4 ITINERARY DAY 01 USA/EUROPE Depart this evening on an overnight flight to Europe. DAY 02 EUROPE/KILIMANJARO/ARUSHA Connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Arusha is the safari capital of East Africa and is a bustling, vibrant town. This is the kind of place where you can get an idea of what modern Africa is all about. Centrally located to the northern safari circuit, Arusha National Park, Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro makes Arusha a popular stop for travelers. Rivertrees Country Inn is nestled between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, in the gardens along the Usa River. Rivertrees combines old world ambiance and African country elegance. The lodge features Garden Rooms and River Cottages, each room individually styled and uniquely furnished with its own character. Accommodation: Rivertrees Country Inn (D,B) Garden Room DAY 03 ARUSHA/TARANGIRE After breakfast you will depart by private safari vehicle with your guide and proceed by road to Tarangire Park. Stop en route for lunch before continuing to your camp, game viewing along the way. Tarangire is the third largest national park in Tanzania. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing all but the elephants feeding beneath them. During the dry season from June to November, animals concentrate along Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply. The area supports a great diversity of wildlife, including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, oryx and zebra. Lion, leopard and cheetahs are also present in the area. 5 Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on an escarpment overlooking the Tarangire River. The camp has tents and bungalows, a dining room, bar and a large swimming pool. The ten oversized tents provide a classic bush experience with comfortable features such as en suite bathrooms with flush toilet and hot-cold water shower and a private verandah to enjoy quiet solitude. It is set in a private reserve of 44,000 acres and also has easy access to Tarangire National Park. Each of the twenty treetop-tents has thatchedroofs and en suite bathroom facilities and a private deck built around one of the baobab and wild fig trees. Continue to your camp late in the day. Lake Manyara National Park is most famed for its tree-climbing lions that may be seen (if you are very lucky) sleeping amongst the branches of acacia trees. The park is situated in the Great Rift Valley where hippos abound along with the excellent bird life as well as elephant and baboon. Eight tents are spaced to ensure privacy and feature en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, hair dryer, in-room safe, terrace with daybed and spectacular views of surrounding countryside. A family tent is available for those traveling with children. The main lodge is made up of an expanded dining area, outside fire place, bar, library and boutique. 7 OR Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is in the southwest region of Lake Manyara National Park, surrounded by a diverse forest environment. The ten tree-like houses that make up the lodges are cradled in the boughs of Mahogany trees and ensure privacy. Each tree house has an outdoor shower bath and double basin. Activities include game drives; guided nature walks and bird walks escorted by Maasai askaris. Accommodation: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge (Full Board) OR Manyara Ranch Conservancy is a private land conservancy in partnership with the local Maasai communities, Tanzania Land Conservation Trust and African Wildlife Foundation. The ranch is located within the Kwakuchinja Corridor, the migratory route between Tarangire and Lake Manyara national parks. There is a healthy population of wildlife including elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and eland. Predators include cheetah, lion, leopard and even wild dog. Manyara Ranch Conservancy s accommodations include eight deluxe tents with en suite bathrooms, flush toilets, hot-cold water showers, private verandahs. The main lounge area offers indoor-outdoor dining and small bar. Activities include guided game walks, day and night game drives on the ranch as well as to the neighboring parks, visits to partner villages and bush breakfasts. 8 DAY 06 CHEM CHEM or MANYARA RANCH or LAKE MANYARA Based on Chem Chem or Manyara Ranch Enjoy a full day of activities on the game conservancy such as bush walk, visit with the Maasai and sundowners. Based on Lake Manyara Tree Lodge Morning and afternoon game drives in Lake Manyara National Park. Accommodation: Chem Chem Safari Lodge, Manyara Ranch Lake or Manyara Tree Lodge (Full Board) DAY 07 LAKE MANYARA/NGORONGORO Early morning departure for the Ngorongoro Crater. This morning descend into the crater for a game drive. Enjoy a late lunch at your new lodge. The evening is at leisure. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unflooded, intact caldera in the world. Known as the eighth wonder of the world, its vastness and beauty are truly overwhelming. Ngorongoro Crater itself is but a small portion of the 3,200-square-mile Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a World Heritage site that is characterized by a highland plateau with volcanic mountains as well as several craters, extensive savannah and forests. Altitudes range from 4,430 to 11,800 feet. Ngorongoro Crater is about 12 miles wide and its rim rises 1,200-1,600 feet off of its expansive 102-square-mile floor. The steep descent into the crater along winding roads takes minutes from the crater rim. The crater floor is predominantly grasslands (making game easy to spot) with two swamps fed by streams, and the Lerai Forest. The walls of the crater are lightly forested. Ngorongoro contains possibly the largest permanent concentration of wildlife in Africa, with an estimated average of 30,000 large mammals. In addition, this is one of the best reserves in Africa in which to see black rhino. Large concentrations of wildlife make Ngorongoro Crater their permanent home. Game viewing is good year-round. Because there is a permanent source of fresh water, there's no reason for much of the wildlife to migrate as they must do in the Serengeti.

