9 9 9 R E C E N T O U T I N G S CLUB RUN TO GOLD COAST 30 TH OCTOBER, It was a unique opportunity to view some beautifully presented vehicles when we headed off to visit Bill Budd s collection on the Gold Coast. We travelled via Bangalow road through to the Pacific Motorway and directly up to the Gold Coast. There we were warmly welcomed by Bill who gave everyone a tour through his home and memorabilia that he has collected throughout his life. He then gave us a tour of his vehicle collection which was admired by all. Bill has Holden, Ford, Chev, Buick, Dodge and Austin carts They have been restored over many years by Bill and are a credit to his devotion and expertise. His vehicles were beautifully presented. Bill s diverse eclectic collection of memorabilia has to seen to be appreciated. It was a beautiful day and the opportunity to see a rare collection of such quality cars and memorabilia was appreciated by all. After our visit we had a pleasant meal at Club Banora before making our way home. Jeff Johnston

11 11 11 CLUB RUN TO EVANS HEAD AND CASINO 20th NOVEMBER Apologies to all the farmers and gardeners, who are hanging out for a drop of the wet stuff, but our Sunday drive dawned lovely and fine. Twenty members met up at the carpark in Lismore. We were heading south east to Evans Head for morning tea, but, as we are contrary people, Rudy and I started off on the road to Bangalow (north west). We should have known that we were in for a good day when the bells of the Catholic church rang out as we drove past. Our scenic route to Evans Head included Bangalow Road - Richmond Hill Rd - Alphadale Road - Rous Road - Dalwood Road - Wardell Road - Bagotville Road (where we were all able to wave to Ray and Linda s family) - Broadwater Road - Broadwater Evans Head Road - and finally to the public park near the kiosk in Evans Head. Some of our members (now numbering 22 as we had picked up Ken and Shirley Bryce on the way) set up on the outdoor tables with their morning tea, while others patronised the kiosk. A chat, walk to the shops or to the river mouth, rounded out a nice morning tea. The drive to lunch was more straightforward - Evans Head to Woodburn and then through Coraki to Casino. I hope the other members in convertibles had more sense than Rudy and I, and did the slip, slop; slap! We arrived about 45 minutes later at the Cecil Hotel. From the comments we heard it was given the tick of approval, with well-priced good food, table service, well set out tables and friendly staff. David Besson took the back route from Murwillumbah to meet us for lunch, and presented George Jensen with a toy bus he bought on a recent trip to the USA. Thank you to all members who joined us on our outing and we hope you all had as good a time as we did. Sue DePaauw

If any member wishes to purchase a shirt for use on club outings the procedure is as below: Purchase the shirt from George Gooleys in Lismore. They have all the necessary sizes and can provide the best fit. Take the shirt to either Daleys ( 21 Woodlark St ) or MR Promotional Products (145 Keen St) for embroidering of the logo. You have the choice of any/all of the following - club logo; club name in letters; your name. Bring your receipt for the embroidery to the Treasurer and the club will refund $5.00 towards the cost.
