Deborah is a leader in the her field as well as an innovator of major trends and winner of numerous awards and accolades such as, The Most Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year 1997 and Hong Kong s Most Inspiring Modern Women Always the innovator, in early 2002 Deborah discovered Botox in Australia along with other non-invasive anti-aging procedures that created MAGIC, she set up the first Medi Spa in Hong Kong hence the name of her Medi Spa THE FACE MAGIC HAVEN. MARY DARLING Owner & Founder, Mary Darling Consulting, Indonesia Mary Darling is considered an expert in the hospitality community. Passionate about making projects successful and bringing about that success in a fun and entertaining way, she ensures an enduring and positive relationship with her clients. She is a regular speaker at various industry conferences and events, and is often published in print media. Co-founder of Bali Wellness Journeys, Bali-based LOHAS-Asia partner, and an Asia Spa Guru/ 2010, she continues to challenge herself in creating the role of Cancercierge for those needing care, concern, and coordination. JENNY LO Director, New Media Services CatchOn & Company Limited, Hong Kong With over 11 years of experience in brand development, research, and marketing communications, Jenny has worked with a number of hospitality, spa and beauty brands, including CHI The Spa at Shangri-La, Willow Stream Spa of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Aromatherapy Associates and Sulwhasoo, etc. A forward-thinking expert in digital media, Jenny creates detailed ready-to-go action plans to help brands interact with target customers on social media platforms, monitor market sentiment and keep track of the competition. Jenny holds a Master Degree in Communications and has received training in laws. Over the past few years, she has led CatchOn s proprietary research projects, including 2005 s Hong Kong Spa Consumer Report and the 2008 China Spa Consumer Study.

2 FIFI KAO Director and Editor in Chief, SpaChina Magazine, China Fifi was born in Shanghai and studied psychology and graphic design in Tokyo. She joined SinoMedia as design director which she remained for five years and then went on to become managing editor of STARDOM magazine of Starwood Hotels and Resorts. She is now Director and Chief Editor of SpaChina Magazine. In her spare time, she practices Tai Chi and studies Traditional Chinese Medicine and won silver medal prizes at the 6th Hong Kong International Wushu Festival 2008, Fifi is an international nutrition consultant with IARI (International Accreditation and Registration Institute) fluent in English and Japanese. She also won the China Woman in Business Leadership Award 2009 as the Creative Director of the year by China Woman Organization. In 2005, she wrote and illustrated a children s book. GEORGIE YAM Founder & CEO, Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat, China Georgie has years of experience in the hair, beauty, and day-spa sector. He started his first business in Singapore where he became one of the most sought after hair stylists in Asia. In Singapore he operated his own beauty salon, The Salon by Georgie Yam and was a co-founder of The Retreat a hotel urban day-spa concept that operated 3 locations. Georgie came to China and launched Dragonfly in 2003 as a unique boutique urban dayspa concept targeting primarily overseas expatriates, business and tourist travelers. With his training background Georgie pays considerable attention to detail and that is the key factor he attributes to Dragonfly s success to date. Operating 20 retreats in Greater China within 7 cities and through more than 800 staff serving up to a million demanding customers per year, he is proud of the strong team he has built. SIMON SHEPHERDSON Managing Director, International Leisure Consultants, Hong Kong Simon Shepherdson has been leading International Leisure Consultants (ILC) for the last 15 years in providing specialist development services to the spa and club industry throughout the Asia Pacific region, having spent over 25 years in Asia. Currently working on the development planning of more than 10 spas, ILC work with groups such as Mandarin Oriental, Starwood, Langham in the realisation of some of the best spas in the region. With Simons'background in the club sector, ILC are also in demand for the development of prestigious member clubs and are working from Dubai to Mumbai to Beijing on the conceptualisation and planning of city, country and marina clubs - and the spas that they include!

