6 DAY 01 USA/EUROPE Depart this evening on overnight flight to Europe. ITINERARY DAY 02 EUROPE/KILIMANJARO/ARUSHA This morning you will arrive in Europe. Connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro arriving in the evening. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy dinner this evening. Arusha Coffee Lodge is close to Arusha Airport and is set amongst the coffee plantation. The hotel has 30 rooms, which are large with en suite bathrooms with separate shower and bath. There is a swimming pool and dinner at the lodge is provided around the swimming pool, which is either six-course, silver service or an a la carte menu is offered. The park is situated in the Great Rift Valley where hippos abound along with the excellent bird life as well as elephant and baboon. Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is in the southwest region of Lake Manyara National Park, surrounded by a diverse forest environment. The ten tree-like houses that make up the lodges are cradled in the boughs of Mahogany trees and ensure privacy. Each tree house has an outdoor shower bath and double basin. 7 OR Chem Chem Safari Lodge is located in a private wildlife concession on the periphery of Tarangire National Park. Eight tents are spaced to ensure privacy and feature en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, hair dryer, in-room safe, terrace with daybed and spectacular views of surrounding countryside. A family tent is available for those traveling with children. The main lodge is made up of an expanded dining area, outside fire place, bar, library and boutique. The deck area is ideal for enjoying a sundowner cocktail with views of Lake Manyara in the distance. Between game drives there is an outdoor swimming pool and spa cottage offering a variety of treatments. Activities include guided bush walks on the conservancy, bush dinner or sundowners and game drives. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing all but the elephants feeding beneath them. During the dry season from June to November, animals concentrate along Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply. The area supports a great diversity of wildlife, including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, oryx and zebra. Lion, leopard and cheetahs are also present in the area. Up to 6,000 elephants inhabit Tarangire in the dry season.

8 Oliver s Camp is located inside the southern region of the park on an elevated ridge overlooking a flood plain. The ten oversized tents provide a classic bush experience with comfortable features such as en suite bathrooms with flush toilet and hot-cold water shower and a private verandah to enjoy quiet solitude. 9 Game Viewing Tarangire DAY 05 LAKE MANYARA or TARANGIRE/NGORONGORO Today you will depart with your guide and continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation area arriving at your lodge in the afternoon. (There is an optional visit to a Maasai village which can be arranged with your guide and payable directly). 10 OR The Highlands Ngorongoro, located on the slopes of the Olmoti volcano, offers an exclusive and refined experience to safariers. The camp is within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, which enables you to be game viewing on the Crater floor within 45 minutes. The camp features seven dome shaped suites each with their own wood burning stove and en suite bathroom with hot water shower and flushing toilet. The family tent consists of two full size tents, each with their own bathroom. The main lounge area includes separate dining and bar tents, sitting room and special fire pit highlighting sunset views. Accommodation: The Highlands Ngorongoro (Full Board) Private guide and vehicle DAY 06 NGORONGORO CRATER This morning depart the Crater Rim and descend for a morning of game viewing on the crater floor. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor and continue on an afternoon game drive (due to National Park regulations a total of 6 hours is allowed in the crater unless you pay extra extended permit). Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unflooded, intact caldera in the world. Known as the eighth wonder of the world, its vastness and beauty are truly overwhelming. Ngorongoro Crater itself is but a small portion of the 3,200-square-mile Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a World Heritage site that is characterized by a highland plateau with volcanic mountains as well as several craters, extensive savannah and forests. Altitudes range from 4,430 to 11,800 feet. Ngorongoro Crater is about 12 miles wide and its rim rises 1,200-1,600 feet off of its expansive 102-square-mile floor. The steep descent into the crater along winding roads takes minutes from the crater rim. The crater floor is predominantly grasslands (making game easy to spot) with two swamps fed by streams, and the Lerai Forest. The walls of the crater are lightly forested. Ngorongoro contains possibly the largest permanent concentration of wildlife in Africa, with an estimated average of 30,000 large mammals. In addition, this is one of the best reserves in Africa in which to see black rhino. Large concentrations of wildlife make Ngorongoro Crater their permanent home. Game viewing is good year-round. Because there is a permanent source of fresh water, there's no reason for much of the wildlife to migrate as they must do in the Serengeti. 11 DAY 07 NGORONGORO CRATER/SERENGETI This morning you will transfer to the Lake Manyara airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to the Serengeti. On arrival you will be met by your guide and continue to camp. