1 Results News/Events Key Dates Social Media National News County News National Tug-Of-War. Last Saturday saw the National Tug-Of-War finals at Tenbury Show. Representing Oxfordshire and the South East Area were Henley Men's and Abingdon Juniors. As always the National Championships is tough competition with some teams training all year round. Both of Oxfordshire s teams did the county proud, well done guys and gals!

Holding a club officer position can help you as a individual to grow in confidence, to learn things about yourself as well as from the training available to you. In years to come having your achievements listed on your CV can show an employer a lot about your character. To support the recruitment of the next generation of club officers a page has been added to the county website - This list contains a list of the roles available and downloadable files explaining the role further and the key responsibilities. As a county we will be providing a training day, giving elected members the confidence to embrace their new appointment and tips for getting the most out of your role.

4 Results News/Events Key Dates Social Media National News Oxfordshire Youth As members of Oxfordshire Youth, OFYFC have a wealth of experience and advise available to us. With a new membership year round the corner, now is a good time to be thinking of programme ideas and ways of breaking the ice with new members etc. Oxfordshire Youth have popped together a downloadable pdf Get your Games on full of games & ideas to help ease the transition into the new membership year. An example shown below was devised to help new recruits to get to know members of staff and other club members, with no costs associated to doing so. The full Get your Games on PDF can be downloaded here. Chairs Ask the young people to take a chair and spread out so that everyone is dispersed around the room. Once this is done ask one person to stand up and walk to the opposite side of the room to their chair. Once they have done that inform that person that their aim in the game is to now to sit back down on an empty chair. However, they cannot move faster than walking pace and the rest of the team will be working together to stop them doing this by moving to fill the empty chair (but leaving another empty chair behind as a result) Once a young person stands up they cannot sit down on the same chair. If the individual manages to sit down on a chair then the last person to sit down then takes their place. Have Fun!

5 Don t forget please help!!!! Isobel Mogford and her family have kindly offered to host Victoria during her stay in Oxfordshire this summer which is great news. Isobel has asked that as a County we help support her and her family with a range of activities to help keep Victoria entertained and provide an exciting itinerary during her stay in the County. A number of people who have benefitted from experiencing their own travel placement with the NFYFC have come forward and I'm going to take Victoria out for the day but we still need your support, even if its just an idea of a nice event or activity. 7 Club programme idea save the date: All Clubs have been invited to attend a special Harvest Festival at Great Tew Church on Thursday 15th October - time to be advised. During the service there will be a special moment when Young Farmers are invited to bring to the front representative gifts of local produce from local farms. They have also asked whether two or three young farmers would be willing to be interviewed about their thoughts and hopes in farming. Further information will be available shortly and forwarded asap.

In the UK, their breeding station situated just outside of Banbury, breed forage grasses, wheat and have trials of oilseed rape. 10 Could you help?? As you may be aware, Marie Curie s Walk To Remember is fast approaching. This year the walk is being held at the beautiful venue of Blenheim Palace in Oxford on Saturday 8 th August Walk to Remember (formerly Walk Ten) is Marie Curie s flagship mass participation event. Every summer Marie Curie hosts a series of 10k walks at a number of stunning locations across the UK. Each walk is followed by a picnic and entertainment, including fireworks/fire shows at most locations. The most poignant moment is at 10pm, when a Marie Curie Nurse reminds walkers about their work in the community and gives participants the chance to remember a loved one. This year, Blenheim Palace will be holding one of the 10K walks; this will take place on Saturday 8th August We are hoping to attract at least 650 walkers this year, to ensure that the event runs smoothly we are looking for volunteers to help out on the day. There are several roles which will need to be covered throughout the day, so it would be great if you could let me know your availability asap please and any preference on which role you would like. The roles include: Meeter and Greeter Main Gate Marshal Registrations Car Park Marshal T-shirts Volunteer Check-in Route Marshals Signage Collectors Cheerers Could you spare a few hours to make a difference? 12 23rd July 2015 News from Nationals U18 YFC SKI 2016: AUSTRIA!!!! The NFYFC Youth Forum would like to invite all YFC members aged to participate in the first NFYFC under 18 ski trip. The ski trip will be going to Austria to the resort of Saalbach on Saturday 13th February to Sunday 21st February 2016 during half term. The NFYFC Youth Forum has chosen to travel with Equity; they are market leaders in providing successful school ski tours to a choice of resorts across Europe and North America. They are completely financially protected by ABTA and ATOL, meaning in the event of any unlikely unexpected occurrence your money is protected. Equity are also accredited by Learning Outside the Classroom and the School Travel Forum; both organisations which support excellence in the planning and delivery of highly successful ski trips. The cost of the NFYFC ski trip is 799. This price includes coach travel, full board accommodation, lift passes and ski equipment hire including helmets.
