2 Invitation Dear colleagues, As chair of the National Organizing Committee (NOC) and IMEKO TC-3, I am pleased to invite you to the Asia-Pacific Symposium on Measurement of Mass, Force and Torque (APMF 2005) being held in Jeju, Korea from August 30 ~ September 3, As you might be well aware, the APMF began in 1992 just as a joint symposium between China and Japan to exchange technical information and expertise in the area of mass, force and torque measurement. Over the last twelve (12) years, however, it has developed into a most active forum representing the Asia-Pacific region in that area. At the APMF 2005 which is the fifth following its predecessors, some 100 experts are expected to get together to share up-to-date information and discuss current issues in mass, force and torque measurement with the presentation of about 50 papers of quality. Additionally, Jeju island, being the venue of the symposium will provide pleasant surroundings of sparkling beaches and magnificent extinct volcanoes for you to work as well as relax yourself. I am sure that the APMF 2005 in Jeju will be an event to be of benefit to all the participants academically, physically and mentally. I look forward to seeing you all in Jeju. Dr. Dae Im Kang Chairman of APMF 2005/IMEKO TC-3

The scenic hill, which would be the back of the cow, is one of the Udo-palkyung (Eight Scenic Spots of Udo). Udo takes 15 minutes from Seongsan port by transportation ship. Chongbang Waterfall The only seaside waterfall in Asia. The water falls directly into the sea. The falling water creates a thunderous sound and clouds of rainbow mist that create a magnificent sight against the deep blue of the sea Residence for Chusa This is where famous Kim Jeong Hui, whom even the Chinese knew about, perfected his bold Chusa calligraphic style. He resided here for 9 years during the last kingdom in Korea. Performance Hall This is the place where you can enjoy watching a fantastic Chinese Acrobats.
13 Miniature Theme Park It holds over 100 miniatures of more than 30 countries, especially the famous architectures all over the world Honeymoon House This is the restaurant with a great ocean view located at the Jeju Paradise Hotel. The Natural History Exhibit Hall is composed of 6 exhibition rooms for rocks, marine animals, plants, insects, birds and mammals Bonsai Tree Garden The world s largest bonsai garden. The garden was created through the work of the dedicated farmer for 30 years. 2,000 pieces of the bonsai (miniature trees) and 100 rare tree species grow in this garden O seolok Green Tea Museum This is the largest green-tea plantation in Korea, which belongs to the Amore Pacific. Mt. Sanbang and Yonmori Shore Mt. Sanbang : According to the tale, Old women solmundae hit the tip of Mt. Halla (1950 m above sea level) with her laundry bat by mistake. The tip flew off and landed to become Mt. Sanbang (395 m above sea level) Yongmori shore : The beach at the foot of Mt. Sanbang. There is a rocky hill that is shaped like the head of dragon entering the water. Jusangjolli Beach at Coast An unusual rock formation created by the erosion from ocean waves and wind. It is as if someone stacked a pile of hexagonal crystals on the seashore.
