The month started out with some hot weather for the Capital City Cruisers Cool September Days show, but as September comes to an end we are seeing the beginning of cooler fall weather. Thanks to all the members that attended the Capital City Cruisers show in spite of the HOT weather, and those who participated in the Wheatland Show, where we won another award for Club Participation. We had a good turnout for our Rod Run to Swabbies, and a great turnout of members and friends for the Tour of Beale AFB. It s great to see good club participation in these events. In October, in addition to our regular club activities and car shows, a number of our members will participate in Sun City s 15th Anniversary Celebration. Several members with convertibles will be transporting people from some of the Sun City clubs or organizations and five of us will drive our cars in the parade representing the Rods & Relics. At our September General meeting we had six local charities give us presentations on the great work they do in our community. They are all deserving of our support but to insure our support is meaningful we limit our donations to three. The ones the members voted to support with our 2015 show are the Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, Ride to Walk, and The National Down Syndrome Coalition. I would encourage you to keep all six of them in mind when you think about your charitable giving. The dates for the Sacramento Autorama in 2015 are Saturday February 14, th through Monday, February 16th. It would be great if we could get four or more members to represent Rods & Relics in the Clubhouse. If we want to participate in the Clubhouse we have to make a commitment soon, as it will fill up again this year. If you would want to be a part of the clubhouse let me know ASAP. In last month s newsletter I discussed SB 1079 and AB 69. Neither bill made it to Governor Brown. He could still delay or permanently block transportation fuels from Cap-and-Trade that will take effect January 1, 2015, by executive order. So far, he has not shown that he is willing to, even though it will have an adverse effect on fuel prices as well as food or any products requiring transportation. Cruise Safe, Ray Geiger

5 O C T O B E R N E W S L E T T E R P A G E 5 25the Annual Cameron Park Show N Shine & Fly-In Saturday October 4, 2014 I decided to go to the Cameron Park Show N Shine & Fly-in this year since I have heard it s a good show. When I put out the word that I was going George Funk, Murrill Conley and Joe Novinski said they would go as well. We met at the Target on Sierra College and Hwy. 80, then cruised down Sierra College, over Douglas to Auburn Folsom Rd., past Folsom Lake and on into Cameron Park. When we arrived, there were already hundreds of cars and a lot of planes on display with owners putting the final shine on their car or plane For those of you that went to Eagles Nest Airport in Ione earlier this year the set up is similar. However, the road/taxiway is lined with large homes, most, if not all, with large garages for airplanes and cars. They had a great turnout of cars, vendors and dozens of planes on display. It was a fun day, checking out the cars and planes on the ground and watching the ones that participated on the fly-overs. They gave awards for the best in class airplanes first, and when the car awards were presented. Murrill Conley won a trophy for Best Stock Pre Ray Geiger Pictures from Chester I ve heard it said that a picture is worth a million words so, here are three million words. I have heard many good things about this Show and hope to attend one in the future. These lucky folks attended the tour of Beal Air Force Base located just outside Marysville, CA

6 28th Street Rod Extravaganza in Chester CA What a great weekend Ray Geiger and I enjoyed in Chester. We took different routes and headed out of town. I headed towards Grass Valley and met some friends who build cool cars, two of which were 3 window Ford Coupes. Four other cars joined our group making it a caravan of seven cars. What an easy and great drive as we headed towards Chester. Our first stop was North San Juan. A few of us wanted a Bloody Mary, but it was too early. The little junction was just about closed for business. Not to be discouraged, we headed up to Downieville. The town was hardly open yet, but we took a pit stop and headed to Sierra City. There they opened the bar up for us and we finally had our Bloody Mary. It s not a big car show, a little over 100 cars, in a great grassy park with shade. We parked right by the river running by the park. They had complimentary doughnuts and coffee for us. The weather was perfect as we settled into the show. A great highlight was the poker run around Lake Almanor. The run never backed up, there was great scenery and places to stop. Ray won second prize, $50, with 4 jacks The last card stop was a nice bar and restaurant. We relaxed with refreshments on the outside patio overlooking the lake. There were some great trophy plaques for the winners. Our two buddies with the two three window coupes won awards. (for pictures of some of the cars in the show see page 5) After the car show, it was back to the hotel and out to dinner by the lake. Our next stop was Grey Eagle, a golfing community. We stopped at the Coyote Restaurant for a great lunch. Back on the road we stopped in Quincy for gas and then went on to Chester. We relaxed a bit, then went over to the Elks Lodge to pick up our registration materials. We headed back home Sunday morning. Another great cruise through the beautiful scenery by the Feather River. What is nice about an overnight car event or just going some place, is the enjoyment of driving your hot rod or muscle car or specialty car, meeting new people, hanging out with your friends, and enjoying different places to take our cars. Gargis Sherrie Hickerson TURBO ENCABULATOR (Tongue in cheek) For a number of years now, work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a transmission that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but is also capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters, such an instrument is the turbo encabulator. Now basically, the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motions of conductors and fluxes, it is produced by the modial interaction of magnetoreluctance and capacitive directance. The original machine had a baseplace of prefabulated Amulite, surrounded by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in direct line with the pentametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzel Vanes so-fitted to the ambbifacient lunar wane shaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by the nonreversible trem e pipe to the differential girdlespring on the up-end of the grammeters. The Turbo Encabulator has now reached a high level of development, and is being successfully used in the operation of nofer trunnions. Moreover, whenever a farescent skor motion is required, it may be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocating dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depletion. It s not cheap but I m sure the government will buy it! Ed McVey
