour will spend less than a half day. Nanjing, called Ning for short, is located in the Yangtze River Delta, the history has left abundant Chinese historical and cultural relics in Nanjing as it was made as capital in ten dynasties in history, known as one of the four major ancient capitals in China together with Beijing, Xi an and Luoyang.
