The weather sure was great that day. We know some have been out riding already. Keith has even tried riding to test his knee. It went well. We went to the State Officer meeting, along with John and Sue. There was a discussion on the newsletters. They talked about Buckeye Rally, which will be held at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield (where we had our meeting). They are trying to have a lot of vendors and activities planned. Chapter Z has the job of helping with Jail and Bail on Saturday afternoon from 1-5 pm. Since Mansfield is only a couple of hours away, we hope several will be there to help out that day. We had twelve for the dinner at Joey's... and Jim rode his Wing! Floyd joined us and seems to be doing very well. It was good to see Jean again too. I'll bet Jim was glad to have his heated grips & heated seat for the ride home. The Maple Festival parade is just three days after our gathering. If anyone wants to join in, I will have directions for parking after the parade so you can walk around the festival. The Packard Museum has a new theme each year. This year is the British Invasion. They will have all British bikes. If it's nice, we can ride the bikes, otherwise we can meet there. The museum opens at 1 pm. After we tour the museum, we will head to the Wayside Restaurant for an early dinner. Bill also has a place picked out for ice cream! Our first retiree ride is May 25 th. 5 Cleaning and Maintaining Your Motorcycle Helmet Riding season is just about here and now is a good time to get out your helmets, give them a good cleaning and inspect them for any defects or damage. If your helmet has ever been dropped or hit the pavement hard, you may find cracks or scratches that can affect its integrity. Before cleaning the inside of your helmet, consult your owner's manual for any specific instructions on cleaning. You don't want to do anything that may void the warranty. Items to have on hand to clean the inside of your helmet are a gentle shampoo (nothing petroleum based), a soft bristled toothbrush, a microfiber rag, and a large tub of warm water. Remove any of the electronic equipment installed on the helmet. Next remove the chin curtain, cheek pads and any internal pads. Moisten the microfiber rag with the warm water so it is not dripping wet and place the cloth over the helmet and face shield so it can soften any bugs or dirt which have hardened on the exterior of the helmet. Let this sit while you are washing the rest of the pieces. Next, fill your sink with warm water and place a small amount of the shampoo in the water. Shampoo will gently dissolve the oils and dirt that have accumulated on the pads. Massage the parts just like you do when you are washing your hair and then rinse well with warm water. Squeeze out the excess water and then set them out to dry overnight. After the pads have been cleaned, remove the cloth from the helmet. Any grime should be softened. Remove the face shield. Wipe down the helmet with a wet cloth. Use the wet toothbrush to get into the vents and edges. A quick blast of compressed air blown into the vents from the inside of the helmet out will help remove any bugs that may have become lodged. Clean the face shield with a cloth dipped in warm water. Do not use any kind of chemical solvents on the shield. Once all the parts have sufficiently dried, reinstall all the pads and electronic equipment. You now have a nice fresh and clean helmet ready for a fun season of riding! 5

6 A Polish immigrant went to the BMV to apply for a driver's license. First, of course, he had to take the eye sight test. The BMV worker showed him a card with letters. On the bottom row were these letters: C Z W I X N O S T A C Z "Can you read this?" asked the worker. "Read it?" the Polish guy replied - "I know the fellow." 6
