7 A QUARTER OF OVERNIGHTS IN JULY July is clearly the single most popular month for the Norwegians to stay in Finland a quarter of the whole year s overnigts is registered then. Norwegian visitors also spent almost nights more in July 2015 compared to previous year. 9 DESTINATION AREAS BY SEASON Helsinki, Lakeland and especially Lapland have grown their share of Norwegian overnights during the last ten years. On the other hand, coastal areas and archipelago, which was Norwegian visitors favourite destination to stay until 2009, has lost share. 13 PURPOSE OF THE TRIP Of trips made from Norway, with Finland as the main destination, almost half were business trips. A quarter of trips to Finland were visits to friends or relatives and a fifth were leisure trips. 15 ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCES IN FINLAND Summer activities on the water would be Norwegians favourite thing to try out while visiting Finland - a third of visitors were interested in them, but only 10 % had actually experienced them. Cultural attractions, sauna and summer activities on land were the next most interesting things to experience, respectively.