Each of the 73 rooms offers en suite facilities and has a sitting room "porch" overlooking the crater. The lodge s swimming pool provides a fabulous view for you to enjoy in between activities. Accommodation: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge (Full Board) OR Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge is located five minutes from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lodge features 20 luxurious cottage-style suites, each with four-poster bed, a two-way fireplace and a large viewing terrace. Facilities include a pool, boutique, drugstore, library, spa and lounge bar and restaurant. The restaurant sources the majority of meat, fruit and dairy from their own vegetable garden and the local communities in the surrounding area. Game drives, nature walks and excursions to the local coffee farms are available. Accommodations: Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge (Full Board) OR Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp is located with southern views of the Crater and northwest towards the Serengeti Plains and Oldupai Gorge. The camp is a mere 20 minutes from the Seneto Descent road, allowing quick access to game viewing. The seasonal camp features six en suite tents, including one family tent, each with indoor heating, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and views into the crater. 10 DAY 08 NGORONGORO/SERENGETI Continue with your guide and vehicle, en-route your journey to Serengeti includes a visit to Oldupai Gorge, the famous archaeological site where the Leakey s discovered the remains of Australopithecus, Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus. Serengeti is derived from the Maasai language and appropriately means "endless plain." The park's 5,700 square miles makes it larger than the state of Connecticut. Altitude varies from 3,120 to 6,070 feet. As you enter the park gate you will take a game drive through the open plains. Nearly 500 species of birds and 35 species of large plains animals can be found in the Serengeti. The park may contain as many as 1.5 million wildebeest, 500,000 zebra, 300,000 Grant's gazelle, 250,000 Thomson's gazelle, 120,000 impala, 70,000 topi, 20,000 buffalo, 9,000 eland, 8,000 giraffe, 1,000 lion and 800 elephant. The huge herds of plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope dominate the park while the attendant predators such as lion and cheetah are to be found amongst the many kopjes scattered across the plain. Leopard can often be found draped in the trees along the Seronera River. From December-May wildebeest, zebra, eland and Thomson's gazelle usually concentrate on the treeless short-grass plains in the extreme southeastern Serengeti and western Ngorongoro Conservation Area near Lake Ndutu in search of short grass, which they prefer over the longer dry-stemmed variety. This is the best time to visit the Serengeti. In April and May, the height of the rainy season, a 4wd vehicle is highly recommended. The rut for wildebeest is concentrated over a three-week period and generally occurs at the end of April, May or early June. After a gestation period of eight and one-half months, approximately 90% of the pregnant cows will give birth on the short-grass plains within a six-week period between the mid/end of January and February. Zebra calving season is spread out over most of the year, with a slightly higher birth rate December-March. The best time to see wildebeest and zebra crossing in June/early July and November is near the Grumeti River. During July-September, the Serengeti's highest concentration of wildlife is in the extreme north near the Mara River.

11 As a general rule, by June the migration has progressed west of Seronera. The migration then splits into three separate migrations: one west through the corridor toward permanent water and Lake Victoria and then northeast; the second due north, reaching the Maasai Mara of Kenya around mid-july; and the third northward between the other two to a region west of Lobo Lodge, where the group disperses. The first and second groups meet and usually begin returning to the Serengeti National Park in late October; the migration then reaches the central or southern Serengeti by December through March. Arrive at your mobile camp in time to enjoy lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti Shared Explorer Camp makes use of a traditional mobile tented camp on a shared-use basis, periodically moving location within the Serengeti according to Migration game movements and weather conditions. Although the camp will NOT move during your actual stay, the chances of being within reach of the wildebeest migration, which is one of the principle goals of any visit to the Serengeti, are greatly enhanced by this mobility. Approx locations: Dec to Mar the camp is situated in the southern plains. Jun-mid Jul it is located in central Serengeti and Aug-Nov in the northern Lobo region. The camp features ten luxury tents each with en suite bathroom with flush toilet, dual basin and shower, solar powered lighting, and a spacious verandah with chairs to relax and enjoy the view. The focus of the camp is a large dining tent with a shaded 'sitting out' area, bar and small reference library of African books with a variety of games. In the evening gather with other guests around the campfire to enjoy a predinner drink and share the day s adventures. As a guest at the Serengeti Shared Explorer Camp you will meet up and mingle with each other during the evening over pre-dinner drinks and candlelit dinners, but during the day you will set off on your own, with your own private guide and vehicle. By having your own vehicle and guide you can ensure you can do what you want when you want to do it - be that following the wildebeest, sitting by a waterhole or just waiting to get that perfect photograph.

