16 POLICE EXPLORER POST #238 COMMITMENT DISCIPLINE TEAMWORK Provides young men and women the opportunity to experience first hand how a police department functions and what it takes to get started with a career in Law Enforcement. Interact with the community at events such as traffic control at parades, festivals, and special events Explorers meet the first, second, and third Wednesday of the month from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. 17 JUNIOR CHILDREN OF PRIDE (Jr. COP) The Junior Children of Pride program provides youth the skills and opportunity necessary to succeed in life through good citizenship, education and goal setting. The program encourages joint participation with parents, youth and personnel from the Santa Ana Police Department. To participate in this program youth must be between 6 yrs yrs. This is a prevention-based education program that provides parents with knowledge to recognize warning signs of juvenile delinquency, as well as applicable methods to prevent this behavior. 24 TEEN ACADEMY The purpose of the Teen Academy is to increase the understanding and the mutual respect between the young residents of the City of Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Police Department. Teens learn about various departments and careers in law enforcement as well as how a police agency operates. The Teen Academy is designed for young residents between the ages of 13 yrs yrs. 32 GANG REDUCTION INTERVENTION PARTNERSHIP (GRIP) Orange County Gang Reduction & Intervention Partnership is a collaborative effort between the Orange County District Attorney s Office, Orange County Sheriff s Department, Orange County Probation Department, local police departments, several schools districts, faith-based organizations and private businesses who work together to prevent minors from joining criminal street gangs.
