5 Peninsula Pedallers Inc. Web: Wednesday Ride Calendar Notes 2016-Q1 LEISURELY RIDES All rides Bring or Buy Lunch as detailed in the ride calendar. Note: Some rides are BYO Lunch ONLY. Departure Times: Meets 9.45 am Leaves am Rides involving a Train Ride will have a detailed starting time in the ride calendar (Pages 7 & 8). This time will most likely vary from the usual am departure time applicable to all other rides. The start point for the Wednesday's Leisurely Ride will most likely vary to the Faster Group ride. Riders / new riders wishing to ride with the Leisurely Group can contact Garry Naismith on or to receive general information on club rides, equipment, starting point and ride description. The Leisurely Group like to enjoy the scenery, have frequent stops for a breather and a drink and enjoy wending our way along rail trails rather than sticking to the sometimes busy roads. We offer alternatives to the main calendar rides for those who want a more relaxing experience. The Leisurely Group is a comfortable entry ride group for nervous beginners who may then graduate to the Fast rides. Shorter ride options can be included within some rides for less e xperienced riders. (3 Month Leisurely Group Wednesday Calendar see pgs. 7&8) FASTER GROUP RIDES The following is applicable to all Faster Group Rides. NOTE: All rides Bring or Buy Lunch. Departure Times: Meets 9.45am Leaves am Baxter rides which start at 674 Frankston-Flinders Road are from Dennis Ballard s home. Proceed up the access road beside Peninsular Link on the south side for about 300 metres (entrance opposite Deborah Drive) and enter at the first gate (which is the driveway to Dennis s property). Parking is on the property, not the road. Important note for new riders wishing to ride with the faster group. Whilst we welcome new riders to the group, please contact the ride leader for the planned ride to discuss the suitability of the ride in terms of fitness and difficulty of the ride. We often ride for sustained periods in the mid to high 20 s and some of our rides include significant hills. Many of our riders are retirees and not so young?, but a reasonable level of fitness is still needed to enjoy the rides. It may be preferable for new riders to have an initial ride with the leisurely group so as to assess suitability to ride with the faster group, however this can be waived in cases where clearly not appropriate. (We think that the term Faster group is something of a joke!) (3 Month Faster Group Wednesday Calendar follows on next page) Note: Always check with ride leaders in cases of inclement weather as rides may be cancelled at the last minute Page 5 of 8