12 A day of game viewing usually consists of morning and afternoon game drives. On your return to the camp after a morning game drive you may have an excellent late breakfast or gourmet picnic lunch when you then may relax on the veranda of your tent. Afternoon tea and a further game drive is followed by iced cold drinks and a delicious dinner. All your meals are excellent and are taken in the dining tent. You may wish to be flexible on your game drives and take a packed breakfast departing at sunrise and return for a late lunch. Or if you prefer, have an early breakfast in camp and take a picnic lunch returning to camp for dinner. It accommodates 50 guests in 25 tents each having its own solar heated shower. The camp emphasizes the feeling of being at one with nature while providing a high degree of comfort, cuisine and service. There is a plunge pool for cooling off. An optional balloon safari is available from camp. Accommodation: Kirawira Camp (Full Board)

13 OR Ubuntu Camp is a seasonal mobile camp that follows the migration of the wildebeest. From May-July 16, the camp is located in the Western Corridor. During August-November 15, the relocates and is ideally situated in the northern Serengeti near the Mara River. As the migration moves south, the camp is located in the game rich Kusini area from December to March. The mobile camp features seven tents with en suite bathrooms, flush toilets and hot-cold water shower. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives. Community visits are available when the camp is located in the northern Serengeti (additional fee applies). Accommodation: Ubuntu Camp (Full Board) OR Buffalo Luxury Camp is located in the Loliondo region of the northern Serengeti with views of the Lobo Valley and western corridor. The permanent tented camp features 15 suites built on two-levels with a sitting room and a raised bedroom area with full electricity, en suite bathrooms including a shower, bath tub, twin vanities, hair dryer and upscale toiletries. All suites have private sitting areas to enjoy the view. The main lodge area includes a dining room, lounge with indoor fireplace and a bar-library. Guests enjoy two outdoor patios, a large fire pit and quiet sitting areas to take in the view. Buffalo Luxury Camp sits on the outside of the national park boundary which enables guests to experience night game drives and guided bush walks. 14 OR Migration Camp is in the north-central part of the Serengeti close to the Grumeti River. The camp consists of 20 luxury tents with their own deck and en suite bathroom. Richly furnished throughout, there is split level lounge, lovely dining area, sun deck and swimming pool amongst the kopje outcrops. The camp s resident hippos can be heard in the distance from your tent. Accommodation: Migration Camp (Full Board) OR Lemala Kuria Hills is a new permanent tented camp in the Northern Serengeti and the ancestral home of the Kuria tribe. Built in a secluded valley with fig and sausage trees and punctuated by large boulders known as kopjes, the area is ideal for witnessing the migration of the wildebeest as well as other big game. The camp features ten luxury tents that highlight the epic views and ensure privacy with a raised deck, plunge pool and indoor-outdoor shower. The lounge has been erected on top of the largest of the kopjes and has private dining areas, lounge with log fires and a stunning bar with the best view of the Serengeti. The main lounge is connected to the swimming pool, spa area, and deck for barbeques and sundowners. The area is only 30 minutes from the Mara River and Lamai triangle yet completely private. Game drives, walks, bush meals, sundowners and cultural opportunities with the Kuria tribe are offered. Accommodation: Lemala Kuria Hills (Full Board) OR Sayari Camp is based in the northern region of the park, a gem of an area that is off the beaten path. The region features loads of resident game and is good to visit year round, peaking during the Migration crossings from July through October. The camp has two separate wings, one with nine tents and the other with six tents each wing has their own dining tent serving top food and drinks and a cozy fire place and lounge/mess tent. The luxury tents feature comfortable beds and en suite bathroom facilities, with a private verandah overlooking the Serengeti landscape.

