3 Saturday, November Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport, Tanzania Arusha Coffee Lodge Dinner Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, you will be assisted through customs & immigrations and transferred to your accommodations. Arusha Coffee Lodge is situated on the Burka Coffee estate, a working coffee plantation spanning some 2100 acres. The Lodge has 20 private chalets, each with en-suite facilities, including shower, bath, and separate toilets. The chalets are built on raised wooden platforms, and have log fireplaces, private lounges and large balconies overlooking Mount Meru, and the plantation. With coffee roasters, and a fermentation plant on the estate, guests have the opportunity to observe the roasting process, taste coffee blends, and purchase fresh roasted beans. The chalets are equipped with a mini bar, mosquito net, overhead fan, and room service is available. The Lodge also has a swimming pool, and relaxation spa. Optional activities include plantation tours, horse riding, mountain biking, and nature walks on the estate. Arusha Coffee Lodge excludes drinks and laundry.

4 Sunday, November Arusha to Tarangire Oliver s Camp This morning you are met by your private guide, who will accompany you throughout most of your safari. Your private 4x4 safari vehicle(s) seat up to six. Depart for Tarangire National Park, enjoying a game drive en route to camp once you enter the Park boundaries. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. In the dry season large numbers of animals congregate along the lifeblood of the river. Tarangire is the third biggest national park in Tanzania. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing all but the elephants among the many animals that feed beneath the trees. Located in the remote south of the Tarangire wilderness, Oliver s Camp has one of the most wonderful settings one could imagine. From the camp, a much wider eco-system can be seen: the Ngorongoro highlands, the Great Rift Valley, the Lake Manyara region and of course Tarangire itself. Oliver s is ideal for those who really want to experience nature in its purest form. The camp features ten beautifully furnished guest tents scattered along the marsh edge with excellent views over the permanent water source. Each newly refurbished tent is now covered by traditional thatch and offers an outdoor shower with indoor toilet and wash facilities. The focal point of the camp each evening is the stone fireplace close to the library, sitting, and dining tents. From here the views are superb. There is no better forum for relaxed conversation and animated reflection on the day s activities, and no safari is complete without such an experience. Oliver s Camp s crew has been a team for many years and as a result, a stay in camp feels like joining a family. One that will not only prepare amazing meals for you, but that will also share with you a deeper knowledge of this stunning national park and its inhabitants. Naturalist guides will not only be able to find you the lion prides, but will also be able to tell you about the different family members of the lion prides, their characters and their habits. Walking safaris are the specialty of the camp and especially on walking safaris, the depth of knowledge and experience of the camp naturalist guides makes the experience one to never forget. Every evening, guests relax or read in the lounge and library tent, or drink sundowners at the fireplace after an exciting day in the heart of Tarangire.

5 Monday, November 27 to Tuesday, November 28 Tarangire National Park Oliver s Camp Spend the next two days enjoying Tarangire National Park. Oliver s Camp offers undisturbed open vehicle game drives, adventurous private fly camping and walking safaris that allow for a rare chance to stalk elephant on foot and bird watching. Tarangire boasts large herds of elephants and buffalo roaming around mystic baobab trees, plus a large concentration of big cats and arguably the best bird diversity in East Africa. Tarangire National Park is the best kept secret of the northern. The density of game is second only to the Ngorongoro Crater - you can find many of the large African mammals here, including lion, leopard, buffalo, and lesser and greater kudu. The park is named after the Tarangire River that runs through the center from south to northwest and drains into Lake Burungi. The Tarangire River provides the only permanent water supply in Maasai land. The area supports a great diversity of wildlife, including giraffe, eland, oryx and zebra. Up to 6,000 elephants inhabit Tarangire in the dry season. Tribe visits and walking on the private land next to park are also possible.

