3 Page 3 Member News And Events The Marina and Boatyard Study Tour takes participants to various marinas and boatyards to learn about each facility and at the end of each day the group sits down and discuss strengths and weaknesses of the facilities visited. The Study Tour exposes the participants to different ideas, marina products that they can see, learn about and bring back to their marinas. We have a new address on Marco. After our old Marco office was completely destroyed by Hurricane Irma, we had to temporarily move to our Naples location, while building out a new space at 919 N. Collier Blvd. Marco Island. We are now back to full operations in the Marco office, fortunately all our equipment survived the storm and we are working very hard to keep up with the high customer volume. Brad Skelton from New Zealand brings over a decade of experience from the yachting industry. PURE FLORIDA Will be open Christmas Eve for all services but closed on Christmas Day Kids Cruise Free Every Sat with paid adult The MV Double Sunshine will be entered in The Naples Christmas Boat Parade Candy Cane Cruises in Dec 16-26th Merry Cruise-mas Facebook Photo Contest Dec 31st Fire Works Cruise 3 hours of food and fun PURE FLORIDA PRESENTS 20% OFF ALL PURE FLORIDA GIFT CERTIFICATES The Gift That Keeps on Giving Marco Yacht Sales new office is now open. The original scheduled opening was a week before IRMA... uplifted and battered by a wall of mud, boats and trees. "Our first year running a business in SW Florida with a direct hit from a hurricane, we were ready for the immediate mess and visually got everything back in check within 3 weeks, however the recoup time for buyers/sellers in the market was unexpected. Over the past few weeks its been slowly picking up. I cant say next time we will be 100% ready as no one knows the final outcome, but our position will be different" Chris Stahl After a 2nd complete remodel, the office is now operational and ready to move some units. New Broker Sales Associate /Service Manager on board at Marco Yacht Sales Naples City Dock The City of Naples has appointed Don Spearman the new Assistant Dock Master for Naples City Dock which is scheduled to open early Donnie has been working at the City Dock for approximately 8 years and has well-earned the promotion. He will oversee the day to day operations including fuel and bait sales, transient vessel registration, rental agreements, and slip assignments. Those of you who have already worked with him will agree that he is conscientious, helpful, knowledgeable and caring. He will be a great asset to not only the City Dock, but the local community as well. At a time when government regulations are expanding, the is striving to work with government - locally, statewide and nationally to protect equally all marine business concerns. Our goal is to inform our members how their business will be affected and how solutions can be reached if new regulations are at odds with marine business interests. In addition, it is equally important to work with the public in preserving their right to safe and fun boating. The works with educators and safety organizations to educate the public to practice safe boating. The also encourages members to put in place hands-on environmental business practices that will prevent pollution and damage to our coastal waters thus protecting boaters enjoyment of healthy waterways and ensuring a sustainable future for the environment and the marine industry. Marine Industries Promoting Access for Citizens In 2002 the Marine Industries Association of Collier County formed a Political Action Committee named Marine Industries Promoting Access for Citizens (MIPAC). This action was taken so that we can support issues and legislative candidates who assist the goals and purposes of the marine industries community. Upcoming Events On a quarterly basis, the MIPAC seeks donations of $50.00 from each member. The MIPAC s missions and goals are to act upon problematic issues that must be addressed at the legislative level for the growth and protection of the marine industry. Monies collected from the MIPAC donations are used in supporting political decision makers that will tackle the very issues that affect all members of our industry. As a good steward of our member s donations, MIPAC adheres to uniform contribution criteria when determining how much and to which candidate assistance is allocated. MIPAC will educate you about the political landscape and issues facing our organization and will strategize political impact. In addition, the committee is always open to suggestions, questions and comments.
