List of club Officers, Board, & Chairpersons Season s greetings y all! As of this writing, we have put Christmas behind us (yay!!) and we now await the arrival of I hope everyone has had a great holiday season thus far and has had a chance to play with their ponies in this fantastic weather!! I got a ride in at Fort Ord today and it was close to 80 degrees. Waaay too hot for me, especially in December!! If you missed the MBE Christmas party you missed out on a nice dinner, excellent company and a chance to take home a handmade cork horse decoration for your tree or tack room! They were so cute hanging on the Manzanita branch we kind of hated to break them all up! There was also a nice DVD giveaway prepared by Doug Jones, our mule man/tech genius. On it were photos and videos of all of this years MBE day rides and campouts. So fun to watch and relive some of our adventures. We also got a moment to honor our Member of the Year, Jan Isasi! For those of you who don t know, Jan has been our newsletter editor for the last few years. In March of 12 and 13, she hosted a trail trial event for the club at her ranch in San Juan Bautista and for the last 3 years has organized the Trail Obstacle Challenge at the Poker Ride. This event at the Poker Ride seems to increase in popularity every year and brings in a little extra revenue for the club. Her efforts to support the club have been phenomenal and SO much appreciated. I only wish that I had half of her energy! So next time you see Jan, please take a moment to congratulate her and to thank her for her efforts! She might even show you her lovely new pin! I think that we have put together a pretty good calendar of events at the ride planning meeting earlier this month. Nothing is finalized as yet, so if there are more suggestions/ideas out there, please plan to attend the January meeting (Watsonville) or let one of us know by /phone. Ideas for new venues and/or adventures are always welcome! I want to remind everyone that our friend Cathleen Sittig has volunteered to put together an MBE cookbook full of our favorite dishes for camping or otherwise. PLEASE, please get your recipes to Cathleen soon so that we can have a cookbook ready in time for the Poker Ride. It was so kind of her to volunteer for this project, so lets show her some appreciation by submitting some recipes!! I know they re out there Time to wrap this mess(age) up. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of MBE most Prosperous and Happy New Year! Let s make 2014 the best year ever for the club! Hope to see all of y all out on the trail real soon! All my best, Syd

4 Page 4 Editor s Notes *Reminder: The new club group facebook page address is: Eprivate/ This is a fun place where we share info, photos, events, ride updates, newsletters, etc. among ourselves. For more info or assistance, you can contact the Facebook committee members. Contact information for board and committee members is on the last page of this & every newsletter. MEMBER STORIES Our previous MBE newsletter editor, Lois Connell, used to include interviews with members. Somehow, I dropped that out as the newsletter went through different design phases. But now, by popular demand, they are back. I started last October by interviewing our officer/board candidates and our new sunshine lady. Syd (Prez); Mardi (VP), Debra (Sec.), Mike (Tres) & Liz (Sunshine lady) Since then, in 2013, we have been able to feature the stories of Justine Gardere, Sunday Minnich, Heather Shupe, Erin Beatie & Laura Linda Strickland. This month, no stories have been submitted. Dec. Meeting Minutes There was no official meeting for the month of December. HOWEVER, there was a December Special meeting held for the purpose of planning a proposed ride/event schedule for the club.for the year Below is a report on that meeting. 1) Meeting was held at 7 pm at the Prunedale Library location. 2) 4 club officers and 12 MBE members attending the meeting. 3) An end-of-year written Treasurer s report was distributed by club Treasurer, Mike Pinto. This report showed a Reconciled 12/12/13 to be: $19, which will be carried forward into the coming year. 4) A proposed ride/event schedule was put together and will show be sent out to the 2013 membership list via mass in December, and will re-appear in the club s January 2014 newsletter, with an invitation to all members to submit their comments and requests to the club officers by January 15, so adjustments can be considered, if requested. If you would like to contribute your story to our newsletter so that members can get to know you, please give me a call ( ) or send me an jjjisasi@sbcglobal.net and I will send you a list of interview questions. Thanks to all.
