Throughout the year, East Lothian hosts many festivals including Scotland s National Airshow, Fringe by the Sea, Lammermuir Festival, The Saltire Festival and that is without mentioning other events and attractions in the county. With over 40 miles of stunning coastline, golden beaches, rolling countryside, award winning attractions, excellent food and drink and the world s finest links golf courses, we have the best of Scotland! It may feel like a million miles away, but East Lothian is only minutes from Edinburgh. Make this a year to remember and book your trip to East Lothian today! 5 European Stone Stacking Championship 21st & 22nd April 2018 The European Stone Stacking Championships return to Dunbar April 21st & 22nd this year. After the great success of last years event featured on the BBC One Show, we have extended it to a two day festival featuring world class artists from Europe and America. The 21st April will be a celebration of Earth Day, held in Lauderdale Park, featuring two of the competitions, including the under 14s, as well as unique stalls from across the art and nature world, live music, stone balance workshops and lots of creative fun for kids. April 22nd will feature the two main adult competitions, most stones balanced vertically and best artistic stone balance. This will be held at the Eye Cave beach, the same venue as last year. This promises to be a great celebration of art and nature in the town that gave birth to John Muir the father of conservation. TICKET PRICING All events are free. The competition is limited to 50 people so early booking is recommended via the website. 7 3 Harbours Arts Festival 30th June 8th July 2018 Welcome to the Harbours Arts Festival. East Lothian s longest established festival of art, music and events. This year we have moved our dates into the school holidays as this is the year of youth. We have a full programme of young people activities across Port Seton, Cockenzie and Prestonpans from Saturday 30th June to 8th July. Music concerts, celebration of history and art in unusual places remain our bedrock of the festival. Art exhibitions along the coast and associated events. Our free brochure will be available online and stocked locally. TICKET PRICING Tickets will range from 6 to 10 for music events. See aircraft old and new take to the skies for an afternoon of breath-taking aerial displays. Events at the National Museum of Flight in 2018 Don t miss the fantastic programme of special events at the National Museum of Flight in Wartime Experience (Sun 6 May) brings wartime stories to life, create, play and learn with LEGO bricks at Awesome Bricks (Sat 16 & Sun 17 Jun), and enjoy an exhilarating day of transport-themed stunts and activities at The Wheels and Wings Show (Sun 23 Sep). 10 Fringe by the Sea Fringe by the Sea 3rd August 12th August 2018 Fringe By the Sea will have more events, more encores and more magic this year as the multi-arts festival, based around North Berwick seafront, expands to ten days for the first time. Some of the most exciting names in music will be popping into town, alongside well-known comics, entertainers and world-renowned authors. The children s programme will be expanded this year, with shows and activities for all ages. The hub of the festival is the wonderful walled harbour, which is the setting for two beautiful spiegeltents, the Palais des Glaces, which holds up to 600 people and La Gaité, which can welcome an audience of up to 300. Events also take place in venues across town, ranging from churches to fish and chip shops. 10

Some firm festival favourites will be returning, as well as some new and surprising names, in the line up for Tickets will range from 7-40 and there will be free, non-ticketed activities taking place across North Berwick and down by the seashore. 13 Dunbar Street Art Trail 19th 25th August 2018 With its unique blend of art and shop local; enjoy local, national and international artist s exhibitions in High Street shop windows. This art extravaganza is a week long exhibition of some of the best artists from all disciplines. Discover new artists and get sight of your favourites whilst enjoying the wonderful amenities on offer in Dunbar s historic coastal town centre. Take part in daily workshops on photography, life drawing, stone balance, graffiti and painting and discover your inner artist. A festival day will conclude the art trail on Saturday 25th August featuring plenty of interactive art showcases from chalking and graffiti to stone painting and Lego building. Set to a backdrop of local and national musical talent and all the family favourites: coconut shy, balloon animals, caricaturists, face painting and glitter tattoos make this a wonderful day out for all the family. 17 November 2018 The Saltire Festival is an annual celebration of St. Andrew s Day, bringing together the very best of Scotland in the Home of the Flag. Visitors can discover all that Scotland has to offer: our beautiful outdoors and stunning coastal landscape; delicious food and drink, created with the finest local produce; a long history and fascinating heritage; and hugely entertaining Scottish music, arts, innovation and entertainment. The festival takes place throughout East Lothian, taking in the stunning beaches, rolling countryside and pristine towns and villages of East Lothian. 18 FoxTrail Winter Running Series Foxtrail Winter Running Series including the more recent John Muir Way and Nocturnal Ultra Marathons first became established in 2014 and over the past 4 years has welcomed thousands of runners to East Lothian, showcasing some of the countys most beautiful and iconic Coastal Trails, and woodland. The Foxtrail series encompasses race distances from 5km,10k,13k,16k, Half Marathon and all the way up to Ultra Marathon (50km), with everyone from experienced club athletes to novices trail runners all rubbing shoulders on the start line. The inclusive nature of the trail running series ensures all abilities feel welcome and feel part of the Foxtrail community whether you are running 5km or 50km. 18 The Nocturnal ultra-marathon was introduced in 2017 and was a huge success for both solo and relay runners. This year, the Nocturnal Ultra will be coming back even bigger and better, forming part of a wider series of night running events, spanning over 3 days. Run through our rave barn and our Saltire themed illuminated woodland.

21 Rogue Village create events designed to last long in the memory. With an ever-evolving stable of events including pop-up cinema, street food festival and immersive theatre, they are inspired by the arts, design and nostalgia. Canteen Street Food Festival Canteen is East Lothian s only street food festival and has quickly established itself as one of the leading events of its kind in Scotland. Featuring a selection of the UK s most acclaimed traders, Rogue Village create a familyfriendly carnival atmosphere within the restored 18th century Archerfield Walled Garden. There s more than just the finger-licking food on offer with resident DJs, Four Corners, setting the soundtrack, acres of landscaped grounds and gardens to explore, The Fairy Trail and play area for kids, onsite microbrewery as well as the Gift Shop and Food Market supporting local producers. 22 The Brunton The Brunton is the place to be for the best in quality theatre, dance, ballet, classical music, Scottish traditional music, rock and pop, comedy, children s shows, film, live screenings - all year round, as well as special seasonal events. 22 East Lothian s flagship arts venue produces their own Christmas pantomime, traditional style with lots of humour and music. Family Hogmanay in the Honest Toun is a daylong celebration of the end of the year with lantern making and samba drumming workshops, live theatre, family ceilidhs and a stunning lantern parade led by giant walkabout characters; culminating in an early evening fireworks display. The Brunton becomes an Edinburgh Fringe Festival venue in August with a wealth of music, theatre, film and children s performances to enjoy.
