2 During the Best Practice Session Designing & Sustaining Global Collaborations of the 2018 Ashoka U Exchange, participants were asked to share in small groups their own experience. These thoughts were gathered and posted for all participants to reflect on. In the attached slides are the results. The bullets refer to the aggregated results of the group sessions. 80 St. Thomas University/Port-de-Paix, Haiti Global Solidarity Partnership A project of St. Thomas University, The Diocese of Port-de-Paix, Cafeiere et Cacouyere du Nord Ouest (COCANO), and Atelye Thevenet IMPACT: Cafe Cocano Fair-Trade Coffee Project 1 Coffee farmers in Haiti s Northwest are exporting coffee in a direct fair-trade partnership for the first time in history. 2 - Over 200,000 lbs of coffee have been exported by the cooperative in the last 7 years. 3 - Over 300 families (over 1500 individual farmers) in six parishes of the Diocese of Port-de-Paix are participate during harvest. 4 - The National Association of Haitian Cooperatives identified COCANO as a leading new cooperative n Haiti.

88 St. Thomas University/Port-de-Paix, Haiti Global Solidarity Partnership A project of St. Thomas University, The Diocese of Port-de-Paix, Cafeiere et Cacouyere du Nord Ouest (COCANO), and Atelye Thevenet IMPACT: STU/PdP Solar Energy Initiative school children in Baie-de-Henne - the poorest, most deforested parish of Port-de-Paix are fed by a large solar oven provided by the project. 2 An 18kw solar energy system for the Cathedral of Port-de-Paix has been installed by the STU-Solar team and Haiti Tec. This system is providing sustainable light to thousands who come to this key community center in the capital of the Northwest region, while offsetting 31,197.5 lbs of CO2 pollution annually.
