2 Introduction about KEEP In April 2016, Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan, suffered two major earthquakes of an intensity not seen since the Tohoku earthquake of After seeing the hardships of the foreign residents during the earthquakes, especially those who could not speak Japanese and struggled to get help and information, Kumamoto Earthquake Experience Project (KEEP) was started in May 2016 with the support of Kumamoto University.

3 Aims of the project プロジェットの目的 Spread the message of those who experienced the earthquakes to people across the world in English 英語で外国人の体験を世界に伝えます Help with the creation of better disaster policy for foreigners 外国人のためにもっといい災害の公共政策を作るのを手伝いたい Use this experience to build bridges between the Japanese and international community in Kumamoto, enabling us all to contribute to the bright future of Kumamoto 皆一緒に将来へ行こう! 3

We are looking to restart this project after our booklet launch 7
