Greetings SBMO friends and family, well the summer is almost over and the kids will be going back to school soon.. and we had a lot of fun in August. We started off the month with our annual picnic at Victor Park. What a great time everyone had visiting with their fellow members and eating some good chow. A big thanks to Joe Huerta for heading up the event, with the assistance of sous chef Jeff Weiss, Ro Burnham for games and Joann Miyamoto for helping with logistics. Too bad we only have the picnic once a year. Also in August we had another outing to Irwindale Speedway for a great night of racing. As normal everyone that brought out a car to display was able to get into the track for free, what a great deal. With September also comes more car shows with the big one of the month being Crusin for a Cure. The big car show of the month is held at the OC Fairground in Costa Mesa and attracts about 3000 cars and trucks. Every year this event raises money and awareness to fight Prostrate Cancer. Many lives have been saved by this event, so get signed up or stop by for a visit on September 26 th. Also on that date is the Saleen show at their facility in Corona which is another fun show. And don t forget about the Orange County Mustang Club s Santa Margarita Car show on September 13. This show is open to all makes and models for the first time. So don t forget to support Roddy and OCMC for this event, I hear that are going to have the big screens set up in the showroom with Football games on, that should be fun. As most of you know I will not be running for re-election and Jim Morrison has decided to run for re-election as Vice President. The person you elect to head up the club needs to be someone that can guide the club in the right direction, and remember it will be done their way and not mine. We have a great Board of Directors and many great volunteers that make this club fun. I will not be attending the October and November meetings and as Vice President Jim will lead us thru those meetings and elections, so I ask that everyone gives Jim their full support. 4 (Pres Continued from page 1) Speaking of the Christmas/ Holiday party, it will be held on December 5 th at The Green Onion. This is the same location where we have been holding the party for the last few years. The food is really good and the staff takes good care of our group. There will be flyers at the October meeting to sign up. We ask that all members attending fill out the flyer and return it with their refundable deposit. If any member has a guest that would like to attend the event then there is a cost. If you would like to participate in the gift exchange all you have to do is bring a gift of at least $15, wrapped and not tag to the party. Things will get started at 6 pm with dinner at 7 pm, so no need to arrive early as we will need that time to get everything set up for you. There will be more information coming soon. The nice thing about being in So Cal is all the car shows and car events that continue all year round. Unlike our fellow Mustangers in the Midwest and East Coast that actually put their trusty steeds up on jacks and let them sit for several months. I know I will be driving my Mustang every chance I get over the winter.
