5 About What we do The Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre is a large establishment in a rural location. The accommodation comprises of varying room sizes and caters for Groups, Schools, Families and Individuals. The Activity Centre has a good selection of outdoor activities Islandwide, which can be organised prior to arrival to complete a total package or arranged on arrival. In addition, visits to attractions of local interest, inter-island trips and on-island transport can also be booked by the JAAC Team. Where we are The Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre is located on the East Coast, above the Port of Gorey and Mont Orgeuil Castle. It is surrounded by its own grassed land and fields with just a 5 minute walk down the hill to the port. 6 Accomodation & Catering Rooms There is a good selection of rooms, with a total capacity of 100 people. Rooms can be arranged to best suit groups. With a selection of 4, 6, 8 & 10 bunk bedrooms the Centre is able to accommodate a group together, with the teachers/leaders in separate en-suite rooms adjacent. In addition there are a number of en-suite twin, double and family rooms available. All bed linen and a towel for use in the shower are included in the price. 7 Catering The basic accommodation charge is for bed and breakfast. English Breakfasts, 2 course Dinners, Packed Lunches (Picnics) and BBQ s, weather permitting, can also be arranged at additional cost, on booking or on arrival at JAAC. The catering is undertaken by a well-known local caterer/restaurateur Danny s At Home. For special events they can produce any menu from simple to extravagant food e.g. childrens birthday parties to weddings. Affordable Not only is the Centre situated in a great location with varied rooms and friendly staff, it is also affordable. Starting from just 25 a night bed and breakfast it is hard to find a better deal with the same level of service as that given by the staff at JAAC. The on-site Activities Provider is able to offer special deals for guests, making outdoors activities even more appealing. 57

10 10 Learning Outside The Classroom

11 Safety The outdoor pursuits provision is accredited with the UK Adventure Mark and Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC). The Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre is registered with the States of Jersey Tourism Department as a Youth Hostel and meets with all the appropriate certifications. The building has a resident caretaker ensuring that there is a staff member available throughout the night. During the day-time the Reception is open between 8 am- 1 pm and 2 pm 8 pm. All external doors are locked at 8 pm, however access by the main door is available with a door code number, which is provided on check-in. The adventure provider, Jersey Adventures, was established in 1993 and has been at the forefront of outdoor adventure in Jersey ever since. It is regulated by UK inspectors commissioned by Adventure Activity Associates and meets the standards set by Adventure Mark and LoTC. All instructors are trained and qualified in the activities that are offered, either in house or through NGBs to ensure standards are high. Jersey Adventures prides itself on a safe, yet educational and fun delivery of activities and have a 100% safety record. Where the Centre does not undertake certain activities e.g. Water Sports, the team will make a reservation with a local qualified and experienced Provider. Equipment Each year investment is made to ensure the equipment is up to date, venturing into new and different adventure pursuits means the business is always expanding and can always offer new and exciting activities and opportunities. 11

This is demonstrated in the company s famous Escapes events. 12

13 Education & Leisure During a visit to Jersey, entrance fees or tickets for various local attractions can be organized by the JAAC team to: Durrell Wildlife Park Jersey Museum Jersey Maritime Museum Mont Orgeuil Castle Elizabeth Castle The Jersey War Tunnels Local Dairy Farm Events run from the JAAC include: Treasure Hunts, Orienteering Courses, Obstacle Courses, Small Zip Wire, Small Climbing Wall, Local area Walks, Bush Craft, On-site games and also the Escape from Mont Orgeuil Castle.