3 BARRY WHITE Group Director of Spa, Chuan Spa, Langham Hospitality Group, Hong Kong Barry White launched the first Chuan Spa in Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong in 2005 and now overseas all aspects of the award-winning global brand, which is widely being recognized as a haven Oriental pampering and well-being. Chuan Spa currently operates in seven locations, including Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zealand, USA and UK. Fifteen new Chuan Spas, which will offer the same holistic regenerating journey that nurtures, heals and restores, are currently in development. It is the only global spa brand based upon TCM. Barry White oversees all aspects of both Chuan Spa Kirsty MacCormick Corporate Director of Spa, ONYX Hospitality Group, Thailand Kirsty has over 20 years of experience within the spa industry, including extensive knowledge of spa operations and development throughout Asia and Europe. She began her career as a therapist in her native homeland in the United Kingdom before moving on to operating her own spa and retail company. Prior to joining ONYX, Kirsty was Director of Spa and Wellness Operations at leading consultancy, Spatality International where she was responsible for directing the overall management and development of the international spa operations. Kirsty joined the Mandarin Oriental hotel group in She opened and operated the spa at the prestigious Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo and in June 2006, Kirsty was presented with the Mandarin Oriental Spa Division s Golden Fan Award for personal excellence following the initial success of the spa. In 2007 she was transferred to China to join the pre-opening team of the Mandarin Oriental, Beijing. SEAN O CONNOR Group Spa Manager Design & Development, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Hong Kong Sean O Connor is Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group s Group Spa Manager - - Design and Development, responsible for the design and development aspects of all current spas within Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, plus those currently under development. Part of Sean s role is to identify new trends and development in the spa and wellness industry that fit well with Mandarin Oriental s overall spa philosophy, leader in the design and operation of wellness and lifestyle facilities, and intends to remain at the forefront of the industry. The Group continually explores ways to meet and exceed in its mission of completely delighting and satisfying its guests.

4 VANESSA MAIN Director of Spa Development & Operations - Asia Pacific Hilton Worldwide, Singapore Vanessa has a wealth of expertise in the Spa & Wellness industry having worked across much of Australia, Indian Ocean, Asia and the Middle East. With an established background in pre-opening project management, concept design and operational spa management, her skills, knowledge and passion for the industry has continued to grow through her recent roles and diverse experiences. Vanessa has been instrumental in the creation of many premium spa brands including Hayman Island, Voyages Luxury Resorts, Chuan Spa at The Langham Hotel, Mirvac Hotels & Resorts, Lime Spa for Per Aquum Resorts & Spas and most recently eforea: spa at Hilton. Her portfolio covers Asia Pacific and spans 10 different hotel brands including The Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Hilton and Doubletree. With over 100 spa projects currently under development and 50 spas currently operating within the Asia Pacific region, Vanessa plays an integral role in the emergence of Hilton Worldwide as an International leader in the execution of exceptional spa experiences. AJAY PAHWA CEO, Kaya Skin Clinic, India Ajay has 20 years of international experience in building global retail brands and leading diverse teams. Prior to joining Kaya, he was with Yum Restaurants International since 1995, where he held key positions in Far East, UK, Middle East and North Africa. His prior experience also includes roles at Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong and Sheraton, Hong Kong. Ajay began his career with the Oberoi Group of Hotels in management roles in Mumbai and Delhi. An MBA from IMD Lausanne (Switzerland), Ajay also holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from Delhi University. His hospitality training includes a Diploma in Hotel Management from Institute of Hotel Management (Delhi) followed by Oberoi School of Management (Delhi). He also completed a Certification Course in Chain Store Management from the Cornell University (USA). SANDEEP AHUJA Managing Director, VLCC Healthcare Ltd, India Prior to his current assignment at VLCC, Sandeep was head of the VLCC subsidiary which manufactures and markets herbal / ayurvedic cosmetics. Sandeep s wide and varied experience of over 2 decades spans marketing, communications strategy development, media relations and brand communications. Prior to joining VLCC, he was Director & CEO of Lexicon Public Relations & Corporate Consultants Limited, an affiliate of Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., one of the world s largest communications consultancies. He was largely responsible for establishing Lexicon as one of the top 10 communications consultancies in India and worked with a host of prestigious companies as clients, including Avon Beauty Products, Escorts Group, Goodyear India, Iomega, Lufthansa German Airlines, Maruti Udyog, Timex Watches, Toyota Motor Company, United Airlines and WorldCom.

5 MODERATOR MELINDA YON Senior Academic Staff Diploma in Wellness, Lifestyle and Spa Management Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Melinda is currently working with Republic Polytechnic s School of Hospitality in Singapore where she is a Senior Academic Staff member and part of the Spa, Leisure and Wellness Diploma team. Melinda s passion for spa and wellness began 20 years ago in her native Australia, following a desire to attain and maintain a healthy and well balanced lifestyle. Having lived in Asia for 10 years, she has been a Spa Consultant, Spa Manager, Spa business owner, lecturer for spa management courses and spa writer. Melinda has also been a frequent guest speaker at many of the region s spa and wellness conferences, including serving as the emcee for several of them. She also authored and edited the first three annual editions of Asia s first spa publication dedicated to men, AsiaSpa Men. Melinda was a board member of the Asia Pacific Spa and Wellness Coalition (APSWC) for three years, and for several years has been a judge for the region s most prestigious, AsiaSpa Awards.
