Our Group seeks not only to comply but to go further than the statutory minimum by actively taking measures to reduce our environmental footprint, to help those in need via charitable work, to heavily invest in education and training, and to support cultural activities in the markets we serve. Efforts to reduce harmful emissions, a Group top priority, took a major step forward in the last few s, when we announced the signing of an agreement to build twelve hybrid ro-ro vessels in China. This US$800 million investment will give us some of the most environmentally sound ships trading. They will boast double the loading capacity of the previous generation while consuming the same quantity of fuel at the same speed: that s a 100% increase in fuel efficiency. Thanks to the electricity generated by huge on-board lithium batteries, charged during navigation with the aid of solar panels, these vessels will not use any fossil fuel while in port. Bubble-layers under the hull will reduce friction, while non-toic silicon paint will prevent substances being released into the sea. Those of you who have read our annual Group sustainability report will know that we monitor our CO 2 emissions closely, and take pride in the reductions achieved. As the result of our fuel efficiency investments, CO 2 emissions per nautical mile dropped by more than 6% in 2016 and the same is epected in Similar reductions were achieved in sulphur emissions. With the price of oil moving upwards once again, fuel efficiency will also contribute to the Group s bottom line. Ship-lengthening is another way of moving more cargo (and passengers) per tonne-kilometre. In March, we announced that the cruise-ferries Cruise Roma and Cruise Barcelona will be lengthened by around 30 metres, meaning they will enjoy a total capacity for 3,500 passengers and 3,700 linear metres of rolling cargo on their Civitavecchia-Porto Torres-Barcelona route. Our northern European sister company, Finnlines, is also undergoing an etensive ship-lengthening programme involving si units. On the over hand, the Grimaldi Foundation turned ten in Founded by the Grimaldi family, it has sofar spent 5.4 million in 126 different projects both in Italy and abroad, thanks to the donations of the Grimaldi family members and to the yearly infusions of 1% of the Group s net profits, meaning it now has a patrimony of more than Euro 20 million, allowing us to contribute to scores of projects. One of the Foundation s main goals is the welfare of those Group employees in need, as well as their families. Significant disbursements have already taken place, benefiting individuals and families in need. We are guided in our efforts to trade sustainably by the United Nations development goals set down in These include the eradication of poverty, quality education, access to water and sanitation, as well as access to affordable, reliable energy. We cannot change the world, but we are determined to do our part by setting the bar high and by measuring, using key performance indicators, how far we have come towards meeting our goals.

3 The Grimaldi Group orders twelve hybrid ro/ro vessels USD 800 million contract signed with Chinese shipyards of Jinling FLEET In the framework of the epansion and modernisation programme of its owned fleet, the Grimaldi Group has signed on the 26 th of April an agreement for the construction of si ro/ro vessels, followed by a second agreement signed on the 23 rd of May for another si units. The total investment is worth about USD 800 million. The order was awarded to the Chinese shipyard Jinling, thus consolidating an important partnership with the Group. The new vessels, whose delivery is epected 2020 to 2022, will have a length of 238 metres, a beam of 34 metres and a gross tonnage of 64,000 tonnes. They will be able to transport over 7,800 linear metres of rolling units, equivalent to about 500 trailers. Their loading capacity will be double compared to the one of the largest ships currently operated by the Group and triple compared to the previous generation of ro/ro ships. At the same speed they will consume the same quantity of fuel, meaning a 100% increase in efficiency when measured in terms of consumption/ton of freight transported. The design of the new buildings, called Grimaldi Green 5 th Generation (GG5G), was developed by the Technical and Energy Saving Department of the Grimaldi Group together with the Nordic Engineering Design house Knud E. Hansen and it incorporates innovative elements, partly already patented and protected by copyright. These are the first eamples of a new series of hybrid ro/ro vessels, which From left: Jiang Fuhai, Eecutive Director & General Manager of CSC Nanjing Jinling Shipyard Co.,Ltd; Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director of Grimaldi Group; Ge Biao, Senior Advisor of China Changjiang National Shipping Group (CSC); Gianluca Grimaldi, President of Grimaldi Group; Jiang Qinghua, Vice General Manager of China Changjiang National Shipping Group (CSC); Ding Jianliang, Vice General Manager of CSC Nanjing Jinling Shipyard Co.,Ltd. will use fossil fuel during navigation and electricity while in port, thus guaranteeing zero emissions in port. The vessels will, in fact, be equipped with mega lithium batteries which will allow them to satisfy the energy requirements while at berth. These batteries will be recharged during navigation, through shaft generators adding the so-called peak shaving system, and with the aid of 600 m² of solar panels. The other main technical innovation of these ships is the air lubrication system under the keel creating bubble layers which will reduce friction and hydrodynamic resistance and consequently the emissions deriving fuel consumption. The vessels hull will also be covered with special no-toic silicon paints characterized by low surface roughness which will reduce friction with the sea and does not release any substances into the water. As far as sulphur emissions are concerned, special on-board devices will combine the sulphur released by the propulsive cylinders with the salt contained in sea water, eploiting its natural chemical reaction, producing gypsum, which can be reused on the ground or disposed of in nature. Nine of the ships will be operated by Grimaldi Lines in the Mediterranean while the remaining three, which will be iceclass, will be purchased by the Group s sister company Finnlines and deployed in the North and Baltic Sea. Reducing fuel consumption and, consequently, cutting harmful emissions are categorical imperatives for our Group, proudly said President Gianluca Grimaldi, at the helm of the Group together with the Managing Directors Emanuele Grimaldi and Diego Pacella. It is the first time in the world that such powerful batteries, equivalent to those equipping 90 Tesla cars, will be installed on ships, continues Diego Pacella. We are proud that these eceptional technologies on board will make the GG5G hybrid ro/ro the most innovative and efficient vessels in the world, concludes Emanuele Grimaldi. GNEWS 3

