2 Introduction This project exposes the rese~rd~oints of views of a possible site in Region 3 that can be used to attract Tourist. The researcher chooses Fort Zealandia that is ::;::. located on Fort Island in the Essequibo River. The researcher will create an advertisement with the aim of getting people to visit the site. The researcher will create a collage, which will giv~ a pictorial representation Note: The information of this site. in this project is not meant to be misused but rather to fulfill the aims and targets of the author/researcher, which are: 1. Discussions on why this site will be a suitable tourist attraction. 2. Suggestions in which this site could be improved and made even more attractive as a tourist destination.

5 Boating -The Essequibo River is the third largest in South America. It's the largest waterway spanning 600 miles and flowing into ~he Rupununi River in Region 9. The river experiences a tidal rise and fall every 12 hours, a rise of 8 feet daily with nip tide every full moon. This River has rocks, sand beaches and it is about 80 feet deep in certain areas. Boat captains will give you the ride and a thrill of your 1ife if you are more on the adventurousside, they are very knowledgeable and know their course or stick to the channels at all times. FortZealandia can be viewed when travelling along the river. This site is truly breathtakingwhen cast their eyes upon the remains of the historicdutchfort7a. Sport fishing can also be done which seems as an almost natural choice, considering the thousands of miles of river. The fresh Basha which is the crown of Guyana's bottom fishing an average species is 3-5 Ibs. Catfish (catfish rule in Guyana with the biggest species). Tiger fish- the prehistoric zip fish.payara fish or vampire fish this saber toothed and prehistoric in appearance is fast-moving with brutal strength. 6 2. Suggest two ways in which this site could be improved and made even more attractive as a tourist destination. Improve the way history is taught.e.g. Videos, picture~, signs, tour and gujde's. ~prove cosmetic appearance e.g. replant, reconstruct and to construct self-contain reproduc~ hutsjor overnight stay or weekend getaways and also oric articles found on the Fort. Impl~t activities to involve crowd participation e.g. assign role play to visitors and stimulat~fort Zealandia in its former glory. Introduce a 'Cross Country Birding Trod' to weekend getaways that bring birderscloser to feathered friends and dreams. Have sport fishing competition, to see ho can bring in the best catch. Arrange boating competition e.g. gatta. &

7 Report On the first day, the author/researcher, with the help of the teacher, successfully identify a site in Region 3 that can be used as a Tourist Attrac,tion. He (author/researcher) then successfully went to the site and took pictures and spoke to residence that lives near the Forth. On the second day, the author/researcher made a draft structure of how the project would look like in which he included the cover page, introduction, acknowledge, content page, Discussion, suggestions, advertisement and a collage which gives a pictorial representation of the site and a conclusion,. On the third day, finalized the project with the teacher and did final touch ups. Then printed the final and original copy and handed it up~.j

9 In conclusion. The author jresearcher of this project would like to add the following points: 1To have this historic site in Region 3 is very important as a Tourist Attraction. 2. Tourist will experience and somewhar-relive history on Fort Island, The Island is full of mysteries, Stories can be told and visitors can enjoy a great swim and family picnic. Birdwatchers will have a blast. 3. The resident of Fort Island is very friendly and welcoming with lovely art pieces and Dutch bottles. They are willing to share their freshly picked fruits. 4. Guyana is a very beautiful country and people should visit different places and learn about our rich history, one learns by seeing, exploring and experiencing.