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Serengeti is derived from the Maasai language and appropriately means "endless plain." The park's 5,700 square miles makes it larger than the state of Connecticut. Altitude varies from 3,120 to 6,070 feet. Nearly 500 species of birds and 35 species of large plains animals can be found in the Serengeti. The park may contain as many as 1.5 million wildebeest, 500,000 zebra, 300,000 Grant's gazelle, 250,000 Thomson's gazelle, 120,000 impala, 70,000 topi, 20,000 buffalo, 9,000 eland, 8,000 giraffe, 1,000 lion and 800 elephant. The huge herds of plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope dominate the park while the attendant predators such as lion and cheetah are to be found amongst the many kopjes scattered across the plain. Leopard can often be found draped in the trees along the Seronera River. From December-May wildebeest, zebra, eland and Thomson's gazelle usually concentrate on the treeless short-grass plains in the extreme southeastern Serengeti and western Ngorongoro Conservation Area near Lake Ndutu in search of short grass, which they prefer over the longer dry-stemmed variety. This is the best time to visit the Serengeti. In April and May, the height of the rainy season, a 4wd vehicle is highly recommended. The rut for wildebeest is concentrated over a three-week period and generally occurs at the end of April, May or early June. After a gestation period of eight and one-half months, approximately 90% of the pregnant cows will give birth on the short-grass plains within a six-week period between the mid/end of January and February. Zebra calving season is spread out over most of the year, with a slightly higher birth rate December-March. As a general rule, by June the migration has progressed west of Seronera. The migration then splits into three separate migrations: one west through the corridor toward permanent water and Lake Victoria and then northeast; the second due north, reaching the Maasai Mara of Kenya around mid-july; and the third northward between the other two to a region west of Lobo Lodge, where the group disperses. The best time to see wildebeest and zebra crossing near the Grumeti River in the western corridor is in June/early July and November. During July-September, the Serengeti's highest concentration of wildlife is in the extreme north. The first and second groups meet and usually begin returning to the Serengeti National Park in late October; the migration then reaches the central or southern Serengeti by December.

12 Destination Base Package Accommodations Southern Serengeti Namiri Plains Dunia Camp Olakira (Jan-Mar) Namiri Plains is located in the pristine eastern Serengeti known as Soit le Motonyi. Namiri means big cat in Swahili which is ideal as this area had been closed off the past 20 years as a cheetah sanctuary and now has the highest concentration of cheetah in East Africa. The area is also rich in other game as there is a permanent water source. Twice a year the migration of the wildebeest pass through this area on its migratory route. Namiri is the only camp in the region and the chances of seeing other vehicles is rare. The intimate features eight tents, including one honeymoon and one family tent, each with en suite bathroom and decorated with comfortable furnishings. The main lounge area is ideal for meeting new guests over cocktails followed by delicious cuisine. Activities include open-vehicle game drives, breakfast picnics on Soit Le Motonyi rock and sundowners on top of the kopjes. There is also the opportunity to visit a local community or participate in the Serengeti Cheetah Project (donation fee applies). Accommodation: Namiri Plains (Full Board) Shared game drives OR Dunia Camp is a permanent camp tucked between the central Seronera valley and the southern plains known as the Ndutu area, the region allows for excellent game viewing while staying away from the busier areas of the park. The camp is located just north of the Moru Kopjes area, a spectacular, lessvisited area of the Serengeti. Dunia Camp features eight large en suite tents, each with a comfortable king size or twin beds, with a large private verandah overlooking the plains. The bathrooms have flush toilets, double sinks and a safari shower. Meals are served in the dining tent which has a lovely lounge area too. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles, bird watching and picnics. Optional ballooning and visits to a local community can be arranged. 13 OR (Recommended for travel Jan-Mar when the camp is in the Southern Serengeti or can be used in lieu of Sayari Camp from Jun-Oct) Olakira is a small, seasonal mobile tented camp that moves through the Serengeti, following the Great Migration, one of the world s natural wonders. The camp is situated in the southern region from December 1-March 31. During June 01-November 15, it moves to the northern Serengeti and is ideally located on the Mara River on one of the traditional migration crossing sites. This is an exclusive camping site and no other camps are located in the region. Community visits are available when based in the northern Serengeti. The camp consists of nine luxury mobile tents with comfortable beds and bathroom facilities, an intimate mess tent serving top food and drinks, a lounge tent and fire place for drinks and relaxation and an opportunity to meet other guests and talk about the day s game viewing. Accommodation: Olakira Camp (Full Board) Shared game drives DAY 08 SERENGETI Enjoy a day of game viewing in the park. An optional balloon safari is available from this location. 14 Destination Base Package Accommodations Northern Serengeti Sayari Camp Kimondo Camp Serian Camp Kimondo Camp is an intimate seasonal mobile tented camp that enjoys two prime locations in the Serengeti. From July 1-October 31 the camp is located in the northern Serengeti in an area known as the Lamai Wedge. This location is ideal to witness the great migration and explore the region between the Mara River on the south, the Kenyan border to the north and the Siria escarpment to the west. Community visits are available when the camp is located in this region. From December 1-March 14 the camp relocates to the southern Serengeti in an area southeast of the Kusini area and an hour west of the Ndutu region. This is the ideal location to witness the calving season of the wildebeest. The area is remote and tents are set up with views of a permanent waterhole. The camp consists of eight luxury canvas tents with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms, an intimate mess tent serving top food and drinks, a lounge tent and fire place for drinks and relaxation and an opportunity to meet other guests and talk about the day s game viewing. Accommodation: Kimondo Camp (Full Board) Shared game drives OR Sayari Camp is based in the northern region of the park, a gem of an area that is off the beaten path. The region features loads of resident game and is good to visit year round, peaking during the Migration crossings from July through October. The camp has two separate wings, one with nine tents and the other with six tents each wing has their own dining tent serving top food and drinks and a cozy fire place and lounge/mess tent. The luxury tents feature comfortable beds and en suite bathroom facilities, with a private verandah overlooking the Serengeti landscape.

