4 2015 In Review 110,941 Total Delegate Days 314 Events 22 Conventions/Multi-Day 129 One Day Meetings 156 Special Events 7 Consumer Shows The LCC drove $16,414,830 worth of economic impact for the London community in 2015 Conventions are a community experience! -Lori Da Silva, CEO & General Manager, LCC The average over-night delegate will spend $309 a day in our community on hotels, shopping, food & beverage and transportation

5 Where Does this Money Go? Average Spending of a Delegate Attending a Conference in London, Ontario (per day) Accommodation $128 Transportation $83 Parking $7 Entertainment $5 Recreation $2 Attractions $2 Meals & Drinks $52 Shopping $27 Other $3 The average non-resident delegate/attendee spends $309 per delegate day staying 2.8 nights in Ontario. Provincial delegates spend $222 while those from the rest of Canada spend $491 per day. Exhibitors on average spend $2,543 per stay. The London Convention Centre brings thousands of people downtown each year, many of whom are from out of town. These groups shop at our businesses, stay at our hotels and dine at our restaurants, strengthening the vitality of our downtown. Janette MacDonald, CEO and General Manager, Downtown London Flow of Economic Impact Meeting planners, organizations & conference/event attendees spend money at the LCC, hotels, restaurants, etc. Direct Economic Impact The LCC and other businesses use this revenue to pay wages and suppliers Indirect Economic Impact The LCC staff and suppliers use their wages/revenue to pay for goods and services in our community - adding more to the overall economic contribution. Did you know that the hospitality industry is the largest employer of students? The LCC employs 18 full-time salaried staff, 20 full time hourly staff & 75 part-time hourly staff. In 2015 the LCC welcomed 4 co-op students from different schools in the city.

6 What do we mean by % of total event revenue at the LCC in 2015 was from conventions and conferences CONVENTION Assemblage of delegates, representatives and members of an organization convened for a common purpose; usually of limited duration with set objectives, but no determined frequency. There is a secondary exhibit component. CONFERENCE Meeting to exchange views, convey a message, open a debate or give publicity to some area of opinion on a specific issue. Although not generally limited in time, conferences are usually of short duration with specific objectives. TRADE SHOWS Exhibits of products and services that are not open to the public; usually held for members of a common or related industry. CONSUMER SHOWS Exhibitions that are open to the public; usually requiring an entrance fee. 3.0% of total Event Revenue at the LCC in 2015 was from Trade & Consumer Shows 16.2% of total Event Revenue at the LCC in 2015 was from Meetings MEETING A general term indicating the coming together of a number of people in one place, for a day or less, to confer or carry out a particular activity. This can be on an ad hoc basis or according to a set pattern. SPECIAL EVENT (FOOD & BEVERAGE) Any catered or concession service provided by a facility. Attendance is rooted in a food function. This includes social events such as weddings, celebrations and luncheons. 43.0% of total Event Revenue at the LCC in 2015 was from Special Events

7 Distribution of Revenue The London Convention Centre is proud to be considered a self-sustaining corporation again in Self-sustaining means that operational costs are covered by revenue generated by LCC events. Since 2007, all funds received from the City have been directed to LCC capital reserves for future building investment. The LCC has directly contributed over $1.62 million to LCC reserves from operational surpluses over the last nine years. At the end of 2015 the LCC launched a capital improvement project, utilizing these funds for the first major upgrade since opening in These upgrades will be complete September 2016.

