Where do our passengers come from? o Throughout Central California and the Central Coast Avoiding congestion and cost at other airports Direct to Guadalajara is a draw o Mostly from 6 counties Monterey Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Kings, and Tulare
2014 Passenger Market Study o Evaluated originating passengers within a 50 mile radius of FAT o Includes 6 counties and 68 towns and cities o 86% of those passengers came from 10 cities o 71% of passengers chose FAT Mariposa Co. o 29% chose other airports mostly LAX (14%) and SFO (8%) Merced Co. Madera Co. Madera Clovis Fresno Co. Fresno Kingsburg Sanger Reedley Hanford Lemoore Visalia Tulare Tulare Co. Kings Co. Source: FAT Market Leakage Analysis, RS&H, Nov.2015
Other Commercial Service Airports o FAT 8 airlines, ±780,000 annual enplanements o LAX 66 airlines, ±36M enplanements Legend Fresno Yosemite International Airport SMF Other Commercial Service Airports Previous or Limited Commercial Service SCK OAK SFO 50 mi. reference MOD SJC MCE FAT o SFO 48 airlines, ±24M enplanements MRY VIS o Visalia (VIS) and Modesto (MOD) no longer provide commercial service o Merced (MCE) provides very limited commercial service (Boutique Air) SBP SBA BFL LAX BUR LGB ONT SAN
Enplanements Where do our passengers go? o Anywhere in the world via 11 non-stop destinations o On 8 airlines SEA PDX 11 non-stop destinations Alaska AeroMexico Allegiant Delta SkyWest United Express SLC DEN American Volaris SFO FAT LAS 800, , , , , , , , , ,000 Historical Annual Enplanements 778, , , , , , Year LAX SAN PHX GDL DFW
Regional GA Airports 14 airports w/in 50 miles o FAT has the longest runway, best instrument approaches, and the only ATC Tower Notes: ATC = Air Traffic Control.
Regional GA Airports 4 w/ runways > 5000 o FAT has the longest runway, best instrument approaches, and the only ATC Tower o 5,000 + jet capable runways at Hanford (HJO), Madera (MAE), Merced (MCE), and Visalia (VIS) Notes: Some models of corporate/business jet type can operate on runways less than 5,000 but for general planning purposes, 5,000 represents a common operational metric for most operators.
Regional GA Airports Market of 900 based aircraft o FAT has the longest runway, best instrument approaches, and the only ATC Tower 28 o 5,000 + jet capable runways at Hanford (HJO) Madera (MAE) Merced (MCE) Visalia (VIS) o Total of ±900 based aircraft FAT = 21% FAT+FCH = 35% o Sierra Sky Park (E79) is a fly- 2 in residential community
Pilot/Aircraft Owner Surveys o Three different surveys were distributed: FAT Based Aircraft FCH Based Aircraft Transient Pilot Surveys o Common response themes: FAT is attractive to business/corporate aviation because of facilities, services, location and ATC. Business flying will likely be greater in 2017 than FCH is attractive to personal flyers and those looking for a sense of community, avoiding the complexities of ATC and security at FAT, and lower costs. Hangar availability and price, fuel price, and FBO services are highly important to all aircraft owners/operators. Noted deficiency in FAT hangar space for jet aircraft. Costs at FAT and FCH appear higher than some other airports in the region. The condition of the general aviation ramp at FAT is of significant concern o Info is consistent with forecast assumptions and informs the evaluation of facility requirements at FAT.
