Here is a quick look on various activities conducted by GGIM from August to December 2016. GGIM conducted first ever Mt. Elbrus Expedition on the eve of Independence Day. Mt. Elbrus is a highest peak in Europe and one of the seven summits in the world.

GGIM conducted winter trek to Everest Base Camp during the month of September. 3 ladies (2 in their 40s and 1 in her late 50s) completed the trek successfully.

Avhaan Nirman Udaan (ANU) is a yearlong outdoor activity of GGIM for school children and last five months witnessed several treks and camps.

10 10 #ScalingHigher November January 2017 GGIM s year of latitudes and altitudes From conquering one of the seven great summits to organizing various adventure treks, rock climbing-rappelling courses and corporate programmes, the second half of 2016 turned spectacular for Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM). Here is a quick look on various activities conducted by GGIM from August to December GGIM conducted first ever Mt. Elbrus Expedition on the eve of Independence Day. Mt. Elbrus is a highest peak in Europe and one of the seven summits in the world. During the same time, another group went to Mt. Stok Kangri in the Ladakh region. Both the groups successfully completed the expeditions. GGIM conducted winter trek to Everest Base Camp during the month of September. 3 ladies (2 in their 40s and 1 in her late 50s) completed the trek successfully. Rajesh Asher, an avid trekker from Mumbai, summitted Mt. Island during the same time. He received specialized training for this expedition from GGIM instructors. Avhaan Nirman Udaan (ANU) is a yearlong outdoor activity of GGIM for school children and last five months witnessed several treks and camps.100 Avhaan participants trekked to Kamalgad and Tikona while 40 kids of Nirmaan group completed river crossing activity at Mahabaleshwar in August. During the same time Udaan's first ever trek took place at Dhaman Ohol. In September Vidya valley school and Pawar Public School were the sports climbing hub for Avhaan-Nirmaan participants. Around 80 kids learnt the skills of sports climbing at these walls. Avhaan - Nirmaan participants learnt about first aid while Udaan group completed their second multiday trek from Bhimashankar to Jambhivali in October They not only did an arduous trek but also managed to travel by state transport bus. During 3rd to 13th November GGIM conducted three adventure courses for school kids which collectively saw participation of around 100 kids. It was overlapped by another adventure camp for MSB school (around 50 kids) and Vidya Valley School (100 kids) at Tamhini and Surya Shibir respectively. On 14th November, 135 kids and 15 of their school teachers from MSB School trekked to Bedse Caves. In the month of December 35 members from group A of Avhaan completed their first overnight trek to Konkan Diwa while 30 members from group B participated in Rajgad trek. 30 Nirmaan participants went for Khandas Bhimashankar trek via ladder route (difficult route with rock climbing and exposure)

#ScalingHigher 11 November 2016 - January 2017 GGIM conducted two basic rock climbing courses at fort Sinhagad in November and December. Both the courses saw participation of 70 in all.

The course was not only conducted in a smooth manner but also received immense appreciation from all the participants.

GGIM conducted 4 corporate outdoor programmes for John Deere group over a period of 4 months from Sept- Dec.

During the month of Dec, GGIM conducted a raft building activity for Transfast group at Kanhe phata resort.

GGIM conducted first of its kind sports climbing championship at Pawar Public School, Hinjewadi. 70 participants from various schools in Pune participated in the competition.

11 #ScalingHigher 11 November January 2017 GGIM conducted two basic rock climbing courses at fort Sinhagad in November and December. Both the courses saw participation of 70 in all. Their energy, enthusiasm was so high that GGIM decided to launch third batch and on the launch day itself, GGIM received 10 registrations. The course was not only conducted in a smooth manner but also received immense appreciation from all the participants. On 2-3 Dec, GGIM conducted an adventure boot camp for students of Pawar Public School.15 participants enrolled for the camp and successfully completed the same. GGIM conducted 4 corporate outdoor programmes for John Deere group over a period of 4 months from Sept- Dec. These programmes involved some adventures, team building sessions as well as fun oriented activities that offered them a break from their usual office lifestyle. During the month of Dec, GGIM conducted a raft building activity for Transfast group at Kanhe phata resort. Team GGIM conducted a rappelling camp for Jnana Prabodhini Students in the month of December. Total 85 students performed rappelling activity. GGIM conducted first of its kind sports climbing championship at Pawar Public School, Hinjewadi. 70 participants from various schools in Pune participated in the competition. In the end Vidya Valley School won the overall championship. On promotional grounds, GGIM set up a stall at Global Sports Business Show organized by Times Group in Mumbai. During that three day event helped GGIM reach out to various sports related groups and personalities. Besides providing a platform for demonstrating the sport prowess and skill, the objective was also to emphasize the significance and value of sports to go hand in hand with education.

12 12 #Schoolympics2016 November January 2017 Pune witnesses the grandest kids sports extravaganza Guardian Corporation takes pride in getting associated with Schoolympics 2016 Schoolympics, one of the biggest inter school sports competition for school children in Pune registered participation of total 300 city schools and over 22 thousand students. The month long event, which concluded on 8th December 2016, witnessed as many as 21 different indoor and outdoor sports and 402 competitions. Schoolympics was organized by Sakal Media Group in association with Guardian Corporation. Besides providing a platform for demonstrating the sport prowess and skill, the objective was also to emphasize the significance and value of sports to go hand in hand with education.