4 FLEET Fleet lengthening programme continues Four additional Grimaldi Lines & Finnlines vessels to be lengthened Giorgio Rizzo, Eecutive Vice President Fincantieri Services and Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director of the Grimaldi Group After the signing of the letter of intent on March 5, Fincantieri and the Grimaldi Group proceeded with the signature of a contract for the lengthening and refurbishment program for the cruise ferries Cruise Roma and Cruise Barcelona. The construction of the two mid-body sections will begin in 2018, while the completion of the works at Palermo shipyard is foreseen within summer The two vessels, currently in service on the Civitavecchia-Porto Torres-Barcelona route with the Grimaldi Lines livery, have been built by Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia and delivered to the Group in 2007 and 2008 respectively. They are 225 meters long, having a gross tonnage of 54,000 tons and capacity of transporting about 3,000 passengers, a 2,400 square meters car deck and appro. 3,000 linear meters for heavy vehicles. About 600 additional linear meters for heavy vehicles, 80 sleeping accommodations in new passenger cabins, two new public spaces with a total capacity of 450 Pullman beds and a new Family self-service restaurant having about GNEWS

5 FLEET Group. The relationship between Fincantieri, one of the world s largest shipbuilding groups and number one by diversification and innovation, and the Grimaldi Group has always been close. The Trieste-headquartered shipyard has built in the past 30 different types of vessels has recently decided to lengthen two additional units within its 70 million Euro Energy Efficiency and Emission Reduction Investment Programme. By the end of May 2018, a further two vessels, MS Finnsky and MS Finnsun, will be lengthened at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Poland, whilst MS Finnbreeze and seats, will be placed in the lengthening section, about 29 meters long. Furthermore important refurbishment works on the eisting public areas will also be carried out, including the creation of a theme restaurant. Finally, safety equipment of the ship will be implemented in order to manage the increased passenger transport capacity. At the end of the lengthening programme, to be carried out by Fincantieri s Ship Repair and Conversion, part of the Services division, each ship will be about 254 meters long, having a gross tonnage of about 63,000 tons and being able to transport 3,500 passengers, with a 3,000 square meters car deck and over 3,700 linear meters for heavy vehicles. From a technological point of view cutting-edge solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact and energy saving will be taken, such as the scrubber system for the ehaust gas cleaning as well as a system to power the ship during the turnaround time in ports, based on mega-lithium batteries, in order to avoid the use of the diesel-powered generators, achieving the goal of zero port emissions, pursued by the Grimaldi for the Neapolitan group. Today Fincantieri is leader in cruise ship design and construction and a reference player in all high-tech shipbuilding industry s sectors, the Group has built more than 7,000 vessels in over 230 years of maritime history. With more than 19,500 employees, of whom more than 8,300 in Italy, 20 shipyards in 4 continents, today Fincantieri is the leading Western shipbuilder. It has among its clients the major cruise operators, the Italian and the U.S. Navy, in addition to several foreign navies, and it is partner of some of the main European defense companies within supranational programmes. Moving to the Baltic and North Sea, Grimaldi sister company Finnlines too is continuing its lengthening programme. After the completion of the works on the vessels MS Finntide and MS Finnwave, it MS Finnsea will be carried out in September December After the modification each lengthened vessel will be metres long and have a capacity of around 4,200 lane metres of rolling cargo, meaning a capacity increase of 30%. These two lengthened vessels, in addition to the previous four, will help us meet increased demand and enable us to serve our customers more efficiently, says Tom Pippingsköld, CFO of Finnlines. One of our strategic decisions is to focus on improving our operational performance, in order to increase competitiveness and improve efficiency of capital employed on our fleet. This investment is also in line with sustainable development: by further increasing our energy efficiency we will contribute to reduce emissions per transported tonne. GNEWS 5
