6 6 REPORT ON RECENT OUTING TO CASINO & NIMBIN 19 th October 2014 Sue & Rudy De Paauw. On Sunday 19th October, eighteen of us 'age challenged' car buffs decided to relive our youth by taking a journey on a mini rail. We met as usual in Lismore and had a leisurely drive to the Casino Mini Rail, which is based next to the golf course and is one of the longest mini rail systems in Australia. After a nervous beginning for some (mind pictures of falling out of the carriages) and many giggles, we were off on our trip around the golf course and through the Jabiru wetlands, ending up at the Old Casino train station. There were several freshly refurbished tables (the Government's 'work for the dole' and 'work to reduce your prison sentence' programs do really help these volunteer groups) where we set up for our morning tea. Later there was a look through the museum in the train station, and much reminiscing about old time train tales, before we boarded again for the trip back to the home base. Back into our cars we were off to Kyogle. Here we turned off on to Kyogle Road to go through to Cawongla and then via Stony Chute Road to Nimbin. By the time we got to Nimbin I was hoping everyone was still talking to me - it was a rather windy road, not in a great condition. But, as our car was the one that was making the most alarming of noises, I think they all forgave us. Some even said they enjoyed the ride. I hope so. The lunch at the Nimbin Hotel was very good, well worth recommending to others. Afterwards we all wandered at our leisure through the stores and Sunday market stalls set up down the road, before making our own way home. It was a perfect day weather wise and we hope that everyone who came enjoyed the adventure and the company as much as we did. See on the next car club run. Denise & Ellis Vaughan Ken & Shirley Bryce, Brian Sidney, George Jensen, Denise Fenwick Jim Hodgson, Marj Jensen,