9 Raving Fans! We would like to extend our appreciation to everyone at the LCC for a superb execution of the Women s Lifestyle Show this past weekend. The event staff including the loading dock, Jane and her team, were excellent and handled all details with great skill. The cafe food quality and variety appeared to be well received by the visitors and hopefully it was busy enough to merit the efforts! The LCC remains one of our favourite places to work and we appreciate the opportunity to have the event there. -Cass Bayley Women s Lifestyle Show The London Convention Centre always makes me feel valued and the staff all go out of their way to make the event seamless. Any request is met with a smile and action. The meal was fantastic - I can always count on that at LCC. David is always helpful with wine selection and bars. The Event Staff are wonderful from load in to load out. -Merrymount Comedy Night We hold two events yearly at the London Convention Centre, I am always confident things will run smoothly. Chris and his staff are quick to assist in any issue, should it arise. When dealing with over 500 guests at each event it is reassuring when our guests will leave happy. It reflects well on our organization and the London Convention Centre. Thank you! -LSTAR I have been running events, conferences, and trade shows for over 20 years and this was our second time at the London Convention Centre. They provide an excellent experience from the first contact with the sales staff, throughout the entire event. 10 Partnerships Developed in 2015 Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much -Helen keller Tourism London and the London Convention Centre announced in June the appointment of Mr. Marc Forgette to the position of Business Development Manager. Marc is based in Ottawa, the primary national association convention feeder market. In partnership with the London Convention Centre, Marc has been contracted to support Tourism London s Director of Conventions, Lynne Gale, CMM, in the development and implementation of both organization s present and future convention marketing plans. The primary focus will be to cultivate qualified sales leads and deliver bid presentations to entice city-wide conventions and multi-day business events to London. Marc is a seasoned and respected industry expert whose primary focus is to leverage a large professional network of key convention and meeting decision-makers to give serious consideration to hosting their events in London. It is anticipated that London s visible presence in the nation s capital will not only strengthen London s reputation as a convention destination but should help stimulate revenue growth as well. Marc is a member of Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) Ottawa-Gatineau chapter & the Ottawa chapter of Meeting Professionals International. A partnership was formed with LEDC in the Near the end of the year, a partnership summer of This partnership saw the social was started between the LCC and Pillar media efforts for the LCC taken on by LEDC s Nonprofit Network. Pillar will be launching Marketing & Communications Department. We Innovation Works programs through the LCC formed this partnership because LEDC has that can be used by conference organizers in-house expertise, they understand our business to add additional value to their conference and we are aligned in our goals to elevate the program, starting in Information about profile of London and to drive economic impact these programs will be available on the LCC for London. 11 In 2015 the LCC was awarded a 4 rating (out of 5) by Green Key Global, a leading environmental certification body whose suite of industry standard programs and resources has been designed specifically for the lodging and meetings industries. Green Key Meetings v2.0 takes a comprehensive look at how facilities perform in the following key areas: Core Areas (Energy, Water, Waste), Communication (Information, Training, Policies & Management), Activities (Community, Procurement, Auditing), Health (Wellness Activities, Air Quality, People), Exhibitions and Audiovisual. Corporate Social Responsibility & Green Initiatives 4,060 meals donated to the Men's Mission of London & Salvation Army 350 Continental Breakfasts 1,720 Hot Breakfasts 1,470Lunches 520 Dinners Upwards of $4000 worth of used theatre equipment was donated to the Grand & Palace Theatres during the deconstruction of the LCC theatre space. Habitat for Humanity was also given various building supplies from the LCC renovation project, diverting these items from landfills lbs of food & $ donated by the LCC staff to the London Food Bank in Trees Planted with ReForest London since 2012 in honour of every new conference or event hosted worth greater than $25,000

A Gathering Place for Everyone Create more flexible, attractive, welcoming space on the 1st floor of the LCC Continue renovation of the current footprint, creating flexible space to host gatherings Reflect community and region in all spaces to tell the London story Ensure a sustainable future through expanded facilities and environmental practices and policies Bring the World to London Collaborating with Tourism London and hospitality partners to identify, solicit and contract city wide conferences and events Continuing to inspire local citizens to act as convention ambassadors Research, identify, solicit and/or create new events and opportunities for the LCC Continue to raise London s destination brand awareness through story telling Fiscal Responsibility Sell naming rights for the LCC and individual function rooms and public areas Sell advertising on electronic and static signs as available Continue strong financial management of events