15 In addition to morning and afternoon game drives, optional walking safaris within the Serengeti are also offered (additional charges apply). A cultural visit to the Wakuria villages gives you insight in the traditional ways of life. You will see the vegetable growing program sponsored by Sayari in conjunction with the local community and the produce is purchased and used in the camp s cuisine. The seasonal camp is set up mid-june-mid-november in the north and then moves to the Southern Serengeti from December- March. Serian features eight stylish tents with en suite bathrooms and they are appointed with tasteful décor, comfortable furniture and a small sitting area with views of the rolling savannah and a fig-tree grove. The bathrooms include a flush toilet and bucket shower with hot water. Enjoy a sundowner cocktail served around the camp fire and delicious cuisine is served in the dining tent. 18 TOUR CODE: T12PremierPrivate Trip reports Tanzania is a country I loved. Somewhere along the line, they have done some wonderful things as a country. They have a big, diverse country, which is a blessing. Sometime, someone decided they would have no fences, which was brilliant. The landscapes, open, vast, beautiful are not marred by anything. The country, the people and its beauty, and the free movement of the animals has to be extraordinary. I loved the Maasai and how they have adapted to modernity, yet retained the essence of their culture. I know that isn't pure, and somewhat naive, but they looked pretty content to me. Safari: Loved little Chem Chem. They are doing it right. Loved Gibbs Farm, would have liked to have stayed there, but really it wouldn't work. The Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, fine with me. Staying on the western rim was the right thing. The Crater was something not to miss. Hardly could believe it. coming out of the Crater, a whole herd of Cape buffalo was walking out of the Crater, and crossed our road. I couldn't believe it. Take care, it was a great trip. All four of us have traveled quite extensively so pretty amazing that each of us felt this was their number one experience. Everything ran like clockwork, absolutely no glitches. The transport, accommodations, meals were all spot on and much more than we expected. I have to say what MADE our trip was John Bingo our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable ( an avid "birder" like all of us). enthusiastic, personable, excellent communicator and teacher. The staff at the the Kimondo Camp and Namiri Plains were soooo kind and hospitable, definitely right up there as a highlight of our trip. We saw a mother lion on a kopje nursing 4 tiny cubs, 6 male lions on a bluff next to camp overlooking a herd of buffalo which they plunder whenever hungry. Incredibly we saw 19 cheetah in 2 days. Mostly mothers with cubs! Another spectacular safari! Bill Harker Oliver's Camp was a great first stop. Good lodging, good food all delivered by what I would rate as the top management team of all the places we stayed. Kris was our guide for the night drive and walk and he was excellent. He was experienced, knowledgeable and as he had worked in most of the different safari countries in Africa was able to offer many interesting perspectives. Olakira was a nice camp, food, staff, guide (Elle) were all very good. Olakira was a Great experience with the bonus of the Wildebeest migration arriving on our last day. There is nothing like miles and miles of open range with thousands and thousands of wildebeest as far as you can see. We saw a couple of crossings, but there was also no shortage of the wildebeest just running here and there with no particular destination in mind. Again, a wonderful trip that went seamless. Tanzania was a great country to visit, the people were wonderful, friendly and care about their country. For future travelers, yes you can't drink the water, but the country, while poor, was clean and I always felt safe. Thanks again for all your help, you put a great plan together.
