4 Uganda KENYA The Masai Mara has been the preferred location for documentary filmmakers and serious photographers for years. This still holds true today despite having the reputation as being overcrowded. Simply put, the game viewing is the best in Africa. A great variety in a stunning setting in a small space. We average around km a day in the Mara on game drives compared to km a day in the Serengeti. Verdant green with plenty of water, the Mara has it all. The school holidays are always busy but aside from that for 8 months of the year the Mara has relative quiet. The Mara advantage is off-road driving is permitted in many areas so you can access the game close up and it is not shy! The private Mara North Conservancy allows riding, walking safaris, night drives and controlled off road driving. En-suite bathrooms have running water, flush loo, shower and hand carved bathtubs. A hosted eco-chic tented camp in grand style with a minimal footprint. Zanzibar style four posters and open bathrooms overlooking pods of hippo. 9 Nkorombo a traditional tented camp 45 minutes Available all year round Best times - Big Cats (all year) Migration (June to Nov) Babies (Nov to May) Location - The Masai Mara Reserve on a private campsite on the Mara River as seen in the Big Cat Diaries and African Cats by Disney nature. 5 traditional Meru Safari tents with en-suite flush loo s and a traditional safari shower. Location location location! Right amongst all the crossings and a year round destination with great cats and rhino on the doorstep. Ideal stay - 5 nights. Great to combine with 3 nights at Serian or Ngare Serian as we cannot walk or do night drives here. Game drives, photographic workshops, exclusive use of vehicle, top quality guides. 14 The Serengeti is an amazing wide-open space with little of the traffic of the Masai Mara, however it has fewer roads and in certain places can be as busy as the Masai Mara in the high season. This is why we have chosen to locate in some of the very quietest areas. Rwanda Burundi Uganda Serengeti National Park KENYA Masai Mara National Reserve East Africa Serengeti North July to Nov is focused on the river and we are here during the traumatic and very intense drama of the river crossings. It is all about following the huge herds of one and a half million Wildebeest on their annual migration to the Mara. Long days out with picnic breakfasts and lunches are the order of the day, some patience is required as you settle to watch the herds swarm the banks searching for a suitable crossing. It s a photographers dream as they explode over the river. TANZANIA Indian Ocean Away from the river equally dramatic scenery hosts a good variety of game with great Leopard and Lion. Top Tip - Combine the Serengeti with the Masai Mara and get some amazing shots of the cats in their element before coming to the Serengeti to see the crossings. Serengeti North - Wildebeest migration

Location - Northern Serengeti close to Kogatende airstrip. 8 traditional Meru tents with en suite bathrooms, flush loos and safari showers. Location location location! Right amongst all the dramatic river crossings and this is what it s all about. Great to combine with 5 nights at Serian or Nkorombo for good cats in the Mara The best location for serious wildlife photographers wanting to capture the drama of the river crossings. 17 Serengeti South Dec to April the focus is more on the vast open plains traversed by great herds of Wildebeest as they seek out the rich grassland that will support the growth of their calves. Mid January to late February sees around 400,000 calves drop in a short period of time. Here we camp right on the edge of the southern plains in amongst the umbrella thorn that marks the plateau overlooking Lake Eyasi. Our focus is a mix of incredible game sightings of huge herds unparalleled in what you may have seen in the Mara and Northern Serengeti, this is the area to appreciate the vastness of the herds and their movements. We do a great deal of walking and the cultural aspect of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area comes to the fore with time spent amongst the Masai, Mangati, and the Hadzabe bushmen. Ngorongoro Crater is only 2 hours away and a great day out. We put in some mileage here but it is the only way to enjoy the incredible million acres of sky! Fly camping under the vast skies is one of this areas true highlights, walking with warriors and learning to track and stalk with our Hadzabe hunters. Serengeti South - Wildebeest migration Top Tip - Spend time at least 5 nights but I would encourage 7 to 10 nights walk with us and fly camp in the rocky kopjes overlooking the Great Rift Valley. Learn bush lore from the trackers and guides who accompany you as we meander through the hills.

18 Serian s Serengeti South Open December to April Location - Southern Serengeti in the remote south west of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area 8 traditional Meru tents with en suite bathrooms, flush loos and safari showers.
