Tolkien was an undergraduate here, as were William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. Sir Roger Bannister, Alan Bennett, Philip Pullman and Martin Amis also studied here. If you are driving to Oxford it is advisable to use the Park and Ride service. There are five large Park and Ride areas on the city approaches, some with free car parking and frequent bus services into the city centre. The nearest short stay parking is in Parks Road and Broad Street. By train - Exeter is a 15 minute walk from Oxford Station, via Hythe Bridge Street, George Street, Broad Street and Turl Street. By coach - The nearest coach stop for London coaches is on the High Street by the Examination School. All other coaches will stop at the main coach station in Gloucester Green off George Street.
