Reporting to the Head of Business Tourism, you will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the Visit Belfast Ambassador programme, working with leading academic, medical, business and other leaders to attract national and international conferences and meetings to Belfast. Location Visit Belfast s head office and the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre (VBWC) are located at 9, Donegall Square North, Belfast, BT1 5GB. Visit Belfast also operates Visitor Information Centres (VICs) at George Best Belfast City Airport (GBBCA), Belfast International Airport (BIA) and pop up information desks off-site, for example, on cruise ships or during conferences and events. Visit Belfast also has a satellite office in London. Travel both inside and outside the UK will form part of your job. 2

4 Job Description POSITION: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Ambassador Programme Manager (Permanent, Full time) Business Tourism Department Head of Business Tourism SALARY RANGE: 26,968 to 36,242 PURPOSE: To lead, develop and manage the Visit Belfast Ambassador programme, working with leading academic, medical and business leaders to attract national and international conferences and meetings to Belfast. Identify and develop new business tourism opportunities for the city through the Ambassador network to deliver Visit Belfast sales targets and KPIs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To develop and implement a national and international research programme to identify new conference, meeting and event opportunities for Belfast within key academic, medical, business / economic sectors and cultural/sports sectors. 2. Lead, develop and maintain strong mutually beneficial relationships with key programme stakeholders including Universities, Health Trusts, Invest NI, Business organisations, NI Connections, the international diaspora network, Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland and Tourism Ireland. 3. To develop and deliver an integrated sales and marketing plan for the new Business Ambassador Programme in partnership with Invest NI and NITB to attract more events to Belfast within the corporate MICE sector. 4. To develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan for the Ambassador Programme for both association and corporate sectors within allocated budgets to meet targets and KPIs. 5. To maintain and develop the Ambassador database through strategic research in order to develop quality sales leads and to identify potential conference wins for the city. 6. To monitor developments within Belfast s key economic and academic sectors with a view to recruiting new Ambassadors and identifying new business tourism opportunities for the city. 7. To represent Visit Belfast at industry events and forums such as ICCA / GANG to further development of the programme and support marketing activities. 8. Development of all ambassador marketing and communication materials. 4

5 9. Development and delivery of a targeted events programme (c10-12 events per year) to support ambassador recruitment and relationship building. 10. Delivery of presentations at a senior and Board level to ambassadors and stakeholders about the programme. 11. Management of the annual ambassador marketing and communications budget as well as service level agreements and MOU s with funders and partners. 12. Converting leads into sales through bid strategies and assisting with site visits and in-market activity with clients. 13. Identify Ambassadors and develop leads from the key industry sectors. 14. Grow Belfast s market share in the UK Association sector through active research and lead generation. 15. The position carries a requirement for out-of-hours working including weekends and travel. 16. To undertake other duties as required by the Director of Business Development and the wider Visit Belfast senior management team. OTHER: 1. To undertake, when necessary, work out of normal office hours. 2. Travel is an essential part of the job. 3. Clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is desirable. 4. 6 Personnel Specification: Ambassador Programme Manager Qualifications Relevant Experience Special Aptitudes Circumstances Essential Criteria Degree level qualification, or equivalent. Minimum of three years business tourism experience. Demonstrated ability to deliver targets and KPIs. Development of relationships with leading professionals and business leaders. Event management experience. Experience of budget management. Presentation experience at a senior / Board level. Strong relationship management skills. Strong marketing, communication, presentation and negotiating skills. Results orientated individual. Ability to establish and develop relationships at a senior level. Analytical, planning, organisational skills. Report writing skills. Formal presentation and sales skills. Self-starter, energy, drive, enthusiasm and team player. Digital marketing and database skills. Available to work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends. Willing to travel as required. Desirable Criteria Third level qualification in a relevant discipline (i.e. marketing, business or research). Detailed knowledge of Northern Ireland s key economic and research areas and stakeholder organisations. National and International sales/marketing experience. Understanding of the association and corporate conference market. Programme development and management experience. March