6 Wednesday, November Tarangire to Ngorongoro The Highlands Today you depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping en route for a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. After a picnic lunch you continue to your accommodations at the Ngorongoro Crater. The Highlands redefines the Ngorongoro experience. Set high on the slopes of Olmoti volcano, with sweeping views all the way to the Serengeti, you can be at the famous Ngorongoro Crater floor at dawn but you will be far from any other camp. Your base is a warm and stylish high-altitude camp, inspired by traditional Maasai bomas which dot the surrounding landscape, deliberately positioned deep in this highland wilderness for maximum privacy, richness of adventure and range of activities not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro. The camp consists of seven dome shaped suites, each with their own wood burning stove. (The Highlands opens March 2016) This afternoon you will have the opportunity to join one of the Maasai staff members on a visit to a local community in a nearby village. Many staff members are drawn from the surrounding communities and are always eager to share their experiences, providing a richer understanding of the culture that defines this corner of East Africa. Guests will be invited to a Maasai boma to gain an insight into the traditional cattle-herding practices and school visits will also be available depending on the time of year. Thursday, November Ngorongoro Crater The Highlands Early this morning, your driver/guide will meet you for your trip into the Crater along with a picnic lunch. In some opinions, the floor of this extinct volcano offers the finest game viewing in Africa. The rich pastures and permanent water of the crater floor supports a resident population of some 20,000-25,000 large animals. The birdlife is also prolific, with flocks of flamingos on the soda lake, plus other species of water and plains birds. You may also see the Maasai herdsmen, grazing their cattle around the Crater rim or bringing their animals to drink from springs in the Crater. Grazing animals predominate: gnu, zebra, gazelle, buffalo, eland, Coke's hartebeest, and warthogs. The swamps and forest provide additional resources for hippo, rhino, elephant, waterbuck, reedbuck and bushbuck, baboons and vervet monkeys. The steep inner slopes provide a habitat for small dik-dik and the rarely-seen mountain reedbuck, while many other animals pass up and down the slopes as they enter and leave the Crater.

7 Friday, December Ngorongoro to Serengeti Namiri Plains Today you will transfer to the famed Serengeti. Namiri Plains is set in a small fever tree forest overlooking the Serengeti plains. Namiri means big cat in Swahili and the name could not be more apt. This area was closed to the outside world as a cheetah sanctuary for over 20 years and as a result has an exceptional population of big cats, including the highest density of cheetah in East Africa. In addition, the wildebeest migration passes through this area twice annually and the giant herds are accessible from camp for three quarters of the year. To minimize the impact on the environment the camp comprises of only eight tents. Pitched in the shade of giant acacias, this small and exclusive tented haven offers 360 views of wildlife crossing the surrounding plains, the river area with its perennial vegetation and dense green reed beds that attract birds and smaller wildlife species. The migration passes through Namiri Plains from October to May and unleashes spectacular predator sightings during December and January as the resident big cats feast on the passing herds of wildebeest and zebra. Saturday, December 2 to Sunday, December 3 Serengeti Namiri Plains Over the next two days you will explore the area on daily game drives. Enjoy sunrise breakfast picnics on top of Soit le Motonyi rock or sundowners atop a kopje. While exploring, you will feel like you have the Serengeti to yourself, which you do in this secret corner of the plains. Namiri Plains closest neighbor is over 45 minutes away making other vehicles an unusual sighting. Back in camp learn more about the academic research happening in this region from the resident cheetah researcher and the conservation projects Asilia Africa supports. Walking is the most intimate way to experience the bush. The pace is easy, your eye-level is that of the wildlife and your senses are more acutely aware of the sights, smells and sounds, from the small things close at hand to the giants at a distance.

8 Monday, December Serengeti South Olakira Camp Today you depart for the southern Serengeti and Olakira Camp. As the great migration makes its way across the expansive Serengeti plains, so the luxury seasonal Olakira Camp follows. Under canvas and intimate, Olakira Camp captures the essence of classic mobile tented safaris, reminiscent of safaris in the old days. From December to March, the camp is in the southern Serengeti or Ndutu area. Here are the famous Serengeti plains - endless grasslands where lion and cheetah find perfect hunting grounds. The December to March period is the magical time when the Great Migration takes over the Ndutu plains to give birth to the next generation. Olakira Camp is an intimate mobile safari camp made up of eight spacious and comfortable tents. Each tent features a king bed, en suite bathroom, and private veranda with a stunning view over the Serengeti. Time spent at Olakira Camp is channeled into game drives and wildlife viewing. Whether the camp is on the Mara River or the Southern Plains of Ndutu, the aim is to get you as close into the thick of the action as possible. Game drives can be either half day or full day with a picnic bush lunch enjoyed overlooking the Serengeti plains. Back in camp, storytelling, board games, star gazing or relaxing with a book amidst the sounds of the bush are some of the activities which can be enjoyed. When the camp is in the north, a crossing point directly in front of camp allows for spectacular game viewing whilst enjoying breakfast. Private meals in the surrounding bush can also be arranged by camp management.

9 Tuesday, December 5 to Wednesday, December 6 Serengeti South Olakira Camp Enjoy game drives in the Serengeti. Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant s gazelle. The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat. But there is more to Serengeti than large mammals. Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park s isolated granite kopjes. A full 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species, ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills. Thursday, December Serengeti to Arusha Depart Breakfast and Lunch This morning you are transferred to the Ndutu airstrip where you say goodbye to your guides and fly back to Arusha. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to the Kia Lodge where a dayroom is provided. Take time to relax and refresh after your safari experience.
