1 Great Cypress Village board meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Secretary Beyer called the role of board members. Present were: Zebbie Probst, Daniel Hamilton, Barb LaFountain, Nancy Colacicco, Adriana Pruyn and Beverly True. Absent was Catherine Beyer who was ill. President Zebbie Probst read the December 11, 2017 minutes. Director Nancy Colacicco made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Vice President Dan Hamilton seconded this motion. All members approved. Motion carried. Treasurer Barb LaFountain read the financial report. The operating account balance was $11, and the reserve account balance was $123, Director Beverly True made a motion to accept the financial report as read. Director Colacicco seconded this motion. All members approved. Motion carried. Committee Reports: Architectural Jack Fair stated that Pasco County has stopped enforcing some regulations for which you need a permit before doing the work. It is suggested that you always check with the county before doing work on your property. Also fill out a GVC architectural request for approval by board. President Probst has received request forms for various work like painting and building screen rooms on existing carports. Social Club Tom Thompson announced upcoming events a breakfast on Saturday and upcoming February 10th Valentines dinner dance, Feb 17 th Rummage sale and Bake Sale and February 28 th Chinese Basket raffle with spaghetti dinner. Sign up now for these events. Tom thanked all who helped with clean up after events. RV - Jack Fair wanted to know if the tree people got their chipper fixed so we could get chips for sandy areas of RV area. Zebbie Probst will check with them. Jack also stated that the pole locking the gates together sometimes gets filled up with dirt and therefore does not shut properly. He left a spoon near the fence to clean out the hole before locking gate. WELCOME New members Andrea Pope, Wink Van Knowe, Kelly Crowley and Maureen Donoghue are completing forms to be given to new residents soon. 1

2 DOCUMENTS New volunteers are Jack Fair, Larry Frazier, Dan Hamilton, Nancy Colacicco and Zebbie Probst. Beverly True questioned Zebbie Probst right to be on a committee Zebbie read from Article 7 Section 2 of our Bylaws stating that Board members can only hold one Board member position at a time. It says nothing about not being on a committee. Issue may be worth the documents committee to address in the bylaws. ELECTION Lorrie Capasso stated all nomination papers must be filled out, signed and presented to election committee by January 31, Also they need a copy of the proposed budget soon. TRUSTEES Isabel Miller said she called Mary Nowak and did not get an answer. She must be away so putting the proposed budget together will have to wait till she returns. REAL ESTATE REP Dan Hamilton stated that GVC is a hot market for selling our homes. Most homes that were for sale are sold. Only a few remain. Remax Realty has been notified to put DEED RESTRICTED on all their For Sale sign. OLD BUSINESS 1. Updates Directory Lorrie Capasso says she and Catherine Beyer updated all the 2018 Directories and most of them have been handed out. During the election she asked that you all check over your directory information and give us any changes that may exist. Nadine also said she has compared her larger print version of the directory against ours and made changes. 2. Clubhouse painting update The colors will be light green on all dining room walls and the darker shade will be on fireplace wall. The painting will start on January 17, 18, 19, 20. Please bring brushes and rollers if you can. Glory Schrader turned in a bill for $19.34 for hand painting the mural wall. Thank her for all her hard work. 3. Postage 1 st class stamps are going to $.50 as of January Barb LaFountain purchased 200 Forever stamps for office use. 4. Lorrie Capasso has stated that there are cigarette butts on our roads. Could whoever is crushing them out with their shoes please pick up the butts and dispose of them at their own homes. Follow our motto: Act Like You Live Here by keeping the park beautiful as your homes. 2

3 5. It was asked that wooden chair rails be put up in pool table room so as not to scratch walls. A wooden bump rail should be put on the floor in front of the mural so the legs stop the chairs from scratching the newly painted mural. 6. Possible need for second storage shed It was determined that if we clean out the existing shed we may be able to fit more Social Club decorations in there giving more room in clubhouse for the serving trays and holders in the closets now holding decorations. It was also suggested we could sell some of the unused items in the existing shed on Feb 17, Discussion was held regarding lengthening the visitation time for children in our 55 and over retirement park. Presently it states children may visit a maximum of 14 days a year. The board would like to increase that to 28 days per year. No one objected. 8. Discussion of changing Fiscal year and Calendar year to same dates. It was determined that having the combined dates from January to December would not give enough time for nominations and paper work in October/November as snow birds would not be here to be a part of the election process. Therefore the Fiscal year will remain April 1 st to March 31 st and the calendar year January 1 st to December 31 st. 9. Dues of $57.00 per month took effect on January 1, A $10 late fee will be assessed when made after the tenth of each month. 10. BBQ pit out back of kitchen area in clubhouse was discussed and determined to have some issues of space, safety and purpose that still need to be ironed out before a decision can be finalized. Beverly True made a motion to get estimates on building costs and insurance needs for such a BBQ pit to be built. Larry Frazier seconded the motion and offered to help Zebbie with getting the estimates. NEW BUSINESS 1. Dan Hamilton told everyone Kim Capasso when working on kitchen stove had found that the men s bathroom door lock was damaged as if someone was trying to get into the clubhouse without a key. It was also found that the outside lights on building in that area are not working allowing access without detection. It was suggested that motion lights replace existing fixtures or keep those existing lights on at all times. It was mentioned that in November Janet Tompkin had her car broken into. Please report any suspicious activity to the Police 3

4 and the GCV Board. A motion was made by Beverly True to purchase motion lights with a cost within reason. Dan Hamilton seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. Zebbie Probst said to thank Kim Capasso, Al Mears, Jack Fair, Zebbie Probst and all who helped hook up the new 50 gallon hot Water heater. The electrical work for the water heater addition was done by Quest Electric. It certainly helps the dishes get cleaner in our dishwasher to have the really hot water. Zebbie Probst says the four garbage cans have not been purchased yet but are on the list of things to do. Thank you to Dan Hamilton for getting the locksmith to change the lock on men s room door. Zebbie Probst and Jack Fair have been monitoring the comings and goings of the four wheelers on Houston Avenue. Zebbie will video what he can and take to Pasco County Board Meeting to try to get us noticed and receive help stopping this nuisance. Jack Fair said Tammy Music had been helping Marilyn Minick take care of Jim Haley. She was a God send for Marilyn. Jack was there when Jim died and Tammy as well, she took it very hard. Please thank her for doing this for Jim. Nancy Colacicco says she has three orders for GCV license plates and could get more available if anyone else would like to purchase one for $8. Barb LaFountain made a motion to have one dozen purchased to keep some on hand should anyone else like one. Dan Hamilton seconded this motion. The motion carried. At the time of the election Zebbie Probst will be handing out the permission bracelets for using the pool/spa area and fishing in our lake. Dan Hamilton and Beverly True made and seconded a motion to adjourn the GCV board meeting. All approved and the meeting adjourned at 8:35pm. 4
