1 con UPDATED International Cooperative Engagement Program for Polar Research (ICE-PPR) workshop Agenda Oct 2017 Anchorage, Alaska Overview: The Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security, (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate Office of University Programs, (OUP) Center of Excellence in Maritime Research hosted by the University of Alaska. ICE-PPR is a Polar oriented multi-national event that addresses needs of the U.S. Navy and other maritime operators in the Polar Regions and seek solutions via current/emerging technologies or new research. A supporting theme for this ICE-PPR is to encourage participants to compare and contrast some of the unique differences of the Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort Sea region from the area associated with the Barents Sea. ADAC is hosting ONR s ICE-PPR meeting from in Anchorage Alaska, principally at the Hotel Captain Cook. The ICE-PPR meeting follows ADAC s Arctic-related Incidents of National Significance (Arctic IoNS) workshop held from at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The Arctic IoNS workshop addresses research needs associated with a fictitious future Arctic oil-spill venue in the Beaufort Sea. The 2017 ICE-PPR venue intends to provide details on Polar science and technology research conducted via the University of Alaska (UA) and UA s Arctic Domain Awareness Center. Included in the venue is a planned display and demonstration focused on emerging technologies and autonomous/remote controlled vehicles and a visit to a primary deep water and multi-modal port facility in the sub-arctic region. Focus should be on: o Planned and desired investments o Specific needs which highlight where others may contribute. o Specific examples and results to illustrate and guide discussion. Weather: is very late fall for Anchorage area. Very often first heavy snowfall of winter occurs prior to 31. Attendees should plan in bringing winter weather clothing and footwear to correspond to early season snow.
