2 ACEC/MD 27 ANNUAL CONFERENCE a^^a6, ao(5 This year's program will once again provide the right mix of educational opportunities, networking with colleagues and friends in the profession, and time to relax and enjoy the quiet ambience of our destination resort. Following Wednesday afternoon's ACEC/MD Executive Committee Meeting, conference attendees will enjoy a Welcome Reception, and the opportunity to experience dinner at one of the Kingmill Resort's or Williamsburg's fine dining establishments. Advance reservations are always recommended. After Thursday morning's breakfast, conference attendees can take advantage of all the resort has to offer, from the on-site amenities to using the courtesy shuttles to visit the many local attractions. Also, at this time, golfers may choose to participate in an optional golf tournament on the Plantation Course. Designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer, this course is carved out of the beautiful Virginia landscape of what used to be Richard Kingsmill's 1736 plantation. Thursday evening is sure to be one to be remembered, as conference attendees will board a bus to King's Arms Tavern, where we will dine on colonial fare by candlelight while being entertained by strolling balladeers and colonial characters. After dinner, we will be met by lantern bearing guides for a wonderful and very personalized Ghost and Folk Lore Tour through the historic streets of Williamsburg. Following Friday morning's breakfast, our program will feature a presentation on the business opportunities with the Hampton Roads Sanitary District, and mega projects in VDOT's Hampton Roads District. At the General Membership Meeting Luncheon, we will be joined by ACEC Vice Chairman Harvey Floyd (KCI Technologies) who will bring you up to date on national initiatives impacting your firm. In the afternoon, ACEC/MD's Leadership Class will hear from a panel of contemporary leaders of ACEC/MD's member firms, who will share their experience in rising to the top of their respective organizations. The rest of the attendees will have the opportunity to take in all the beauty and ambience that the resort has to offer, and experience the historical charm of the Williamsburg area. The culminating event of this year's conference will be an informal gala banquet featuring recognition of both ACEC/MD's outgoing Executive Committee and the graduates of this year's Leadership Program, and the induction of officers for the upcoming fiscal year. Dress throughout the conference is resort casual attire. DIRECTIONS: Take Interstate 95 South to Interstate 295 South (around Richmond). Then take 295 South to Interstate 64 East towards Williamsburg/Norfolk to Exit 242-A onto 199 West. Follow 199 to the first traffic light, take a left at the light into Kingsmill. After a short shuttle ride, we will enjoy a short walk through the Colonial Capitol to the historic area surrounding King's Arms Tavern. Upon arrival at King's Arms, we will dine on colonial fare by candlelight, while being entertained by strolling balladeers and colonial characters. As with all foreign and national dignitaries, you will enjoy a private dining experience. After dinner and lively entertainment, we will be met by lantern bearing guides for a wonderful and very personalized Ghost and Fork Lore Tour through the historic streets of Williamsburg. You will learn where sayings such as" Putting your best foot forward," "Getting up on the right side of the bed," and "Tying one on," came from, and how they have evolved throughout history. You also might even see a GHOST! Golfers can compete for the John E. Greiner trophy on the The Plantation Course. This Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay design is a timeless resort classic that will challenge players of all skill levels. Integrating historic landmarks from Richard Kingsmill's 1736 plantation, this course features a combination of generous landing areas, large greens and eight water holes bordered by deep woods and ravines. SESSIONS: Our sessions will include: > Ted Henifin, P.E., General Manager of the Hampton Roads Sanitary District, who will discuss business opportunities with this important agency. > James W. Long, III, P.E., DBIA, Project Delivery Director for VDOTs Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC), who will address mega projects in Hampton Roads.

Please use the Conference Registration Form to sign up for the conference activities (photocopying permitted). Reminders have been previously circulated to member firms regarding room reservations that must be made by June 1, In order to be guaranteed the discounted rate, please specify that you are attending the American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland Conference. After this date rooms may not be available at the discounted rate. Discounted rooms are available until the cutoff date or until rooms In the ACEC/MD room block are gone, whichever occurs first.
