CCBCC Past Events TEDDY BEAR SPAGHETTI LUNCH Cont. There were at least 12 club volunteers serving over 200 lunches to the students, their families, and the staff of Penfield school. Thank s to Pam and Jack Waschbusch and Mike Musser for all the preparation they did at home the evening before. Pounds and pounds of angel hair pasta were made and served. Along with garlic bread, cookies and lemonade. Everyone was very appreciative of all the work that went into preparing and serving this lunch. This was the 26th year that the club has helped with this luncheon and the first year we completely sponsored it. In the past we assisted a group from the CHP. This group of children took great joy in tossing their stuffed animals in the air repeatedly. All the teddy bears we donated at the Nov. Teddy Bear Run were handed out by Santa after the teachers selected the best bear for each child. Page 8

A Day at the CCBCC Oxnard Car Show by Scott McKee When I bought the Stag I was aware that the prior owner was a member of CCBCC. I was planning for some time to show CCBCC that the Stag is still among friends. The thought was to go visit my Mother in Lompoc then stop at the car show on the way back. Little did I realize the weekend was going to be a rainy one. The drive up on Friday was great and not a drop of rain showed up. Saturday in Lompoc was rain. I was fortunate to have the Stag tucked away in the garage to keep dry. On Sunday Kate and I left around 6:30am and headed for Oxnard. The good news was the skies showed no sign of rain. I've been to this show a few times and every time I was there it was cold and the sun did not show up until it was time to leave around 3pm. I was prepared for the cold and dreary skies. It was quite a surprise to see the sun come out at 8:00am! Whoa, what a bonus! I checked in and took my place on the grass. An hour polishing and cleaning the car got the show started. There didn't seem to be as many this year as I remember. When I ran into a few members I found out why - it was looking like serious rain in LA so they didn't want to bring their Triumphs. Kate and I walked around and we voted on the various cars. What a time we had talking with car owners about their rides. For the most part Kate and I saw eye-to-eye on each car we voted on. After we turned our ballots in we headed for The Farmer's Market to pick up a few items; we know we were going to visit our favorite road stand on our way through Simi Valley so we didn't get much. We went back to the Stag to relax. Not too much longer and a group of judges came around asking about the Stag. They were trolling for the President's "Car he'd most like to drive". I can tell you there were a NUMBER of cars I'd would have liked to drive away in; all the cars were great! Well, maybe the Jewett needed some help. One thing about owning a Stag is there are not a lot of other cars in that class. In this case I was combined with the other V8 Triumphs which were two TR8s. Good looking TR8s at that! I also think Jan Orlow's lone TR7 was also put in with the other two wedges giving a total of 4 cars in my class that are voted on. Much to my surprise I won 1st place in my class! I actually think the TR8 should have won, the interior was much better than mine. It was the BEST day so far. It was time to head home. What a day. Sunny, great cars, friends and an award. Jan, Kathy, Kate and I decided to head home together. It was a bit warm with stop and go traffic when Jan's car started having Page 10
A Day at the CCBCC Oxnard Car Show Cont. problems with his fuel injection so we pulled in to our roadside vegetable stand to investigate. The decision was to call a tow for the rest of the way home. After the tow truck arrived for Jan and Kathy, Kate and I headed on down the Freeway. My route was to go over to the 210 via the 118 then drop down the 57. I've had good luck with traffic with that route in the past. While approaching Pasadena I noticed the sky was getting really DARK! Was this the rain I was hearing about? No sooner that we arrived in Pasadena it was raining - hard. By the time I hit the 610 Fwy I was tired of the heavy rain so I headed south hoping for lighter rain... that did not happen. It was raining for the remaining trip home, whew. I was so glad to get the Stag in the garage to dry out. Page 11
Behind the Wheel editors corner I am attempting to put out a newsletter every month, there may be times I miss a month due to being away. The newsletter is a vital piece of communication to keep members informed of what is happening within our club and lists events that are happening that may be of interest to club members. I would like to feature one member s British car on the cover of each newsletter. If you would like your ride displayed on the cover, please send me a high resolution picture of it in a nice place (not just the parking lot at work!!) to dtreid@gmail.com I have 2 pictures for the next 2 newsletters, let s see yours on the April Issue and beyond. ARTICLES NEEDED: The newsletter is in desperate of articles on anything to do with the club or british cars. Please use Microsoft Word and save as a document. If possible use font Arial and do not do any formatting, just paragraphs of words. UPCOMING EVENTS Page 14 CCBCC Breakfast-Brunch Meets They will be at different venues throughout the year. Stay tuned for information and dates for If you have any suggestions for a Cruise-Meet please contact Jim Hill. Page 12
CLASSIFIEDS CONTINUED 1971 Triumph GT6 MK III for SALE Well I have decided to put my 1971 Triumph GT6 MK III up for sale. It is a nice driver and not a trailer queen in any way as it gets driven at every opportunity I have to drive it although it has been awarded a second place in class in 2014 and a first place in class in 2015 at the CCBCC Annual car show which is a vote by participants of the show for awards. Car was repainted to its original color of Signal Red 32 in July 2014 and was checked from one end to another for rust and corrosion and all was removed at the time of painting. The only rust that was found was in the battery box and that was replaced with a new unit. Interior was replaced at the same time, new carpets, headliner, seat cushions and covers, bumpers were re-chromed, new window seals front and back and bonnet lift strut kit installed. Car is basically stock and has overdrive which works very well. Asking 18K and will consider all reasonable offers and maybe interesting trades. I can be reached either by calling (cell 9am- 9 pm) or by at MHKfler52@gmail.com. Page 13