15 In addition to morning and afternoon game drives, optional walking safaris within the Serengeti are also offered (additional charges apply). A cultural visit to the Wakuria villages gives you insight in the traditional ways of life. You will see the vegetable growing program sponsored by Sayari in conjunction with the local community and the produce is purchased and used in the camp s cuisine. Accommodation: Sayari Camp (Full Board) DAY 13 SERENGETI/ARUSHA/EUROPE This morning you will have another game drive en route to the airstrip. Board your scheduled charter flight to Arusha-Dolly. On arrival you will be transferred to your lodge. *Please Note* there is a luggage limit of 33lbs (15kg) per person on the charter flight so please pre-pack your luggage accordingly in a soft-sided bag. Scheduled Charter flights times are estimates and may include multiple stops. A dayroom has been reserved. This evening, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport. Depart this evening on an overnight flight to Europe. Siringit Villa is an exclusive retreat overlooking a golf course. The luxury 6-bedroom villa accommodates a maximum of 15 guests and is exquisitely furnished with rich fabrics, local artwork and decadent en suite bathrooms. 18 Trip Reports: Dear Jessica, From the moment we got off the plane upon arriving in Africa until we arrived at the airport to leave Africa, we were well taken care of by everyone. it was more awesome than any of us could have imagined. We can't imagine a better fit than Hilary as our guide. he was patient, kind and such a wealth of knowledge, not to mention an absolute joy to spend time with. he does his job so incredibly well. The Tarangire Treetops, wow, we could spend a month or two there. That was our favorite place. Thank you so much for arranging it. Everyone was so hospitable. We found out we are cat people as we counted 60 lions, six leopards and six cheetahs (four of which were only days old). I took about 1200 photos We have been advertising hard for the Africa adventure company since our return home, sharing photos and stories. thank you again for all of your time and assistance since we started planning this trip last fall. Robby Adams Our trip to Tanzania was fantastic! We would all like to thank you for planning this dream vacation. All the materials you sent were perfect, we all felt very informed and packed the perfect amount. Thanks also for being so patient with all our last minute phone calls, everyone was very excited to get this party started Our guides Emmanuel Mkenda and Davis Matafu were exceptional! We felt we had really hit the jackpot with these two. They were an encyclopedia of information, fun to be with, professional, patient with ALL our questions... (do female wildebeest not have beards?) and it was a joy to watch them work together and help the other guides. They went above and beyond to find what we were looking for and even making sure the jeep was parked in the perfect spot for the best photo. Everyday was an adventure and everyday we learned and saw so much more. They were genuinely excited for us to see everything we found They were amazing and we were very sad to see them go as they waved goodbye on the tarmac. Manyara Ranch is a jewel. We enjoyed meeting Alan and felt very special to have Charles Foley and Jon (mammal watching.com) Celebrities! We loved having the Masai warrior join us on our game drives. We got stuck in the mud and that was a hoot watching everyone pitch in! We were in good hands with Mkenda and Davis. We didn t see elephant, lion, cheetah or leopard at the Manyara Ranch which made going to the crater all the more exciting. We also loved the night game drive and the early morning walk with Allen. Our game drives in the Serengeti were phenomenal thanks to Mkenda and Davis. They would say, what would you like to see today and our wish was their command. We saw a cheetah kill, mating lions, lots of lions in trees I could go on on. I m so glad we have 2000 pictures to remember all the wonderful things we saw. The Serengeti Explorer camp was also very nice. Venus worked very hard to accommodate. I also enjoyed eating with Mkenda and Davis. I m sure they would have enjoyed a break from all our questions, but it gave us a little more time to soak up their wisdom and experiences. My group would always cheers to Grace at dinner thanking me for planning this fantastic trip, but I know ALL the praise goes to Africa Adventure Company, Mkenda and Davis. YOU ROCK! Grace O Brien

19 Dear Szilvia and the Africa Adventure Co., We wanted to write you about how much we enjoyed our trip to Tanzania! We both wanted a good trip because our 2 sons and daughter-in-law were with us. The five of us didn t have a good trip we had a fantastic trip! Szilvia, you had everything so organized for us, from the time we landed until we left. The Rangers made arriving so easy and leaving, too. The Arusha Coffee Lodge made that first night very special and it was great for us as a day lodge before our long trip home. We couldn t have had a better guide than Hillary Mandia! He found so many birds and animals and could tell us facts and interesting stories. He was smart, patient, kind, fun, and very attentive. He made sure our trip was great! We felt privileged to have met him! We were very pleased with the three lodges where we stayed. Each was so different and interesting and our food was very good. The managers and staff were courteous and did all they could to keep us comfortable and happy. We enjoyed their programs, too. We very much appreciate AAC s policies supporting African communities, conservations projects, and support of the local guides. After our wonderful experience with Hillary we chose to take advantage of the AAC offer to match our contribution for an educational scholarship for his youngest daughter. Szilvia and Hillary, thank you both for the wonderful memories you have given us and our family. We won t ever forget this very special trip and the people involved in making it that way!
