July was a very exciting month to be a Triumph owner. It all started out with the Kastner Cup in Pittsburgh. Then the next weekend a group of us left for the VTR National Meet in La Crosse, Wisconsin. What a great trip we had! La Crosse is a nice little town right on the Mississippi, a great place for the Meet to be held. Our tour guide, Eric Langreder, led us on some lovely roads to and from La Crosse. On the way over, a big thrill was being able to drive our cars into the S.S. Badger that ferried us across Lake Michigan. We were gone for eight days, and according to my speedometer we traveled 1656 miles. Our group consisted of Eric and Cathy Langreder, Doug and Renee Karns, Terry and Coleen Loughrey, Ron Chernicky, myself, and Bev. Darrell and Beverly Floyd were also at La Crosse. The month ended with the first combined Cleveland British Car Day. It turned out to be a huge success, and the turnout was unbelievable. We had over 280 cars. NCTA was well represented at the show. THANKS EVERYONE! On September 5, 2018 NCTA will be the featured marque at the Gervasi Vineyard Cruise-In in North Canton, OH from 5 pm to 8pm. Please join us for a great evening of cars and dining. Starting in September we will try having our meetings on Thursday nights. It is getting difficult to find places to meet on Friday nights. Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Ben s Restaurant and Bar, West Akron-Canfield Rd. Berlin Center, Ohio. Hope to see you there! The address for the museum is E. Blvd, Cleveland, Ohio This August meeting was held at our picnic at the Floyd s home with 30 members in attendance Doug gave our financial report and stated that we took $550 in June and paid out nothing. Our ending balance is $6,059. Renee read last month s minutes and were approved as read John Albright reported that in June we received four new members and as of the meeting, we have 44 paid members. He along with John Nelsen are working on our roster to get it updated for our members and also the website. A report on Website vs Facebook is still scheduled for the October meeting. John Nelsen stated that he is looking into the possibility of a Google site program that uses no codes for our paid members and using Facebook for our public domain so it will be easier to navigate for whoever takes over for him (if anyone) Roger reported that the combined car show with 273 cars was a huge success. NCTA had a great showing and he thanked the many volunteers. There will be a wrap up meeting to address some minor bugs and to improve next year s show (ex. space, food, and awards). Bob and Mary Kasper had a sign-up sheet for their annual wine tour Oct 6th. Contact them if interested. Roger mentioned some upcoming events. o TRF Summer Party is August 16-19th in Indiana Pennsylvania with six NCTA-ers going o August 26th will be a celebration of life for former member Ron Boals being held at the Crawford Auto Museum from 2-4pm o Sept 1st at the Portage County Airport there will be a Fly-In and Drive-In held during the day o Sept 5th, Triumph will be the featured Marque at the Gervasi Winery cruise in from 5-8pm in Canton o October 13th is a Cars & Coffee event at Hale Farm & Village hosted by the Western Reserve. You can register on the Western Reserve website. o Plenty of things to do! Our next meeting will be Thursday night Sept 6th at Ben s Restaurant & Bar in Berlin Our October meeting will be held at DeCelios Restaurant in Aurora (formerly Doogans) on Thursday the 4th Meeting adjourned to start the auction! VTR in La Crosse, Wisconsin La Crosse, Wisconsin is a lovely city.

Our trip to La Crosse began early in the morning on July 15 when we met Doug and Renee Karns, Terry and Coleen Loughrey, Roger and Bev Mauter, and Ron

We drove a lot that day, crossing into Indiana and heading up into Ludington, Michigan to catch the Badger, the only active-service coal-powered ship on

The ferry ride was about four hours, but it was nice to have that time out of the Triumphs and not have to drive through Chicago.

There are some exciting and fun roads to drive in Wisconsin! Eric had planned out the route to and from VTR and did an excellent job.

The hotel was located on the Mississippi River with a walkway and many benches making it easy to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

There were many unique restaurants and quaint shops within walking distance, which made it easy to find fun things to do during the down time.

5 VTR in La Crosse, Wisconsin La Crosse, Wisconsin is a lovely city. Having only been to Milwaukee for a few days 30 years ago, we had no idea what to expect in Wisconsin. Our trip to La Crosse began early in the morning on July 15 when we met Doug and Renee Karns, Terry and Coleen Loughrey, Roger and Bev Mauter, and Ron Chernicky in Elyria at a rest stop for the Ohio Turnpike. We drove a lot that day, crossing into Indiana and heading up into Ludington, Michigan to catch the Badger, the only active-service coal-powered ship on the Great Lakes, early the next morning. Darrell and Bev Floyd were also on board, and it was fun to see the little cars drive onto the large ferry. The ferry ride was about four hours, but it was nice to have that time out of the Triumphs and not have to drive through Chicago. Day two of the drive took us from where the ferry docked in Manitowoc, WI across the state to La Crosse. There are some exciting and fun roads to drive in Wisconsin! Eric had planned out the route to and from VTR and did an excellent job. We ran into one small detour, but otherwise the trip went as planned. We were delighted with the town of La Crosse. The hotel was located on the Mississippi River with a walkway and many benches making it easy to enjoy the beautiful scenery. There was a paddlewheel boat on the river as well as many barges that would make daily treks past the hotel. There were many unique restaurants and quaint shops within walking distance, which made it easy to find fun things to do during the down time. A group of us did a couple of the self-guided driving tours in Minnesota and saw the Pickwick Mill and one of the dams and locks on the Mississippi River. One of the highlights was taking the Sunset Cocktail Cruise on the paddlewheel boat, which offered beautiful scenery and a lovely sunset. Rain threatened but never happened during the car show. There were nearly 180 cars registered for the event and it was set in a park on the bank of the Mississippi. When it was all over, Bev and Darrell maintained their position in the Preservation Class, Doug and Renee won 1st in their concours class with their TR7, Ron received 2nd place in his concours class with his TR2, Roger and Bev received 2nd place in the late TR6 participants choice, and Eric and I received 3rd place in the early TR6 participants choice. Our way home included stops at The House on the Rock and Ronald Reagan s boyhood home in Dixon, Illinois. We did have a small mishap just as we were about to leave Wisconsin and enter Illinois when we came across a tree that had just fallen across the road. An officer was there and helped Eric determine an alternate route. We also made a stop at the Route 66 Museum in Pontiac, Illinois and were able to take great pictures of the little cars in front of the mural. Between the weather, the company, the route, and the event, it couldn t have been any better on our trip to and from Wisconsin. The little cars all ran well and we were all blessed to arrive safely home. Cathy Langreder
