2 Traffic Management Plan for Roebuck Street to Crumpton Street Upper Roebuck Street Police Headquarters to Gills Road & Highway 5 Tweedside Road to Junction of Welches Development As part of the Barbados Water Authority mains upgrade program, Infra Inc. has been contracted to install from the junction of Palmetto Street/Roebuck Street to Roebuck Street/Country Road Intersection and on Tweedside Road. This work will be done in phases and by trenchless installation methods: - - Pipe bursting - Horizontal directional drilling The following phases are: - - Palmetto Street/Roebuck Street Intersection to Roebuck Street/Crumpton Street Intersection - Roebuck Street/Crumpton Street Intersection to Roebuck Street/Country Road Intersection - Tweedside Road Phase 1 Palmetto Street/Roebuck Street Roebuck Street/ Crumpton Street The pipe s that are being replaced is the 15 ductile iron and the 6. They are being replaced with HDPE 16 and 6. These pipes arrive on site in 40 lengths and are then welded together and will remain strung out on the side of the street until they are installed. This phase is projected to last 4 weeks and we will need to close this section of roadway. Proposed Traffic Diversions Traffic will not be permitted to travel onto Roebuck Street, only vehicles servicing businesses. All road signage will be in accordance with the Ministry of Public Works. All notifications will be done by the Barbados Water Authority. 2

3 Traffic Travelling onto Palmetto Street Traffic travelling onto Palmetto Street via Marhill Street will have to exit on Rickett Street. At the junction of St. Michael s Row/ Marhill Street the following measures will be instituted: - - Sign stating Road Closure on Roebuck Street - Directional arrow on Marhill Street directing traffic onto Rickett Street - At the end of Palmetto Street a sign stating Road Closed - A No Entry Sign off High Street to Palmetto Street and a Road Closure - A traffic warden will be stationed on Palmetto informing motorist of the road closure on Roebuck Street ( See fig. below) - 3

4 Traffic Coming from High Street Vehicular traffic coming onto High Street will have to make a left turn onto James Street. The following measures will be implemented: - - A sign stating Road Closure on Roebuck Street - A left turn arrow directing traffic onto James Street - A traffic warden will be placed at the High Street/ James Street Intersection to inform motorist ( See fig. below) 4

5 Traffic travelling on Magazine Lane Vehicular traffic travelling along Magazine Lane will not continue onto Roebuck Street but will instead make a right turn onto Synagogue Lane. The following measures on Magazine Lane will be implemented: - - A sign stating Road Closure on Roebuck Street - A right turn directional arrow directing traffic thru Synagogue Lane - A traffic warden will be positioned on Magazine Lane to inform motorist to divert thru Synagogue Lane since Roebuck Street is closed ( See fig. below) 5

6 Traffic travelling on to Spry Street from St. Michael s Row Traffic will be allowed to access Spry Street to transact their business but won t be allowed onto Roebuck Street since it will be closed. The following measures will be instituted. On the entrance to Spry Street off St. Michael s Row there will be the following:- - Roebuck Street closed to thru traffic - Local Access onto Spry Street Only - Directional arrow informing motorist to continue travelling along St. Michael s Row - A traffic warden will be stationed at the intersection during the day to advise motorist of the road closure at Roebuck Street ( See Fig. Below) 6

7 Traffic travelling onto Church Street/Polgreen Alley from St. Michael s Row Traffic travelling onto Church Street will be allowed to go the Central Bank and make a right turn onto Polgreen Alley and make another right turn onto Crumpton Street. The following measures will be implemented at the entrance to Church Street off St. Michael s Row:- - Roebuck Street closed to thru traffic - Local Access onto Church Street to the Central Bank Only - Directional arrow informing motorist to continue travelling along St. Michael s Row - A traffic warden will be stationed at the intersection during the day to advise motorist of the road closure at Roebuck Street ( See Fig. Below) 7
