Gebirgskorps ( XXXVI Mountain Corps) 53 Formed as Grenzschutzabschnittskommando lu in the spring of 939> this unit was converted on September 7, 939> to Generalkommando Gienanth and renamed Hoheres Kommando z.b.v. XXXVI on October 9, 939» It subsequently became known as Hoheres Kommando XXXVI. During the Polish campaign the Corps occupied and secured Poznan Province. In 9^0 it was transferred to Luxembourg and participated in the western campaign in the Verdun, Nancy, and Toul areas. The Corps was transferred to Norway in September 9^0 and to Finland in 9^, where it fought the Russians in northern Finland. On June 5, 9^ 9 Hoheres Kommando XXXVI was renamed XXXVI. Armeekorps and on November 2U, 9^, it was redesignated XXXVT. Gebirgskorps. The Corps remained on the Finnish front until the summer of Dates No. Roll st Frame la, Korpsbef ehle.
