These are required for an application to be complete. All 1st year Camp Counselors are required to attend Camp Counselor Training before serving; this will be announced soon. Camp will be June 24 June 28, with counselors arriving on June st year counselors will be helping at 1 st camp only. *APPLICATION DUE FEBRUARY 1, 2019 Counselors must be enrolled 4-H members and are required to follow the 4-H code of conduct and rules set by 4-H staff. 6 To be signed by ALL counselors (new, returning, head) As a Camp Counselor, I commit myself to: Being a good role model at all times. I will show interest in all activities even if it is not my favorite thing to do. Getting to know the members of my group, the best that I can. Helping them to get acquainted with one another. Treating all campers the same. Respecting differences. I will attend all camp planning meetings, if I cannot attend I will inform the Extension Office before the meeting is to take place. (Missing more than ONE of the mandatory meetings WILL affect you Camp Counselor privileges) Seeing that all members of my group become involved or has a part in each activity. I know that camp counselors are not there to socialize with each other, but provide a great camp experience for the kids. Being willing to assist those in charge of the camp in any way that I can. Being prompt to all activities and willing to step in WHEREVER needed. Giving up my personal interests, so that the needs and interests of the campers can be met, realizing that the campers come first. Being available to the campers at all times. Knowing when it is time to take a few minutes of break time to regain my composure so I can be as energetic as possible. Not hesitating to ask an adult or another counselor for advice if I have a situation that I do not understand. Trying my best to create an atmosphere of fun and fellowship so strong that everyone in my group will want to attend camp again next year! Keeping a good spirit, cheerful, and positive attitude. Being loyal, kind, positive and considerate of all camp counselors. Being open to advice and positive criticism from fellow counselors and coordinator of the camp so that I can achieve personal growth and help the camp be the best that it can be! Follow the Minnesota 4-H Code of Conduct and all camp rules as set forth by the Extension Office and Leader s Council. I realize that if I do not follow the rules the 4-H Program Coordinator will not allow me to be a camp counselor. To follow evening curfew and keep my cell phone off, knowing that if I do not I will be going home for the rest of camp and not able to return.
