2 President's Message June 2017 Page 2 Secretary s Report Hello Everyone Well May has come and gone June gets us going into summer and more events. We have a breakfast meeting at the Carmichael Elk's Lodge on the 11th. That one starts at 10 A M as the Elk's stop serving at noon. Then on the 18th it's on to Placerville for the Studebaker Wheelbarrow Race. This is a good time at a old time feeling fair. June has so many events you could go to one every day if you wished. Our last meet was in the small town of Capay a small town north west of Woodland. We gathered at an out door grill with very pleasant weather. The only difficult part was trying to have discussion's while some of you were having a nice time visiting. Please it's hard to talk louder and louder just to get our business out of the way. Editor s Corner By Tim Bates Hi to All my Wonderful Studebaker Family Members, Been a wild ride this past month with my Mom, older sister and Niece all having ER visits. Think I am about done with visiting hospitals for a while.. Looking forward to having some Studebaker therapy time. My car runs the best ever thanks to Mr. John Martin and his fantastic team. Heard they even have a female mechanic... Wish you good folks all the best. Tim Karel Staple Studebaker Drivers Club Secretary Report for May 2017 will be provided by your very own newsletter editor as Miss Linda could not attend the meeting in Capay. We had 23 members present and 7 lovely Studebakers for everyone to admire. The meeting was called to order at 12:02. The International Meet was a very good Meet very well organized. I know I have to get back there one year. I think we talked about contributing $70 to the Zone Meet Trophy Fund. We discussed the Zone Meet in Clovis next Oct and that it conflicts with the International Auto Show. Looks like we decided to pass on the International Auto Show to support our Zone Meet. Mr. President says to be at the next meeting on Sunday 11June at 10am sharp to get fed. Pat Dilling wants us all (you included) to meet at the In and Out Burger Restaurant in Placerville at 10 am ( I see a trend here) for the Wheel Barrow Races on the 18th. There was some discussion an the portrait vs. landscaping style for Turning Wheels. (If you have any idea what this means you know a heck of a lot more than me.). Anyway, we voted to keep it the same. Our very own Mr. Lynn Brewer won the 50/50. Sorry, I did not record the amount. I think we really need to get Miss Linda back. The car show raffle was won by the very lucky Darrel Brunelli.. The meeting was adjourned at 12:34 and a few of us drove to the Olive Oil Tour right up the hiway. Tim Bates for Miss Linda Barnard

4 June 2017 Page 4 Placerville Wheel Barrow Races June 18 th, 2017 The Studebaker Wheelbarrow Races are coming up Sunday June 18, Father's Day, at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. As those who have attended in past will testify, this is a fun event within a small town county fair. We also have access to the County Museum where Studebaker items and much more are on display. And it is FREE for us in exchange for bringing our cars. We are welcome to bring EZ-up shades, chairs and "discreet" coolers with drinks and food. Plus all the great fair food is there, along with live music, beer and wine. The actual Wheelbarrow Races are viewed from a shaded grand stand and begin around 5 pm and last about 1.5 hours for all the classes. You do not need to stay until the end, but are asked to stay until 4 pm. Entering the Fairgrounds; We will meet in the In & Out Burger parking lot at the Forni Road exit from Highway 50 in Placerville. Meeting time is NLT than 10:15 and we will roll into the fairgrounds together at 10:30 before the Fair opens at 11. Please do not be late. Attending and bringing a car or truck so far are: Pat Dilling (Bringing EZ Up and table) Frank & Johanna Smith Steve Rainville Mel France Tim Bates Ed & Laurie Sumner Perry & Betty Knopf (maybe) We have room for as many as want to bring cars and you can bring 2-4 people or kids with you. We could use a couple more shades. If you wish to join the fun please let me know ASAP but NLT than June 12th. The Fair needs to know how much room to set aside for us.

5 June 2017 Page 5 Vetts for Vets Car Show Rick & Johna Pierce & Pat Dilling joined the California Automobile Museum on Memorial Day to celebrate all things muscle car and honor our country s brave veterans and active duty military! There was food, raffle, music and an awards ceremony. All cars was welcome, but they really love all years and varieties of Corvettes as well as American made muscle cars! We all brought a car, Rick drove the 1964 GT Hawk, Johna drove the 1969 Olds 442, & Pat drove Chevrolet Biscayne. The people were nice, lots of stories & the weather was great! Remembered our Vets, Thank you for your Service.
