We inducted 4 new members, Stan and Jane Mack, returning, and new members Matt and Megan House. That brings our total membership up to 152!! Club opens at 1800 Pot Luck at 1845 Meeting at 1900 Board Meetings: Tuesday before General Meeting at 1800 Our Memorial Day Cruise was a good time for all who attended. The weather was a little rainy, but spirits were high. John Reynolds, our Cruise Captain, did a nice job with the organization. We only wished that the Mariners would have scored 2 more runs!!

2 Commodore's Report (Continued) Dates to remember, Hi-way Cleanup Day is June 11th. Our next General Meeting will be June 16th and a Cruise to Gig Harbor the weekend of June 24th. July will be a busy month. Plan to get involved! CLUB CLEANED!! A big thanks to all who helped clean the Club yesterday. It was a big success. The kitchen was reorganized and cleaned. The railing was sanded and filled. The bar was cleaned. The desk was organized. The windows washed. The trim out-side was painted. Lights cleaned. The attic was ordered. All in all, the place looks great. Special thanks go out to: Tom Pickins, Ric and Cheryl Graham, Dave Wetter, Nancy Langwith, Robin Lott, Steve and Kim Page, Jay Knode, Butch and Sallie Brown, Susan and Tom Thatcher, Lonnie and Sharon Nuss and Gloria Young. ** **Hey stupiod, don t forget Nancy. Vice Commodore's Report Greetings everyone, And we re off to a great start to the boating season and summer. The weather has been phenomenal and I, for one, have been enjoying the warm, sunny days.

3 Vice Commodore's Report Greetings everyone, And we re off to a great start to the boating season and summer. The weather has been phenomenal and I, for one, have been enjoying the warm, sunny days. There s not a lot to report regarding the club house except that we are looking at possible repairs and general maintenance needed around the deck area. I do want to start thinking about planning and budgeting for upgrades to make our clubhouse a more attractive place for members and hopefully generate more rental income for the club. On June 11 th we are doing our annual highway clean up. If you re available please come join us at the club house before we head out to clean up our area. We will meet at 9:00 am. Bring a good set of gloves and wear your work clothes. And remember, we will typically have the grill fired up on Friday nights so bring something to grill and enjoy dinner out on the deck. Southern Wine and Spirits just delivered these lovelies in response to requests from members passed on to me by Lindsey: A Merlot from Washington Hills which is supposed to be both complex and smooth. A Cabernet and a Red Blend from Columbia Winery. It s a well-respected winery, and we can get some good deals on cases from them, so I hope you like it. Then there s the Chateau St. Michelle Chardonnay we ve kept hidden until summer brought out the Chard fans! We got a special deal on a case of the Indian Hills version which is higher end that the regular CSM. I might even take a break from reds to try it myself! Be sure to let me know what you think about these new wines.

Rear Commodore s Report (Continued) You ve noticed by now that the BBQ Season has started, so the grill will be hot most Friday evenings as long as we have a host.

4 Rear Commodore s Report (Continued) You ve noticed by now that the BBQ Season has started, so the grill will be hot most Friday evenings as long as we have a host. (Let Nancy Langwith know at langwithn52@gmail.com if you are willing to show off your grilling expertise and host a Friday night) Members bring a salad or dessert to share and for $5 you can have a perfect summer dinner on the deck. Remember that on Friday, June 10, during our usual 6 PM to 9 PM gathering, Pete DeBoer will be hosting a Fourth of July Fundraiser Auction and Cocktail Party. Bring something to auction or to add to a basket for auction, and join your friends as they support Kingston s Fourth of July. Guests are welcome; just sign them in at the door. In closing I d like to pay my sincere respects to our hard-working, beloved Commodore Steve by sharing this photo of him with the Commodore of Brownsville Yacht Club at our joint cruise to Bell Harbor. 5 FLEET CAPTAINS REPORT Signal from the Fleet Opening Day Opening Day was a great success, in spite of marginal weather. We met down on the guest dock, with almost the entire fleet on hand by noon. We honored two KCYC members who crossed over the bar in the past 12 months with a reading of Alfred Lord Tennyson's classic poem, Crossing the Bar, read by Tom Pickens. Tom then read a very nice blessing of the fleet. At 1400 hours, the fleet departed, one by one, from the marina. Out in Kingston Cove we were greeted by Marine 81, the new fire boat for North Kitsap. What an impressive piece of equipment! The fleet then proceeded, more or less in formation, to Port Madison. We took a turn around Port Madison and then cruised back to Kingston, where we saluted our Commodore one by one. Once everyone was tied up, we had a toast to the fleet by Commodore Steve Young, accompanied by a bit of bubbly. And then on up to the KCYC clubhouse for a fabulous Mexican Fiesta presented by Rick and Cheryl Graham and their compadres. I have to say it was a great opening day, and I was proud of our fleet. Memorial Day Cruise There really isn't a better way to spend a weekend in downtown Seattle than being moored in the Bell Harbor Marina. 14 KCYC boats made the voyage, and we were joined by 13 Brownsville Yacht Club vessels. On hand were: Ceilidh, Blue Moon, Kingfisher, Dorothy Lee, Forever Young, Le Suivant, Lulu, Budliner, Sound Docktrine, Side Kick, Seaduction, Aurora, Shine, and Sea Otter. In spite of the rain on Saturday we had a great cruise. We ate well, including a really good meal at Anthony's Pier 66. Had some good happy hours. Explored the Pike Place Market (along with the hordes from the cruise ships), saw a Mariners game, and enjoyed a couple of good happy hours. The cruise home on Monday was spectacular under blue skies with light winds from the Northwest. The Brownsville folks are a lot of fun. We need to meet up with them more often! Coming Up OK boaters. Coming up the last weekend in June is the cruise to Gig Harbor and Tacoma. If you haven't signed up with the marinas, please get that done before the 10th. Arabella's Landing is a beautiful marina with flowers everywhere, a nice clubhouse that I have reserved for Saturday, the Net Shed restaurant and a ship's store on the grounds. Lots of cute shops within walking distance, or dinghy over to the Tides Tavern for great fish and chips or burgers, or take your tender to Anthony's at the head of the bay. In Tacoma we will be at Dock Street which is a great municipal marina, immediately below the Museum of Glass and the Chihuly Bridge. The Washington State History Museum is just across that bridge, and the LeMay Classic Car Museum is a short walk away. We'll look forward to catching your lines. That is all. 6 Sunshine and Clouds June 2016 Ahoy Mateys! Well..the weather has been gorgeous and thankfully, not much to report that is cloudy. As most of you already know, Deni Lee has ALS.a cruel debilitating disease. Bobby and Deni could use some financial help. There is a Go Fund Me account set up that will send money directly to Bobby Lee. You can donate there or just send them a check. Also, dinners are needed. Deni is unable to do much..especially cook. So give them a call and ask if you could bring something by. It s always best to call first in case they aren t at home or she isn t feeling well. They don t have lots of refrigerated or freezer storage so it s good to check first. Todd and Jovita lost their the Queen of Seaduction. Ruby passed a few days ago. She will be missed by everyone. She was a diehard boat dog. Always wagging her tail and loving everyone! Be sure to reach me if you need a card sent on behalf of the club or if someone needs help...we can get it for them.
